Nick Minicucci threw for 276 yards and four touchdowns, with Sean Wilson and Kyre Duplessis each scoring twice, and Delaware held off Middle Tennessee 31-28 on Wednesday night. Minicucci left the game midway through the fourth quarter due to an injury and backup Braden Streeter threw an interception late. Middle Tennessee marched down the field and Nicholas Vattiato threw his third touchdown pass with 1:03 remaining to pull within three points. But Nick Laboy recovered the onside kick to secure the victory. Minicucci was 27 of 42 for Delaware (4-3, 2-2 Conference USA). Duplessis made seven catches for 65 yards and Wilson added 56 yards.

Vattiato threw for 281 yards with an interception for Middle Tennessee (1-6, 0-3). Jekail Middlebrook rushed for 68 yards and a score. Minicucci completed all eight of his passes on Delaware’s opening drive of the game, including a 22-yard touchdown to Wilson. Minicucci found Wilson again for a 10-yard touchdown early in the second quarter to tie it at 14-all. Duplessis’ 4-yard touchdown catch with 38 seconds left before halftime gave Delaware a 24-14 lead. Duplessis’ second touchdown grab came from 9-yards out with 1:39 left in the third for a 31-21 lead. Over the last three games, MTSU has allowed just 16 second-half points. - Delaware/AP College Football

Nick Minicucci threw for 218 yards and three touchdowns, Jo Silver had 66 rushing yards and one touchdown, and Delaware defeated Florida International, 38-16 on Saturday night. The Blue Hens (3-1) went 5-for-6 in the red zone, scoring all but seven of their points from inside the 20. They had 358 yards of total offense. Two early interceptions by FIU quarterback Keyone Jenkins allowed Delaware to minimize the damage early, and they capitalized by scoring on three straight possessions in the second quarter.

Kyre Duplessis' 68-yard punt return touchdown at 2:37 in the second quarter capped off the 21-point swing, as the score flipped from 7-3 FIU to 24-7 Delaware before halftime. A 7:31 Blue Hen drive ate up most of the fourth quarter and ended with Viron Ellison Jr.'s 9-yard receiving score that iced the game. Kejon Owens led the Panthers (2-2) with 74 rushing yards on 15 carries, and Anthony Carrie had 73 yards on six carries. Alex Perry had 84 receiving yards and a touchdown. - AP College Football

  09/13/25 - QB Nick MinicucciJr/2027, Delaware, 6-2, 215 (DS#33 QB) + More +

Nick Minicucci rushed for a 13-yard touchdown in overtime to give Delaware a 44-41 overtime victory over UConn on Saturday, the first FBS win over an FBS team for the Fightin' Blue Hens. Minicucci went up the middle on a keeper for the victory after the Huskies (1-2) had to settle for a field goal on its OT possession despite having a first down at the Delaware 2. Nate Reed kicked a 43-yard field goal for Delaware (2-1) as time ran out in regulation. The tying kick came after UConn failed to convert a fourth-and-2 and gave the Fightin' Blue Hens possession on the Delaware 22 with 2:10 remaining.

The teams combined for 1,033 yards, split almost evenly. Minicucci ran for three scores and was 23-of-34 passing for 265 yards and a TD toss to Kyre Duplessis, who had nine catches for career-best 161 yards. Jo Silver rushed for a career-high 179 yards on 15 carries with two touchdowns. Joe Fagnano was 28 of 38 for 346 yards passing and two scores for UConn. Cam Edwards had 116 yards with two scores on 23 carries and Skyler Bell 92 yards on seven receptions. Delaware took a 24-21 lead with seven minutes left in the half and the lead went back-and-forth from there with UConn taking a 38-35 lead with 10 minutes left on Fagnano's 1-yard toss to Alex Honig. The Blue Hens, who are in their first season of FBS competition, hosted an FBS team in their stadium for the first time since 1989. - Delaware/AP College Football

  08/28/25 - QB Nick MinicucciJr/2027, Delaware, 6-2, 215 (DS#33 QB) + More +

Nick Minicucci threw for three touchdowns and ran for a fourth and Delaware made its debut at the FBS level with a 35-17 win over Delaware State and its new coach DeSean Jackson on Thursday night. The Blue Hens, now a Conference USA member, wrapped it up when Minicucci found a wide-open Jake Thaw for a 50-yard walk-in in front of Jackson, who set the NFL record with the most 60-yard receptions, with 6:15 to play. Minicucci was 28 of 36 for 251 yards in a steady rain and ran for 44 yards to lead the Blue Hens. Delaware coach Ryan Carty has never lost a home opener as a coach, dating back to 2007 and is 22-1 including his playing days with the Blue Hens.

Kahlil Ali had a 45-yard interception return to make it 28-10 early in the fourth quarter. The Hornets responded quickly with Marquis Gillis hauling in a 39-yard touchdown pass from Kaiden Bennett but two minutes later Minicucci and Thaw wrapped it up. Thaw finished with seven catches for 91 yards and Kyre Duplessis had eight for 89 with a touchdown. Bennett, a transfer from Sacramento State, opened the second half with a long drive and scored on a 23-yard run but again Minicucci answered with a 9-yard pass to Ja'Carree Kelly. Pro Bowl running back Clinton Portis is the running backs coach for the Hornets, who got 130 yards on 17 carries from Gillis. - Delaware/AP College Football
