The senior logged two of his sacks in the first half and the shared sack in the fourth quarter. The product of Hiram, Georgia, led a defense that held the Mocs scoreless in the second half. Maina finished the season with 11 sacks, which is ranked fifth in program history.   WEEK 11 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maximus Pulley, Sr., DB, Wofford, Fort Worth, Texas,...Pulley, who won the honor for the second straight week, had five tackles and two interceptions as Wofford topped VMI, 52-10, on Saturday. The senior's first pick was on the first play of the second quarter, which he returned 18 yards to set up a Wofford field goal. The native of Fort Worth, Texas, returned his second interception of the day for a touchdown in the fourth quarter, giving the Terriers a 45-7 lead. In the last two weeks, Pulley has four interceptions and two touchdowns. The redshirt freshman from Charleston, South Carolina, pinned Samford inside the 20-yard line five times, including a pair of kicks that were down inside the 5-yard line in the second half. Craig, who averaged 38.1 yards per punt in the contest, has had nine of his 32 punts this season downed inside the 20-yard line.   WEEK 10 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Maximus Pulley, Sr., DB, Wofford, Fort Worth, Texas,...Pulley had seven tackles, including an assist for loss, two interceptions and a pass deflection as Wofford defeated Samford, 26-16, on Saturday. The native of Fort Worth, Texas, recorded his first interception on the Bulldogs' second drive of the game, returning it 25 yards for a touchdown to tie the game at 7-7. Following the ensuing kickoff, the senior logged his second pick of the day on the opening play of the Samford drive, returning it to the 17-yard line which led to a Wofford touchdown three plays later. Pulley led a defense that had 11 tackles for loss, five sacks, four interceptions and a safety in the contest with the Bulldogs.   J.T. Fayard threw for 244 yards and three touchdowns, Gerald Modest scored two touchdowns on the ground, and Wofford took down Chattanooga 35-13 on Saturday in each team's season finale. The Terriers (6-6, 5-3 Southern Conference) took the lead less than two minutes into the contest when Fayard found Colby Alexander for a 22-yard touchdown. Modest added a 2-yard run early in the second quarter to double Wofford's lead.

Chattanooga (5-7, 4-4) battled back to an 8-point deficit at the half, but Wofford shut them out the rest of the way to cruise to a comfortable win. Ivory Aikens caught a 3-yard score in the third, and Isaiah Scott grabbed a 4-yard touchdown in the fourth. Aikens led the Terriers with six catches for 91 yards, and Alexander added five catches for 58 yards. Battle Albertson threw for 215 yards on 21-of-32 passing for the Mocs. Wofford ends the year riding a four-game winning streak, and won six of their final seven games to finish the season. - AP College Football

  Gerald Modest's 2-yard touchdown run on the first play of the fourth quarter proved to be the game-winner in Wofford's 16-14 victory over The Citadel on Saturday for the Terriers' third straight win. Modest's run completed an 11-play, 86-yard drive and gave the Terriers (5-6, 4-3 Southern) a 16-7 lead and the cushion it would need after Quentin Hayes capped a 61-yard drive for the Bulldogs (4-7, 3-4) with an 11-yard TD run to get The Citadel within three with five minutes to go. Eli Campbell intercepted Hayes at the Terriers 21-yard line with 1:48 left and The Citadel's final possession ended on downs. Modest rushed for 99 yards on 13 carries. J.T. Fayard was 18-of-34 passing for 210 yards and a TD to C.J. Adams. Sam Spence kicked a 29-yard field goal. Hayes threw for 153 yards and he rushed for 78 more.   J.T. Fayard threw a career-high five touchdown passes, three of them to Ivory Aikens, and Wofford blasted VMI 52-10 on Saturday. Fayard, a sophomore who is 4-1 as the starter this season, had four TD passes in four games coming in. The Terriers (4-6, 3-3 Southern Conference) led just 10-7 at halftime, then scored touchdowns on all five of their second-half possessions prior to taking a knee to end the game. The first four of those possessions ended in touchdown passes by Fayard. Among Fayard's second-half touchdown passes were a 59-yard connection with Aikens to open the third quarter and a 77-yarder to Isaiah Scott early in the fourth. Fayard completed 22 of 33 passes for 365 yards. Scott had five catches for 113 yards. Chandler Wilson was 14-of-20 passing for 138 yards for the Keydets (1-9, 0-6).   Maximus Pulley and Eli Campbell both returned interceptions for touchdowns and Wofford had four picks overall in beating Samford 26-16 on Saturday. Pulley made interceptions on consecutive Samford possessions, the first for a 25-yard pick-6 and another to set up Gerald Modest Jr's 5-yard rushing TD for a 14-7 lead. Campbell's 42-yard pick-6 early in the second half made it 21-10. Kade Moledor had the other interception and Brandon Maina sacked Quincy Crittendon in the end zone for a safety. With the defense's performance, it didn't matter that Wofford (3-6, 2-3 Southern Conference) was outgained 351-191 and had eight fewer first downs, though Samford (1-8, 1-6) had just 19 yards rushing. Crittendon threw for 219 yards and Charlie Gilliam threw for 113 and a TD but had the four interceptions. Jake Garner kicked three field goals. - AP College Football

  J.T. Fayard threw two touchdown passes and Wofford defeated Furman 31-13 on Saturday in the 99th meeting between the in-state rivals. Fayard threw 29 yards to Colby Alexander for a 7-0 lead in the first quarter and 23 yards to Terrance Honeywood in the second for a 14-6 advantage. Ihson Jackson-Anderson added a 1-yard touchdown run in the final minute before halftime for a 21-6 lead. Wofford's Javario Tinch intercepted a pass early in the fourth quarter and with some good blocking returned it untouched for a 67-yard touchdown that made it 28-13.

Fayard threw for 179 yards with the two touchdowns and he was intercepted once. Jackson-Anderson had 75 yards rushing and Isaiah Scott had 91 yards receiving on seven catches for Wofford (2-5, 1-2 Southern Conference). Trey Hedden threw a 10-yard touchdown pass to Devin Hester Jr. and Gavin Hall scored on a 4-yard run for Furman (4-3, 2-2). Hedden completed 27 of 39 passes for 257 yards but the Terriers intercepted him three times.   J.T. Fayard threw for 248 yards and two touchdowns, Ihson Jackson-Anderson and Gerald Modest each had 80-plus yards rushing and a score, and Wofford beat Norfolk State 31-14 on Saturday for its first victory of the season. Jackson-Anderson rushed for 113 yards on 17 carries and Modest added 82 yards on 18 rushes. Fayard was 23 of 34 with an interception. Wofford (1-5) entered 0-5 for the third time in the last four seasons, with the 2023 team beginning 0-9. Four of Wofford's five losses have been decided by one score or less, including three by three points or fewer.

Norfolk State (1-6) has lost five straight in Michael Vick's first season at the helm, with the lone victory coming against Division II Virginia State. Otto Kuhns was 16 of 29 for 169 yards with two touchdowns and one interception for Norfolk State. Kam'Ryn Thomas had eight catches for 112 yards and a score. Norfolk State scored a touchdown on its first drive of the game and tied it at 14-all early in the third quarter on Thomas' 33-yard grab. But the Spartans went three-and-out on their next two possessions, and Wofford scored on three straight drives to pull away. - AP College Football

  WEEK 2 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: CJ Coombes, So., DB, Wofford, Bellefonte, Del.,...Coombes had five tackles, including an assisted tackle for loss, and a 72-yard interception returned for a touchdown in the Terriers' 14-10 setback against Richmond. The sophomore's pick-six, which was the 10th-longest in school history, was the first interception returned for a touchdown for Wofford since 2018. The Bellefonte, Delaware, native is currently tied for fourth in the SoCon in tackles this season with 17.   Nathan Walker ran for a 9-yard touchdown with 32 seconds to play to cap Wofford's come-from-behind 48-41 victory over East Tennessee State on Saturday. On third-and-7, Walker ran toward the middle then took a jab step, bounced it outside and ran untouched into the end zone. Wofford (2-6, 2-3 Southern Conference) had just tied the game at 41 with 2:54 remaining on Jimmy Weirick's 31-yard touchdown pass to Landon Parker. The Terriers avenged last season's 27-21 loss to ETSU (3-6, 1-6) that ended their nine-game win streak in the series. Weirick was 25 of 39 for 409 yards and threw three touchdown passes. Walker also had a 2-yard TD run early in the fourth quarter. Parker had eight catches for 179 yards. Jacob Saylors had 245 yards on the ground on 22 carries and scored three touchdowns for ETSU.
