  2019 PRESEASON MOUNTAIN WEST OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (MEDIA): Jordan Love, Jr., QB, Utah State,...Love is coming off a 2018 campaign in which he set five single-season program records, while earning second-team All-MW honors. Love, who helped lead the Aggies to an 11-win season, threw for 3,567 yards and 32 touchdowns as a sophomore. The native of Bakersfield, California, tallied 39 total touchdowns last season, which is tied for the fifth-most in MW single-season history. During the past week, Love has been named to the preseason watch lists for the Davey O'Brien Award, which is given to the nation's best quarterback, and the Maxwell Award, given to the best overall player nationally. - Utah State Football

  2019 PRESEASON PAYCOM JIM THORPE AWARD WATCH LIST: DJ Williams, Utah State, Sr.,...Williams, a 5-foot-9 180-pounder from Smyrna, Tenn. (Smyrna HS), earned honorable mention all-Mountain West honors in 2018 as he led the team and ranked third in the conference and 30th in the nation with 15 passes defended. He also tied for the team lead with four interceptions, which ranked tied for first in the MW and tied for 16th in the nation.

Williams recorded 42 tackles on the season, which included 1.0 sack and 3.0 tackles for loss, to go along with one forced fumble and one quarterback hurry. During the 2018 campaign, Williams recorded a season-high six tackles against New Mexico State (9/8), Air Force (9/22) and Wyoming (10/20). He also had a season-high three pass breakups at Colorado State (11/17) and added two pass breakups in back-to-back games against Air Force and BYU (10/5). He finished his redshirt junior season fifth on the team with 64 tackles (30-solo, 34-assist), while leading the team in both sacks (10.5) and tackles for loss (14.0).

In fact, his 10.5 sacks are the most by an Aggie since 2005, while his 14.0 tackles for loss are the most by an Aggie since 2015.
