  07/26/22 - *Jordan Addison, Jr/2023, USC, 5-11, 173 (DS#2 WR) + More +

Jordan Addison's departure from Pitt to USC is almost old news at this point. It became obvious the Biletnikoff Award winner would leave for the Trojans in late April before officially doing so a few weeks later in May. But since then, Narduzzi hasn't been made available to local media to discuss the high-profile departure, which had NIL implications and alleged tampering attached to it. On Thursday, Narduzzi addressed Addison's transfer with a layered response. "I stayed quiet for a long time because it was a recruiting process. We were recruiting him," Narduzzi said. "But I'm focused on our guys who want to be here at Pitt. That's the key. "Jordan's a great kid, great player. We had fun with him for two years. I think we helped him get to where he is today. I think we helped him win a Biletnikoff and be the player that he is. Kenny Pickett was pretty good. He had one of the best quarterbacks in the country throwing him the ball every day. Some people forget how they got where they are. It was a special year. I've got a ton of respect for Jordan. Young men have to make decisions based on what they know or what they thought. And we kind of move on."

Later, Narduzzi told the Post-Gazette he "absolutely" believes USC tampered with Addison. Reports of the all-American leaving for USC surfaced before he formally entered the transfer portal, at which point teams would be able to contact him. "Transferring is one thing, but the NCAA has to do something about tampering," Narduzzi told the Post-Gazette, "because tampering is certainly happening in a big way. By players or coaches, it can't happen. It's happening a lot, and it's not good." Asked what can realistically be done to curb tampering, Narduzzi said: "I don't know. Not my job. But it's got to get straightened out." - Pittsburgh Post Gazette

  07/22/22 - Caleb Williams, Jr/2024, USC, 6-1, 214 (DS#1 QB) + More +

2022 PRESEASON MAXWELL AWARD WATCH LIST: Caleb Williams, USC,...This is one of the well-known transfers, quarterback Caleb Williams moving from Oklahoma with coach Lincoln Riley to USC. Recently, college football insider Mike Farrell spread a disputed narrative on Twitter about Williams being driven away from Oklahoma and to USC because of OU fans. Williams' dad AND Williams himself never said this. Williams' dad, Carl, did mention that he himself was not thrilled with how Oklahoma fans reacted to his son entering the transfer portal, but it wasn't why he transferred at all. In fact, Caleb even addressed the fan reaction back when he made his decision to come to USC. Said Caleb: "They reacted kind of how I respected them to. I appreciate all the OU fans. I love all the OU fans. All the love and support they have given me throughout the season before I was playing, before I got there and while I was playing. They'll always be in my heart." How nice. Can't wait for football to start so there is something really happening. - ReignofTroy.com

2022 PRESEASON MAXWELL AWARD WATCH LIST: Jordan Addison, USC,...So we've heard a lot about this poster boy for NIL and transfers since he departed Pitt for USC. But a story in pittsburghnow.com only July 10 says: "Addison has reportedly been pissed in recent weeks because of unspecified broken promises not yet being followed through with, On3 national recruiting analyst Gerry Hamilton reported Friday on a Texas message board. The decision for Pitt's Biletnikoff Award-winner to transfer after two excellent seasons at Pitt was met with much discussion, especially since Addison was already being projected as a first round selection in the 2023 NFL Draft and had been building additional report with transfer quarterback Kedon Slovis over the winter, but the allure of NIL money in SoCal ultimately proved too much to pass up." Sour grapes? Who knows? That's why we have watch lists. So let's watch. - Pittsburghnow.com and online sources

The Tallahassee Quarterback Club (TQC) Foundation, Inc., the Florida-based creator and sponsor of the prestigious Biletnikoff Award, has released the 2022 Biletnikoff Award Preseason Watch List. The Biletnikoff Award annually recognizes the college football season's outstanding FBS receiver. Any player, regardless of position (wide receiver, tight end, slot back, and running back) who catches a pass is eligible for the award. As such, the Biletnikoff Award recognizes college football's outstanding receiver, not merely college football's outstanding wide receiver. Receivers are frequently added to the watch list as their season performances dictate. Actual, not potential, performance is the basis for inclusion on the Biletnikoff Award Watch List. - Biletnikoff Award

2022 WALTER CAMP PRESEASON FIRST TEAM ALL-AMERICAN: WR Jordan Addison (USC),... Addison created a commotion when he transferred from Pittsburgh to join former Oklahoma coach Lincoln Riley at USC. There were claims that USC abused the NIL opportunity to get Addison, but the player actually rejected a higher offer from Texas. In the last week a social media post ignited false rumors that Addison was unhappy at USC. He denies it. The former Pittsburgh star Addison is coming off a monster sophomore season that yielded him the Biletnikoff as the nation's top receiver with 100 receptions for 1,593 yards and 17 TDs. His receiving yardage and touchdown catches ranked second among Pitt season records, trailing only Larry Fitzgerald (1,672 yards and 22 TDs in 2003). Addison's touchdown catches led the nation (tied with Western Kentucky's Jerreth Sterns) and ranked fourth nationally in total receiving yards. He broke out as a true freshman with 60 receptions with 666 yards and four TDs in the shortened 2020 season; he earned several Freshman All-American honors. The Maryland native was a four-star prospect in the 2020 class, the No. 131 overall prospect and the No. 4 athlete. - USC Football

Potential impact of wide receiver transfer Jordan Addison: Did USC need Addison? No. Did it want Addison? You bet. USC's wide receiver unit was pretty well stocked after an early transfer run that yielded it Mario Williams, Brenden Rice and Terrell Bynum to add with returning starters Gary Bryant Jr. and Tahj Washington. But the unit lacked a proven No. 1 wideout and could've used more veteran leadership. Addison, a projected first-round pick, fills those areas in droves as the nation's best wide receiver last season not named Drake London.

Addison will draw the majority of the attention from defenses, which will open up the rest of the pass catchers to make plays. He's not the biggest receiver, but the All-American has verified 4.4 speed, can beat defenses deep and might have the best hands on the team. He is also a versatile chess piece for Riley's offense, capable of playing outside, in the slot or being motioned around the formation. Addison is a plug-and-play starter who could end the season as the best wide receiver in the nation. - 247 Sports

USC and UCLA, two of the Pac-12's flagship programs, are planning to leave the conference for the Big Ten as early as 2024, sources confirmed to ESPN on Thursday. The Mercury News first reported the news. There is still a formal notification process, as the two schools have to let the Pac-12 know their intentions to leave. USC and UCLA also have to formally apply to the Big Ten. According to a source, that process is underway. Multiple sources told ESPN on Thursday that the move is expected to happen. A source called the next steps "formalities" and an announcement could come within the next 24 hours.

A source said that the exploration of the finances and what it would take to make the move have been going on for weeks. While finances played a big role in the move, competitiveness, brand and the overall landscape of the future of the sport played a bigger role. "USC and UCLA have to make the decisions to position them best for the long term," said a source familiar with the move. "The future is so uncertain we need to be operating from a position of strength." - ESPN.com
