  07/31/22 - Hajj-Malik WilliamsrSr/2025, UNLV, 6-0, 205 (DS#22 QB) + More +

2022 PRESEASON ALL-BIG SOUTH CONFERENCE TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): QB Hajj-Malik Williams, R-Jr., Campbell,...Williams, who played in just four games in 2021 due to injury, makes his second career appearance on the league's preseason all-conference team after being named 2020 Preseason Big South Offensive Player of the Year. The redshirt junior, who owns 3,418 career passing yards and 996 yards rushing, threw for 714 yards with seven touchdowns and one interception in limited time last season, adding 127 yards rushing. The Atlanta, Ga. QB was named First Team FCS Freshman All-America (HERO Sports) and Big South Offensive Freshman of the Year in 2019. - Campbell Football

2022 PRESEASON BUTKUS AWARD WATCHLIST: Justin Flowe, Oregon,...Flowe is also entering his third season at Oregon, but has appeared in just two games so far due to injuries. The former five-star recruit was stellar in his lone game of the 2021 season, earning Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors afer leading Oregon with 14 tackles, one tackle for loss and a forced fumble in the season opener against Fresno State. His 14 tackles were the most by a UO freshman since Troy Dye in 2016. - Oregon Football

2022 PRESEASON LOU GROZA AWARD WATCH LIST: Daniel Gutierrez - UNLV, Class: Senior - Hometown: Los Angeles, California,...A 2021 Groza semifinalist, Gutierrez's 88.9% accuracy mark was the third-highest in FBS by a kicker with multiple field goals from at least 50 yards out. That shouldn't be a surprise from the most accurate kicker in UNLV history. He opened the year with a 4-for-4 FG game against Eastern Washington that included makes from 51 and 47 in the fourth quarter. - Lou Groza Award

  07/27/22 - Austin AjiakerSr/2023, UNLV, 6-2, 223 (DS#40 OLB) + More +

On the field, Austin Ajiake is a heat-seeking linebacker. Off the field, he got emotional when he cut his daughter's umbilical cord, knows all the variations of the "Baby Shark" and "Cocomelon" songs, and dropped to the Oahu sand to propose to his fiancee. "I've got two personalities," Ajiake said. "I know when to turn it on and when to turn it off. Seeing people in different-colored jerseys, it kind of does something to my brain and makes me want to go." - Honolulu Advertiser

  07/26/22 - Adam Plant Jr.Sr/2023, UNLV, 6-5, 255 (DS#45 DE) + More +

In a very expected development at Mountain West football media days, the conference released its preseason All-MWC team on Thursday, and no UNLV players made the cut. It marks the second straight year that the Scarlet and Gray have no representation on the preseason squad. UNLV went 2-10 last year and placed one player on the 2021 All-Mountain West team: running back Charles Williams, who ran for 1,261 yards and 15 touchdowns. Williams has since graduated. The team was voted on by the league's local media contingent. Speaking at media day, UNLV senior linebacker Austin Ajiake reacted to the news. "Do I feel like we have players that should have been on? Yeah, for sure," Ajiake said. "Are we upset about it? Nah. We see those lists and it's cool, the recognition is cool, but at the same time that's not really what I play for. It's just a bonus. I know what I can do, I know what me and my teammates are capable of doing this year." - Las Vegas Sun

  07/26/22 - Koy MoorerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-0, 198 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Koy Moore raised eyebrows and turned heads the day he first stepped foot on Auburn's practice fields. The former LSU wide receiver arrived on the Plains this summer, and during his first day of workouts he showed the kind of spark that has been lacking from Auburn's receiving corps. He snagged the ball on an inside slant and promptly turned it into a long touchdown, leaving the defense in his trails. "Everyone's like hmmm, alright," Harsin said. "So, you're like, OK, that dude - he can move. But he's just got, I don't know, he's just got a presence about him when he showed up." Moore is one of four new summer additions to Auburn's wide receiver room - along with fellow transfer Dazalin Worsham of Miami and incoming freshmen Omari Kelly and Camden Brown - and the LSU transfer is already garnering buzz as a potential instant-impact player at the position heading into fall camp. That's something Auburn needs at receiver, where the team is short on experience outside of fifth-year senior Shedrick Jackson. - Birmingham News

  07/25/22 - Gary QuarlesrSr/2024, UNLV, 5-06, 165 (DS#999 RB) + More +

2022 PRESEASON ALL-SWAC FIRST TEAM: Running Back: Gary Quarles, Alabama A&M,...Quarles delivered an impressive 2021 campaign, leading the SWAC in yards per game (95.5) and rushing touchdowns (10) while finishing third in the league in yards (955), accomplishing the latter in just 10 games. Standing just 5-6, Quarles hardly left the field and was involved in all aspects of the offense, from handing the ball, blocking and the receiving game. Toting the ball 205 times (along with 21 catches for 224 yards), he accounted for 1,179 all-purpose yards and topped the 100-yard plateau five times on the year. Those would include the first three games with 129 yards and a touchdown against South Carolina State (9/4), 101 and a score at Bethune-Cookman (9/16) in a driving rain storm and a career-high 164 yards and a pair of TDs against Tuskegee (9/25) in Mobile, Alabama. - Alabama A&M Football

  07/24/22 - Keyvone LeerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-0, 225 (DS#70 RB) + More +

2022 PRESEASON DOAK WALKER AWARD CANDIDATE: Keyvone Lee (So.), Penn State,...Listed as a 2022 sophomore, Penn State running back Keyvone Lee (6-0, 234) lists his major as DUS, which means Division of Undergraduate Studies, which basically means he has not declared a major, although Penn State offers more than 160 choices. While he sorts that out, Lee is working the Covid era system so he is going into his third season as a sophomore. The school lists 2020 as his "true freshman" year and he appeared in nine games with three starts. So 2021 is listed as his freshman season (would that be an untrue freshman season?) and he played in 13 games with four starts, finishing with 530 yards rushing. Good enough to put him on watch lists while he ponders which of the 160 majors he may declare. - Penn State Football

  07/15/22 - Justin FlowerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-2, 220 (DS#16 ILB) + More +

While Noah Sewell is established as one of the best players in the Pac-12, Flowe will be looking to play his first full season in an Oregon uniform. Justin Flowe has played in two games in two seasons because of injury. Flowe played in the Ducks' season-opening victory against Fresno State last year as he registered 14 tackles, a tackle for loss, and a forced fumble. He earned Pac-12 Freshman of the Week honors, but Flowe would never see the field again in 2021. Flowe suffered a foot injury that ended his season. In the spring, Flowe was limited in more than half of the practices, but he participated in 11-on-11 and positional drills. "He's just eager. He's eager to get to work," Lanning said about Flowe. 'He has an infectious personality and enthusiasm and the way you approach every day, he knows he's got a long ways to go. We're going to continue to chart his progress and see what it looks like as he moves forward, but definitely fun to see him out there. - Register Guard

  06/06/22 - Koy MoorerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-0, 198 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Auburn football landed a commitment from LSU receiver transfer Koy Moore on Saturday night. Moore is Auburn's ninth incoming transfer ahead of the 2022 season, and the second receiver, joining Miami's Dazalin Worsham. He brings Auburn's scholarship count to 77 on the 2022 roster. The Tigers will likely have an open competition for starting receiver duties this fall, with returning senior Shedrick Jackson leading the room. - Lafayette Daily Advertiser

  06/05/22 - Justin FlowerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-2, 220 (DS#16 ILB) + More +

Oregon linebacker Justin Flowe is entering his third season as a third-year redshirt freshman with only two games played. His athletic ability is without question and if he can stay on the field for an entire season he might be one of the best linebackers in college football based on talent alone, but Flowe has to stay available. Flowe was a wrecking ball in the 2021 season opener and showed the kind of play and ferocity that is envisioned of the top-ranked linebacker recruit in the country. Then his season was over with a foot injury. He was limited in the spring and didn't play in the spring game, but is on track to be back to full participation in fall camp. Jeff Bassa took over the spot last year and is staying there and Keith Brown saw some opportunities before a hamstring injury knocked him out. - The Oregonian

  04/24/22 - Doug BrumfieldrSr/2025, UNLV, 6-5, 225 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Quarterback Doug Brumfield will return to UNLV after spending eight days in the transfer portal, a person close to the team confirmed Wednesday. Brumfield played in three games and started twice before a fractured vertebrae in his lower back ended his 2021 season. He began spring camp competing with reigning Mountain West offensive freshman of the year Cameron Friel and former Tennessee quarterback Harrison Bailey for the starting role, but Brumfield entered his name in the transfer portal April 12. Brumfield, who has four years of eligibility remaining, threw for 320 yards and two touchdowns while completing 44 percent of his passes last season. He also rushed for 109 yards and two TDs. - Las Vegas Review Journal

  04/23/22 - Justin FlowerSr/2026, UNLV, 6-2, 220 (DS#16 ILB) + More +

Justin Flowe is steadily increasing his workload as Oregon begins its final full week of spring practice. The Ducks inside linebacker took reps with the second-team defense on Tuesday, his first work during an 11-on-11 period when viewing was open to the media. It's still being determined if the third-year freshman linebacker will play during Saturday's spring game (1 p.m., Pac-12 Network). "He's eager to get to work," Oregon coach Dan Lanning said. "He has an infectious personality and an enthusiasm in the way he approach(es) every day, he knows he's got a long ways to go. We're going to continue to chart his progress and see what it looks like as he moves forward, but definitely fun to see him out there." Flowe has been recovering from a season-ending right foot injury he suffered against Fresno State on Sept. 4, when he had 14 tackles and forced a fumble. - The Oregonian

One of just 20 semifinalists for the ultimate kicker honor - the Lou Groza Award - the senior stands 13th in the nation with a percentage of 88.9 while his career field goal numbers of 37-of-45 rank him first in school history with a percentage of 82.2. He broke a long-standing school record by making 16 consecutive field goals dating back to last year, including a career-long 53-yarder vs. San Jose State. - UNLV Football

2021 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST HONORABLE MENTION (COACHES): Austin Ajiake, LB,...Before missing the final four games because of injury, Ajiake (Fremont, CA/Bellarmine Prep) was a tackling machine, hitting double-digits in four games, including a career-high 18 vs. Utah State. His tackles-per-game average of 9.25 ranked fourth in the Mountain West. - UNLV Football
