  In a nationally-televised matchup on ESPN, quarterback Justin McMillan completed a 53-yard touchdown strike to wideout Jalen McCleskey with three seconds remaining as the Tulane football team defeated Houston, 38-31, in its American Athletic Conference opener Thursday evening at Yulman Stadium. McCleskey finished the night with four receptions for 120 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while McMillan passed for 186 yards, ran for 91 more and accounted for four touchdowns to lead Tulane (3-1, 1-0 AAC). Senior running back Darius Bradwell recorded 20 carries for 113 yards, while redshirt senior ball-carrier Corey Dauphine added eight more touches for 71 yards. Both teams compiled more than 500 yards of total offense, including 300 yards rushing on the ground, respectively. - Tulane Football

  Justin McMillan passed for 199 yards and two touchdowns and Tulane piled up another 350 yards on the ground in a 42-14 season-opening victory over Florida International on Thursday night. McMillan, a graduate transfer from LSU, completed 14 of 18 passes and was not intercepted. His passer rating was 207.3. The Green Wave had even more success on the ground, with Darius Bradwell gaining 90 yards, Corey Dauphine 76 and McMillan 51. Dauphine scored on runs of 14 and 50 yards. Tulane punted on its opening drive then scored touchdowns on six of its next seven possessions. James Morgan completed 19 of 34 passes for 208 yards with a touchdown and an interception for FIU.   The Tulane football team announced the addition of former Arizona State linebacker Malik Lawal to its roster as a graduate transfer and will suit up for the Green Wave this fall. Lawal makes his way to New Orleans after spending four years on the Sun Devils roster. He will wear No. 45 this year for the Green Wave. The Temecula, California native totaled 33 tackles in his three-year undergraduate career, recording 21 in the 2018 season. The Tallahassee, Florida, native was one of the Green Wave's most consistent scoring threats a year ago, as he scored touchdowns in seven straight games and nine of Tulane's 13 games.
