  08/21/21 - Bralyn OliverrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-2, 195 (DS#999 SS) + More +

Louisville lost a player to the transfer portal Friday. Freshman safety Bralyn Oliver announced Friday he has entered the transfer portal after arriving at Louisville in January. Oliver, a 6-foot-2 South Carolina native, was a three-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class. He was expected to be paired with four-star Ben Perry at safety. Perry is still with the team, likely the backup strong safety this season, but Oliver's departure now leaves a whole in the depth chart. The Cardinals don't have a lot of depth at safety and with Oliver gone, it's likely Louisville will utilize corner Chandler Jones at safety this season. Josh Minkins is also still on the roster, but is battling back from a winter injury. - Courier Journal

  08/17/21 - Aaron WillisrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-0, 220 (DS#999 OLB) + More +

Aaron Willis' debut at Tennessee football practice took four months longer than expected. But the Vols' top-rated signee in their 2021 class has made an impression through the first week of preseason practices. "He has been a pleasant surprise so far this camp," linebackers coach Brian Jean-Mary said Tuesday. Willis enrolled early at Tennessee as a four-star linebacker and the No. 137 prospect in the nation, according to the 247Sports Composite. He was suspended during spring football for his role during a March incident at Stokely Hall, delaying his start with the Vols.

Willis returned to UT team activities in June, but lagged behind his teammates physically. "His biggest issue was without playing (much in) that COVID year, he really set himself behind just conditioning-wise," Jean-Mary said. "He had to get his body back into playing shape. I feel like he had a good summer." The 6-foot-1, 225-pound Willis transferred to Life Christian Academy in Chester, Virginia, from St. Frances Academy in Baltimore. As an early enrollee at UT, Willis would not have been able to play his senior season due to high school football in Maryland being postponed until the spring. - Knoxville News Sentinel

  08/07/21 - Arik GilbertrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-5, 275 (DS#999 TE) + More +

George Pickens was the top target down the stretch with back-to-back 100-yard plus receiving games, but he's sidelined after ACL surgery. LSU transfer Arik Gilbert joins a pass-catching group that includes receivers Kearis Jackson, Jermaine Burton and Arian Smith, 6-foot-7, 280-pound Darnell Washington and John Fitzpatrick at tight end and running back James Cook. That's before we even get to spring game star receiver Adonai Mitchell. "There's more guys on this team than you normally see that can be in the game that's no different than your 1s," Daniels said.

Georgia is giving the 6-foot-5, 248-pound Gilbert the chance to play wide receiver like he wanted, but how that translates to practice will be telling. "We don't get a chance to be on the field with him in the position conditioning stuff so we're going to have to find that out in fall camp," Smart told WJOX in Birmingham. "He's bigger than your average wideout certainly." Gilbert worked this summer with both receivers coach Cortez Hankton and tight ends coach Todd Hartley, according to Daniels. "He takes time to learn the signals and picks it up really well," Daniels said. "He's got the skillset to play a lot of positions in the game of football. You try out and put your playmakers where they have the best chance to make plays. Wherever that is for him I'm sure they'll figure it out." - Athens Daily Banner

  07/25/21 - Avantae WilliamsrSr/2025, Transfer, 5-11, 198 (DS#999 SS) + More +

Avantae Williams is no longer a Miami Hurricane. On the same day University of Miami coach Manny Diaz and his three star players were repping the new and improved Hurricanes at the Atlantic Coast Conference Football Kickoff, one of their top young safeties was arrested and jailed. The Hurricanes announced Thursday evening that Williams "has been dismissed from the football program." UM released a statement earlier Thursday that the second-year freshman Williams, 20, who didn't play last season because of a medical issue, was arrested by the Miami-Dade Police Department.

Court records show he was charged with aggravated battery on a pregnant victim. He was booked into a Miami-Dade jail late Wednesday, and remained there until posting bond Thursday afternoon. According to a police report obtained by the Herald, Williams' arrest stemmed from an argument with his child's mother, who is also 31 weeks pregnant with his baby. The two had been living together in West Kendall, although they are "ex-girlfriend/boyfriend," the report said. The two got into an argument Wednesday over Williams "being involved with another woman," the report said. "When I return from practice you need to be gone," he allegedly told the woman. - Miami Herald

  07/23/21 - Arik GilbertrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-5, 275 (DS#999 TE) + More +

One of the big topics of discussion for Georgia on Tuesday was the team's use of the transfer portal. Few teams were as busy as the Bulldogs this offseason in regards to the portal, as Georgia added three highly-touted players in LSU tight end Arik Gilbert, Clemson cornerback Derion Kendrick and West Virginia safety Tykee Smith. Smart was asked about his prior insistence of only using the portal when a true need is present, and he explained how each of those players fit the bill. "The first two, the defensive backs, we're under our scholarship quota of defensive backs. We had two guys come out early, two guys come out of the portal. We're at a deficit just from scholarship numbers, not to mention experience. Those two guys bring an immense amount of experience," Smart said. "With Arik, anytime you can get a skill player that can do things with the ball, you're always looking to be dynamic. You look at teams that have won the national championship recently: they're most dynamic on offense and at the skill positions." - Opelika-Auburn News

  07/22/21 - Arik GilbertrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-5, 275 (DS#999 TE) + More +

Monday, but a new addition to its roster should be heard from in a big way in the years to come, according to his former coach. LSU coach Ed Orgeron said Arik Gilbert, who played his freshman season for the Tigers, has big things ahead of him. "I think he's going to be an All-Pro tight end, an All-American and has a chance to be a first round draft choice," Orgeron said Monday at SEC Media Days at the Hyatt Regency Birmingham-The Wynfrey Hotel. The Bulldogs are actually listing Gilbert as a wide receiver. He could be an answer at the X wide receiver position where George Pickens played, but whose season is in question after sustaining a torn ACL this spring.

Gilbert came to LSU with huge expectations as a five-star prospect but opted out after eight games. The 6-foot-5, 248 pounder had 35 catches for 368 yards and two touchdowns last season for the Tigers. Orgeron said after Gilbert opted out that he hoped he'd return to the Tigers. Gilbert committed to Florida but backed off that pledge and enrolled at Georgia in June. "We wish Arik the best," Orgeron said. "He's an outstanding young man. His momma's a great lady." - Athens Daily Banner

Arizona's linebacker room continues to be in a state of flux. After an offseason filled mostly with acquisitions, the Wildcats could lose second-year freshman Derick Mourning, who announced Wednesday that he has put his name in the NCAA transfer portal. Mourning, a three-star recruit from Katy, Texas, showed great promise in the spring, when he ran with the first-team defense at the "Mike" linebacker spot. Mourning (6-3, 234) appeared in all five of Arizona's games in 2020, including one start, recording 10 tackles and one pass breakup. Mourning would have had a chance to start in 2021, although the UA staff has beefed up the LB group via the portal. Arizona has added four linebackers. The incoming freshman class also features several 'backers. Mourning's decision comes after the July 1 deadline to ensure eligibility for the '21 season. If he wants to play elsewhere this year, he'll have to get a waiver. - Arizona Star News

  06/01/21 - Arik GilbertrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-5, 275 (DS#999 TE) + More +

After spending the 2020 season on the Bayou, former Marietta High School football star Arik Gilbert ultimately decided that home is where the heart is. Gilbert, a decorated recruit from Marietta's 2019 state championship team, announced Tuesday that he would be transferring to Georgia. "I believe it was a smart decision to come home," the 6-foot-5, 245-pound tight end told the Dawgs247 website. "I wanted to be with and near my family. I have been missing all of family and now both of my grandmothers will be able see me play in person, too." Gilbert comes to Athens from LSU, following a freshman season in which he had 368 yards and two touchdowns on 35 receptions over eight games. Gilbert, however, opted out of the remainder of the Tigers' season on Dec. 9.

Gilbert entered the transfer portal and initially transferred to Florida at the end of January, but he reconsidered and decommitted from the Gators about a month later. Gilbert was a sought-after recruit from programs around the nation before initially picking LSU in October 2019. It was part of a momentous senior season in which he had 102 receptions for 1,735 yards and 14 touchdowns during Marietta's run to the 2019 Class AAAAAAA state championship. - Marietta Daily Journal

A January commit, Curry left LSU after tallying just 91 carries for 336 yards with no touchdowns over three seasons with the Tigers. Like Calvert, however, Curry was ranked by 247 Sports as the 15th-best prospect in the country at his position coming out of high school (class of 2018) and will be looking to get his career going at a place that has had to rebuild its running back room this offseason. - Deseret News

  05/14/21 - Mycah PittmanrSr/2026, Transfer, 5-11, 195 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Pittman was limited to just eight catches for 123 yards in just four games of real action last season and over two years he's still played in just 12 games. Yet he's probably the Ducks receiver with the highest upside in terms of NFL potential. He has great hands, not withstanding an uncharacteristic few drops in the spring game that he apologized for unprompted. Pittman's potential is huge. He's versatile, agile, has a good game IQ, quick and runs good routes. His lack of experience comes out at times though, whether in run blocking - see the Cal game last season - or his lack of consistent production, which isn't entirely his own fault. In a crowded receiving corps, Pittman's ability to play both Z and Y will help him see the field more. But his greatest opportunity for production may still be a year away. - The Oregonian

  04/25/21 - Terez TraynorrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-3, 210 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Western Kentucky wide receiver Terez Traynor has entered the transfer portal, WKU confirmed to the Daily News on Friday. The news was first reported on Twitter by the 247Sports Transfer Portal account. The 6-foot-3, 205-pound redshirt sophomore from Louisville appeared in 10 of WKU's games during the 5-7 2020 season with one start coming at BYU. He had four receptions for 36 yards, including two for 24 yards in a 38-21 victory against FIU on Nov. 21. Traynor redshirted his first season at WKU after coming from Doss High School rated as a three-star recruit by 247Sports. - BG Daily News

  04/25/21 - Tyson MeiguezrJr/2026, Transfer, 6-2, 217 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

Speaking Thursday, Georgia Tech defensive coordinator Andrew Thacker expressed his disappointment for freshman linebacker Tyson Meiguez, who announced Tuesday that he had torn his ACL in spring practice. "It's a tough break for him," Thacker said. "Tyson was working with the first two groups and was going to have a big role in terms of a linebacker and special teams." Meiguez figured to challenge for a spot in the linebacker rotation. The Creekside High graduate played in seven games last season. "Hurting for him in this moment," Thacker continued. "He put in a lot of work to get to this point, was having a strong spring season, so definitely hurting for him. But I know he's going to attack his recovery like he does everything, and we look forward to having him back when he gets back." Meiguez's absence could open up a larger role for early-enrollee freshman Trenilyas Tatum from Mount Zion High. Thacker said he had been spending extra time with Tatum to speed his learning process. Thacker said that Tatum is "ahead of the curve" in his ability to finish plays and tackle well. - Atlanta Journal Constitution

  04/23/21 - Tyson MeiguezrJr/2026, Transfer, 6-2, 217 (DS#999 ILB) + More +

Georgia Tech linebacker Tyson Meiguez sustained a torn ACL, making it highly unlikely that he'll be able to play next season. Meiguez was expected to play a backup role at linebacker and contribute on special teams. Meiguez made the announcement Tuesday from his Instagram account, saying that he was informed that day that he had suffered the injury as the Yellow Jackets are in their fourth week of spring practice. Meiguez wrote that, at first, he was upset. A member of the 2020 signing class from Creekside High, Meiguez played in seven games last season, mostly in a special-teams role. Last week, coach Geoff Collins said that Meiguez and fellow linebacker Khatavian Franks were having "really good springs." - Atlanta Journal Constitution

  04/18/21 - Jashaud StewartrSr/2025, Transfer, 6-2, 257 (DS#999 DE) + More +

A pair of former Arkansas high school standouts have made strides toward creating larger and more secure roles for themselves in 2021. Zach Williams (Joe T. Robinson) and Jashaud Stewart (Jonesboro) are fighting this spring to become mainstays along Arkansas' defensive line this fall. They have caught the attention of Razorbacks coach Sam Pittman in the process. A sophomore last season, Williams gained valuable experience as he played in nine of 10 games. He earned four starts, including three in a row against Mississippi State, Auburn and Ole Miss. His play led many to believe he could be a major factor in the future.

For Stewart, he saw the field in eight games in 2020, but did not record any statistics. Based on what the second-year head coach has seen through 14 practices, he expects Stewart's name to echo in stadiums in the fall, especially if the 6-2 defensive end adds 10-12 pounds to his frame. "He plays with a tremendous amount of energy, he chases the ball, and you're going to get him every snap," Pittman said Wednesday. "Whatever he's got in there, that's what you're going to get every snap. And I don't believe you have to be a senior to lead. I think you've got to beat somebody out then you become a leader, and that's what he's done. "He's moved up the depth chart and he's made guys that are ahead of him and behind him play harder. The bottom line is he's relentless with his effort and he's going to make a lot of plays. He's not the biggest, not all of those things, but he is one hard-working, hard-playing guy." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  04/09/21 - Arik GilbertrSr/2026, Transfer, 6-5, 275 (DS#999 TE) + More +

The long-winding offseason journey for tight end Arik Gilbert hasn't ended quite yet, but LSU coach Ed Orgeron said the former five-star recruit did have a "very good meeting" at the school's facilities recently. Gilbert, who was briefly committed to conference rival Florida, returned to Baton Rouge in March to meet with the team. It is the first known time that Gilbert visited with LSU since he entered the NCAA transfer portal and left the team toward the end of last season. Orgeron said "no decision's been made" yet about just where Gilbert will enroll and play college football again, but the coach said "everybody was happy to see him" and the athletic department checked with its compliance office to make sure the visit could happen. "He hasn't made a decision yet, hasn't told us anything yet," Orgeron said. "I think it's still up in the air, but it was a very positive day when he came." - Baton Rouge Advocate
