  Kalieb Osborne threw a late third-quarter touchdown and Chip Trayanum scored twice in the second half as Toledo pulled away for a 21-3 win over Central Michigan on Saturday. The Rockets will play in the MAC championship game on Dec. 6 against the winner of a tiebreaker scenario between Toledo, Miami (OH) or Ohio. Toledo (8-4, 6-2 MAC) trailed 3-0 at halftime after Cade Graham hit a 28-yard field goal with 38 seconds left in the second quarter.

The Rockets finally broke through with 10 seconds left in the third when Osborne hit Trayanum on a 57-yard strike to cap a five-play, 69-yard drive. Kenji Christian pushed the lead to 14-3 on a 9-yard run with 8:41 left and, after a defensive stop, Trayanum sealed it with a 42-yard burst with 1:49 remaining. Trayanum ran for 94 yards on 16 carries and caught three passes for 65 yards. Osborne and Tucker Gleason combined to throw for 206 yards with no turnovers. Toledo's defense held CMU to 81 yards rushing and picked off Joe Labas once while recording four sacks.   2025 SOUTHERN CONFERENCE DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Andrew Zock, So., DL, Mercer,...Mercer's Zock is the second Bear to be named Defensive Player of the Year, joining former teammate Brayden Manley (2024). Zock finished the regular season ranked second nationally in tackles for loss per game (1.81), sixth nationally in sacks per game (1.04), and is among the national leaders with 22 quarterback hurries. Zock's 20 tackles for loss and 11.5 sacks are both new career-high totals and raise his career totals to 34.5 tackles for loss and 18.5 sacks in only 25 games played. Zock was the 2024 SoCon Freshman of the Year.

Zock had five games with multiple sacks and seven games with multiple tackles for loss. His most productive outing came on Sept. 13 vs. Wofford, with eight tackles, 4.5 for loss, a sack and two hurries. He registered at least a half TFL in all but two games in 2025. Zock's most efficient game came on Oct. 25 vs. VMI, when he had two solo stops, both sacks, and four quarterback hurries. Behind Zock's pressure, the Mercer defense ranks first nationally in team sacks, third in first-down defense, fourth in rushing defense, fourth in team TFL, and 17th in third down defense.   WEEK 12 SOCON DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Andrew Zock, So., DE, Mercer (Hawthorne, FL),...Zock was a wrecking ball in Mercer's 63-17 win over Chattanooga, registering six total tackles (four solo), 3.5 tackles for loss (minus-21 yards), 1.5 sacks (minus-11 yards), one fumble recovery, and a quarterback hurry. Zock anchored a defensive effort that held the Mocs to only 12 first downs, 60 yards rushing, and 198 yards of total offense. Zock set new Mercer single-season records for tackles for loss and sacks, leading the team this season with 18.5 tackles behind the line (minus-103 yards) and 11.5 sacks (minus-83 yards). One of the nation's best pass rushers also has a team-high 22 quarterback hurries in 2025.   WEEK 11 SOCON SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Reice Griffith, Jr., PK, Mercer, Pace, Fla.,...Griffith, who won the honor for the third time this season, scored 11 points as Mercer won its top-25 matchup at Western Carolina, 49-47, on Saturday. The junior went 5-for-5 on PAT attempts and connected on field goals from 24 and 37 yards out. The 37-yarder was the game-winning field goal with under two minutes left. The product of Pace, Florida, also kicked four touchbacks on nine kickoffs. Mercer is ranked No. 8 in both the AFCA and Stats Perform polls. Trayanum carried the ball on all five plays on a touchdown drive in the second quarter, including runs of 16, 31 and 21 yards that gave the Rockets a 21-3 edge.   Tucker Gleason threw two of his four touchdown passes to Junior Vandeross III, and Toledo rolled to a 38-9 victory over Ball State on Saturday in a Mid-American Conference regular-season finale. Toledo (7-4, 5-2 Mid-American Conference) moves into a five-way tie for second place in the MAC, a game behind conference leader Western Michigan. Gleason was 15-of-24 passing for 218 yards. He threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first quarter to help Toledo build a 24-3 halftime lead.

His 42-yard touchdown pass to Vandeross III stretched the Rockets' advantage to 31-3 early in the third quarter. The pair connected on a 63-yard touchdown in the fourth. Chip Trayanum add 128 yards rushing on 15 carries with a short-yardage touchdown run for the Rockets. Kiael Kelly completed 13 of 30 passes for 166 yards and threw two interceptions for Ball State (4-7, 3-4 Mid-American Conference). Isaiah Thacker had a 15-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter. (Plant),...Tucker Gleason completed 25-of-31 passes for a season-high 309 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another score, in Toledo's 42-3 victory over NIU. It is the sixth game this season he has thrown for at least 200 yards and the fifth time in his career that he has eclipsed the 300-yard mark. Gleason passed two career milestones, competing the 50th and 51st touchdown passes of his career. He also became ninth Rocket QB to pass the 6,000-yard mark for passing yards, ending the evening with 6,174 yards, passing Kevin Meger (6,023 from 1989-92) for eighth place all-time. - MAC Football

  Tucker Gleason threw two touchdown passes and Chip Trayanum rushed for a score in Toledo's 24-3 win over Miami (Ohio) on Wednesday night. Gleason threw two interceptions in the first 11 minutes of the game, but the RedHawks were held to two punts in the span of eight offensive plays. Gleason was 18-of-31 passing for 169 yards with two touchdowns for Toledo (6-4, 4-2 Mid-American Conference). Trayanum punched in the game's first score from 3-yards out midway through the second quarter to cap a nine-play, 46-yard drive. He ran for 96 yards on 21 carries.

With 18 seconds left in the half, Bryson Hammer returned a punt 54 yards and gained another 7 yards from sideline interference. On the ensuing play, Gleason found Jacob Peterson for a 6-yard touchdown to put the Rockets (6-4, 4-2) up 14-0 with 18 seconds left in the frame. Gleason found Ryder Treadway for a 24-yard strike on the opening drive of the second half, and an interception from Henry Hesson set up a 26-yard field goal for Dom Dzioban and a 24-0 lead. Hesson was 11-of-38 passing for 147 yards with three interceptions for Miami (5-5, 4-2). He was sacked six times, shared by seven different Toledo players.   Tucker Gleason threw for 309 yards and two touchdowns and Trayvon Rudolph opened the game with a 96-yard kickoff return as Toledo downed Northern Illinois 42-3 on Wednesday night. After Andrew Glass hit a 50-yard field goal to pull NIU within 7-3 at 9:25 of the first, Toledo (5-4, 3-2 Mid-American Conference) took control with a 21-point second quarter. Chip Trayanum powered in from 5 yards at 5:08, and Gleason found Junior Vandeross III for a 19-yard score with 51 seconds left to cap an eight-play, 92-yard march.

Kenji Christian finished it off after the break, running in from 10 yards with 4:53 in the third, then hauling in a 16-yard touchdown in the fourth. Gleason went 25 of 31 with no interceptions, repeatedly working to Vandeross, who had six catches for 97 yards. Christian totaled 66 yards and two touchdowns. Northern Illinois (2-7, 1-4) rushed 36 times for 62 yards and completed only 11 of 29 for 141 yards. Toledo ran 29 times for 134 yards with three scores and Gleason averaged 9.4 yards per attempt. Gleason now has 48 career TD passes, moving past Chuck Ealey (45 from 1969-71) and Aaron Opelt (46 from 2006-09) for sixth-place all time among Toledo signal-callers.   Tucker Gleason threw a career-high four touchdown passes, Trayvon Rudolph caught one and had 119 yards receiving, and Kenji Christian rushed for 113 yards in Toledo's 45-10 win over Kent State on Saturday. Gleason was 21-of-28 passing for 294 yards, distributing each score to a different receiver. He opened the scoring for the Rockets (4-3, 2-2 Mid-American Conference) with a 58-yard strike to Rudolph. An 11-yard connection to Ryder Treadway made it 17-10 at the half.

The Rockets had a 552-224 advantage in total yardage, shutting down the Golden Flashes after the first quarter. Cade Wolford scored a 75-yard receiving touchdown on the first play from scrimmage from Kent State (2-5, 1-2), and a field goal two drives later made it 10-0 in the first quarter. From that point on, the Golden Flashes were shut out, mustering 84 yards of offense.   WEEK 5 SOCON OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: CJ Miller, R-Jr., RB, Mercer, Gadsden, Ala., Miller rushed for 172 yards on 29 carries, scoring a pair of rushing touchdowns in Mercer's 38-34 comeback win over ETSU on Saturday. Both of the redshirt junior's scores came from 1-yard out, including the go-ahead touchdown with 5:40 left in the contest. The native of Gadsden, Alabama, also caught four passes for 41 yards in the game. Miller's 172 rushing yards were the highest output by any SoCon player on the ground this season. Miller was also named the Stats Perform FCS National Offensive Player of the Week for his performance against the Bucs.
