  Stanford announced Wednesday that it will invite football players back to campus, effective immediately, under protocols designed to slow the spread of the coronavirus. In a news release, the school said that any student-athletes who opt not to take part in athletic activities because of the pandemic will not be penalized.   Isaiah Sanders will finish out his football eligibility at Stanford as a rare graduate-transfer from Air Force. The Rhodes Scholar candidate and local product from Palmer Ridge was accepted into the Pac-12 school's management science and engineering master's program and will join the Cardinal's football team. Stanford football coach David Shaw announced the addition of Sanders on Wednesday. "We are excited about the addition of Isaiah Sanders because of his experience, his abilities and his character," Shaw said in a statement. "Isaiah will add depth and competition behind Davis Mills and will be a great addition to our locker room." Sanders graduated from the academy in April with a degree in systems engineering (with a human factors focus) and a minor in Spanish. - Colorado Springs Gazette

  Colby Parkinson continued Stanford's legacy of producing tight ends for the NFL when the Seahawks drafted him in the fourth round on Saturday. Selected at No. 133 overall, Parkinson is the eighth Cardinal tight end drafted since 2010, the most for any school during in that span. The last Stanford alum to be picked by the Seahawks was Richard Sherman in the fifth round in 2011. "Colby Parkinson is a size and athletic mismatch," Stanford head coach David Shaw said in a news release. "He makes big plays down the field and in the red zone. He will be a great addition in Brian Schottenheimer's offense and a great weapon for Russell Wilson!" The Simi Valley native was a two-time All-Pac-12 selection and a John Mackey Award semifinalist as a junior.   Stanford All-American cornerback Paulson Adebo announced on Friday that he will return to the Cardinal in 2020. Adebo, who is one of the top cornerbacks in the nation, has played in 22 games with 21 starts over the last two seasons. He has 38 passes defended and eight interceptions in his career and has been named All-Pac-12 first team in each of the last two seasons. In 2018, he was named FWAA second team All-American after leading the nation, and setting a school record, with 24 passes defended.

In 2019, Adebo finished with 33 tackles, 10 pass breakups and four interceptions, despite only playing in the first nine games. He led the Pac-12 in passes defended and interceptions per game, while ranking third and eighth nationally, respectively. In three October games, Adebo totaled five pass breakups, three interceptions and nine tackles., twice earning Conference Defensive Player of the Week honors. - Stanford Football
