Facing fourth-and-3 near midfield on its first possession, Cole Smith completed a 7-yard pass to Jacob Birmelin and Princeton pressed on from there to score the first of three straight touchdowns and defeat Cornell 34-16 on Friday night. The undefeated Tigers (7-0, 4-0 Ivy League), ranked No. 15 in the FCS coaches poll, piled up 334 yards of total offense and scored on their first six possessions into the third quarter.   Jacob Birmelin made a catch in the corner of the end zone in a fifth overtime and Princeton defeated Harvard 18-16 on Saturday, sending a homecoming crowd of some 10,000 streaming onto the field. Trevor Forbes broke up Harvard's last-chance pass in front of the goal line, avoiding a sixth overtime and Princeton (6-0, 3-0 Ivy League), ranked 17th in the FCS coaches poll, won a monster of a game filled with defensive gems and wild twists. Jake Smith, who came in when starter Charles Dean was injured early in the game, threw two apparent game-winning passes in the third overtime for Harvard (5-1, 2-1) and ranked No. 16, only to have both wiped out.

First, Smith's 3-yard dart to Kim Wimberly over the middle was nullified when the officials realized they missed Princeton coach Bob Surace's call for a timeout before the snap. This angered Crimson coach Tim Murphy who spiked his ballcap onto the field after a lengthy argument. Still, Smith threw another apparent winner to B.J. Watson only to have that one wiped out by an offensive pass interference call. The third try, from the 18, was deflected by Princeton's Jeremiah Tyler. Regulation ended in a 13-13 tie. Princeton scored first in overtime when freshman Jeffrey Sexton kicked a 37-yard field goal after missing two in a row earlier in the game. He had previously been a perfect eight-for-eight. Princeton's Cole Smith threw four interceptions during the game and Harvard's Jake Smith threw two. - AP College Football

Jeffrey Sexton kicked a 35-yard field goal into the wind with 10 seconds left and Princeton defeated its instate rival Monmouth 31-28 on Saturday. The Tigers trailed 21-6 midway through the third quarter before rallying for a 28-21 lead, only to have Anthony Budd's 22-yard interception return tie the game with 2:53 to go. Princeton started on its 25 and converted twice on fourth down before Sexton's kick. Collin Eaddy converted one of the fourth downs and also had three short scoring runs in the second half. Sexton also had field goals of 21- and 46-yards in the first half. Cole Smith was 27 of 41 for Princeton (4-0) for 282 yards with a two-point conversion pass to tie the game and an 18-yard strike on fourth-and-6 from the Monmouth 39.   Collin Eaddy ran for 103 yards and his two fourth-quarter touchdowns helped send Princeton past Columbia in a 24-7 win on Saturday. The Tigers (3-0, 1-0 Ivy League) never trailed but needed Eaddy's scores in the last 8:50 to seal it. With a 10-7 lead, and with second-and-7 at Columbia's 26-yard line, Cole Smith connected with Carson Bobo on a 23-yard pass to set up Eaddy's short run and a 10-point advantage. Princeton held Columbia (2-1, 0-1) to a three-and-out, and with 2:26 remaining, Eaddy broke a tackle in the backfield and then ran 17 yards for a touchdown. A senior, Eaddy has 20 career touchdowns. Princeton built a 10-0 lead at halftime, the first points coming on Jeffrey Sexton's career-long 42-yard field goal with 4:47 left in the first quarter. Later, the Tigers made it 10-0 when Ja'Derris Carr rushed in from the 1-yard line for his first career touchdown. In the third, the Lions' Joe Greene threw a 19-yard touchdown to Luke Painton to reduce the deficit. Greene threw for 171 yards. - AP College Football
