  08/30/25 - Dante MoorerSo/2028, Oregon, 6-3, 206 (DS#1 QB) + More +

Dante Moore started at quarterback for No. 7 Oregon and threw for 213 yards with three touchdowns, and the Ducks routed FCS power Montana State 59-13 in the opener for both teams Saturday. It was widely assumed that Moore - Dillon Gabriel's understudy last season - would be the Ducks' quarterback this season but coach Dan Lanning did not publicly name a starter before the first game. True freshman Jordan Davison rushed for 26 yards and three touchdowns and Malik Benson caught five passes for 51 yards and a score for the defending Big Ten champion Ducks, who built a 38-3 lead by halftime.

Justin Lamson, who spent the last two seasons at Stanford, threw for 198 yards for Montana State. The defending Big Sky champion Bobcats are trying to replace star quarterback Tommy Mellott after falling to North Dakota State last season in the FCS title game. Myles Sansted kicked a pair of 42-yard field goals and Adam Jones ran for a fourth-quarter touchdown for the Bobcats. Oregon went ahead quickly, scoring just 63 seconds into the game on Jayden Limar's 16-yard run down the left edge. Kenyon Sadiq pushed past a defender on a 20-yard pass from Moore and scored to make it 14-0. Atticus Sappington added a 23-yard field goal in the opening quarter and the rout was on. Davison rushed for a touchdown from 2 yards out in the second quarter, then added an 8-yard scoring dash in the third before capping his day with a 1-yard TD in the fourth. - Oregon/AP College Football

  08/29/25 - Dylan RaiolaSo/2028, Oregon, 6-3, 230 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Dylan Raiola threw for 243 yards and two touchdowns, and Malcolm Hartzog Jr. picked off Brendan Sorsby's pass in the end zone with 34 seconds left, preserving Nebraska's 20-17 victory over Cincinnati on Thursday night at Arrowhead Stadium. Emmett Johnson had 108 yards rushing while Dane Key and Nyziah Hunter had touchdown catches for the Huskers. Sorsby had just 69 yards passing for the Bearcats, but he also had 96 yards rushing and two scores. And he gamely led them to two second-half touchdowns, and nearly a third that could have won the game had Hartzog not been there to intercept it. The Bearcats actually led 3-0 early and were still within 6-3 late in the first half when they made a crucial mistake.

Despite his offense going nowhere, Cincinnati coach Scott Satterfield tried pushing the ball downfield on first-and-10 at its own 19 with 1:02 left before the break. Sorsby completed a short pass to Caleb Goodie, but the ball popped loose and was recovered by the Huskers, who needed just three plays to punch it into the end zone. Instead of trailing by a field goal, the Bearcats headed to the locker room trailing 13-3 - a seemingly insurmountable deficit given they had managed 20 yards passing and 81 yards of total offense over the first 30 minutes. Cincinnati fought to get back in it in the second half, though. It stopped the Huskers on fourth down early in the third quarter, and Sorsby finished the ensuing drive by diving over the pylon for a touchdown. And when Nebraska answered with a TD of its own, Sorsby needed just 3 1/2 minutes to drive the Bearcats 75 yards and get within 20-17 with 7:15 left. The Bearcats got the ball back with about 2 minutes to go, but Hartzog made the clinching play in the final minute. - Nebraska/AP College Football

Dillon Gabriel threw for 380 yards and two touchdowns in his Oregon debut, but the third-ranked Ducks struggled in their first game as Big Ten members before holding off resilient Idaho 24-14 on Saturday night. While the victory wasn't as decisive as expected, Oregon extended its nonconference home winning streak to a national-best 33 games. Oregon has won 20 straight home openers. Oregon led 14-0 at the half, but Idaho narrowed the deficit on Jack Layne's 36-yard touchdown pass to Jake Cox. After a field goal by Oregon, Layne rushed for a 4-yard TD to make it 17-14. Gabriel found Tez Johnson with a 12-yard scoring pass midway through the final quarter to salvage the win. - AP College Football

  08/31/24 - Dylan RaiolaSo/2028, Oregon, 6-3, 230 (DS#7 QB) + More +

Dylan Raiola passed for 238 yards and two touchdowns in his college debut and Nebraska beat UTEP 40-7 Saturday for its first win in a season opener in five years. Raiola showed poise throughout against the overmatched Miners and flashes of the flair that made him a five-star recruit and the highest-rated player to ever sign with the Cornhuskers. Both of his touchdown passes were perfectly placed. The first, for 59 yards, went to Texas transfer Isaiah Neyor, who was well covered when he caught the ball over his shoulder along the right sideline. Neyor stumbled as he pulled the ball in at the 12, regained his balance and ran into the end zone.

On his second TD pass, Raiola lofted the ball to the outside shoulder of Wake Forest transfer Jahmal Banks, who jumped to bring down the ball in the back corner of the end zone. Raiola had pledged to Ohio State and Georgia before he told Nebraska coach Matt Rhule in mid-December he wanted to play where his father, Dominic, was an All-America center in 2000. His long-anticipated first game for the Huskers brought 86,000 to Memorial Stadium, and he undoubtedly sent the fans home happy. He played one series in the second half and was 19 of 27 for 238 yards when he turned things over to Heinrich Haarberg. - AP College Football

  12/27/23 - Dillon ThienemanJr/2026, Oregon, 6-0, 205 (DS#2 SS) + More +

2023 ALL-BIG TEN SECOND TEAM: Dillon Thieneman, Purdue,...Thieneman was the only Big Ten freshman defender to make one of the three all-league teams. The Westfield, Indiana, native led the Boilermakers with 106 tackles, ranking fifth in the conference, including 74 solo tackles. Thieneman's 6.2 solo tackles per game rank third in the country among all defenders. The 74 solo tackles set a new Purdue freshman record, breaking College Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson's mark of 67 that stood for 40 years.

Thieneman led the Boilermakers in tackles eight times throughout his debut season, while cracking double digits in four of them. Thieneman also ranks second in the country and leads the Big Ten with six interceptions, the most by a Boilermaker since Ricardo Allen recorded six in 2013. He became just the eighth Boilermaker to tally six picks in a season, while becoming the only freshman to reach that mark. His two INTs in the Old Oaken Bucket Game gave him the freshman single-season record, surpassing Stuart Schweigert's season total of five. - Purdue Football

2023 BIG TEN THOMPSON-RANDLE EL FRESHMAN OF THE YEAR: Dillon Thieneman, Purdue,...Right from the start of the 2023 campaign, Thieneman led the Purdue defense all season long and emerged as one of the best defensive players in the country. The Westfield, Indiana, native ranks second nationally in interceptions (6) and third in solo tackles (74), both new Purdue freshman records and more than any other freshman in the country. Thieneman also paces the nation's freshmen in total tackles (106) and forced fumbles (2). His six interceptions are double the nearest competition, as four freshmen around the country have three INTs apiece.

Ending his first season as a Boilermaker, Thieneman went out with a bang by breaking a pair of school records. The defensive back made a pair of interceptions in the first half against Indiana, bringing his season total to six to surpass Schweigert's freshman record of five for a single season. Thieneman became just the eighth Boilermaker to record six interceptions in a season, the first since Ricardo Allen in 2013. Along with his pair of picks, Thieneman recorded a team-high eight tackles to lead the Purdue defense in stopping the Hoosiers. All of his tackles were solo, as he broke College Football Hall of Famer Rod Woodson's Purdue freshman record of solo tackles in a single season. Woodson ended his 1983 freshman campaign with 67 solo tackles, while Thieneman registered 74 this season. - Purdue Football

  03/04/23 - Jestin JacobsrSr/2025, Oregon, 6-4, 229 (DS#23 OLB) + More +

Jestin Jacobs made his biggest impact as third-year freshman at Iowa in 2021 and his former teammates expect him to get back to that level of impact when he takes the field at Oregon. Jacobs, who had 53 tackles, two pass breakups, an interception and a forced fumble in 2021, played in just two games last season due to leg injury and had only six tackles with one tackle for loss and a pass breakup. He transferred to Oregon in December. "He's a very talented player and I'm excited what he's going to do with his next step here," former Iowa All-American linebacker Jack Campbell said. "I feel like he's a guy who has a lot of different tools that a lot of guys don't have. I feel like he's going to be playing at a high level this season."

Jacobs was fifth in tackles for Iowa in 2021 behind Campbell (143) and Seth Benson (105) at linebacker. He was set to be in a similar role this season before the injury, which occurred in the season opener and got worse after he returned three weeks later. "Our defense is extremely complex and he was a really smart, instinctive player," former Iowa tight end Sam LaPorta said. "That was a big loss on our defense but he's a great player and great dude too." Entering his fifth-year junior year, Jacobs has two years of eligibility remaining. His former teammates believe Jacobs will return to form with the Ducks. - The Oregonian

  03/04/23 - Junior AngilaurSr/2025, Oregon, 6-5, 310 (DS#999 OG) + More +

One trait immediately comes to mind when former Texas teammates think of offensive lineman Junior Angilau: Strength. The 6-foot-6, 311-pound Angilau, who transferred to Oregon this winter, routinely faced off with 6-foot-2, 344-pound defensive tackle Keondre Coburn during practice from 2018-21 and those battles made each better players.

"When I mean strong, I never met nobody that strong," Coburn said. "He's so happy. Throughout the whole practice, tired, not tired, sad, not sad, happy. Any moment he's always going to put a smile on the field in front of anybody. I feel like Junior is probably the best thing that really could've happened to me because we both came in together and that's my dog forever. I'm so sad that he had to leave Texas, but he's going to be doing great things at Oregon." Angilau started 34 games at left and right guard for Texas but missed this season due to a knee injury he suffered before the season. He's vying for a starting role at one of those interior positions for the Ducks in 2023. - The Oregonian

  02/26/23 - Traeshon HoldenrSr/2025, Oregon, 6-2, 205 (DS#42 WR) + More +

Traeshon Holden was reinstated to the Oregon football team Friday, coach Dan Lanning announced. Holden, a transfer from Alabama, was dismissed from the team Feb. 15 after he was arrested on charges of alleged unlawful use of a weapon, coercion and menacing for an altercation that occurred at the Gordon Lofts apartments in the Fifth Street Market area in the early morning hours of that same day. Lane County District Attorney Patricia Perlow chose not to prosecute Holden, saying in an email Monday "The evidence does not support charging Mr. Holden with any crime."

Lanning reversed course as well, welcoming the 6-foot-3, 200-pound receiver back to the team. "Following the release of new information from the Lane County District Attorney's office, student-athlete Traeshon Holden has been reinstated to the Oregon football team," Lanning said in a statement released by the school Friday. "We will always take allegations of this nature very seriously. However, when new information is provided by authorities, such as in this instance, disciplinary action will be reevaluated and adjusted, when appropriate." Holden issued a statement through his attorney, Jacob Houze, saying "I'm happy to have been exonerated, and I'm looking forward to a great season with the Ducks." - Register Guard

The Lane County District Attorney's office will not be filing charges against former Oregon Ducks receiver Traeshon Holden, according to his attorney. Holden was dismissed from the UO football team following his Wednesday morning arrest by Eugene police on accusations of felony unlawful use of a weapon and coercion and misdemeanor menacing.

The Lane County District Attorney's office told KEZI it reviewed body camera footage and video surveillance and interviewed an additional witness and will not be filing charges against Holden. "Traeshon Holden did nothing wrong," Jacob Houze, his attorney, said in a statement. "The Lane County District Attorney's thorough review of the evidence has confirmed that. Now that he has been exonerated, he deserves to have his good name back." The Lane County District Attorney's office could not be reached Friday night and district attorney Patricia Perlow did not immediately respond to an email from The Oregonian/OregonLive. - The Oregonian

  02/16/23 - Traeshon HoldenrSr/2025, Oregon, 6-2, 205 (DS#42 WR) + More +

Former Alabama wide receiver Traeshon Holden was dismissed Wednesday by Oregon after being arrested earlier in the day. Holden appears in Lane County, Oregon online jail records with three charges after a Wednesday morning arrest by Eugene police: menacing, unlawful use of a weapon and coercion. The menacing charge is a misdemeanor, while the other two charges are felonies.

Ducks coach Dan Lanning issued a statement to On3 Sports about Holden's arrest and dismissal. "We are aware of the incident involving Traeshon Holden, and he has been dismissed from our team," Lanning said. "We have high standards for the student-athletes, coaches, and staff in our football program, and we are disappointed when these standards are not met. We will continue to hold everyone in our program accountable for meeting our expectations." Holden transferred in December to Oregon after three seasons with the Tide. The junior finished sixth on the team this past season with 331 yards on 25 catches, including six touchdowns. Holden began the 2022 season as a starter but saw his role decrease later in the regular season. - Birmingham News
