He also set a school career mark with 31 punts over 50 yards. He punted 45 times this season, with nine punts over 50 yards and 14 punts downed inside the opponent's 20-yard line. UNA led the Big South in net punting this fall, with just nine of Gurley's punts returned. Marshall led the Blue Raiders in receptions with 45 grabs for 510 yards and six touchdowns, while Grate was second on the team in tackles and had three interceptions.   NEC DEFENSIVE ROOKIE OF THE YEAR (COACHES): DB Gregory Reddick, Saint Francis,...The wait proved worth it for Reddick, who redshirted as a freshman in 2019 before missing the 2020 season due to Saint Francis' opt out. The defensive back stepped up and earned significant reps at safety in 2021, logging a conference-high 10 pass break-ups. Reddick forced two fumbles during the season and made one interception, which denied Bryant at the SFU 5-yard line in an eventual 18-17 setback.   Parker Driggers ran for touchdowns, Jaylen Gipson ran for another two and North Alabama defeated Hampton 35-27 on Saturday. The Lions (3-8, 2-4 Big South) never trailed and led 35-21 after Driggers' 2-yard touchdown run with 3:11 left in the game. Tymere Robinson scored for Hampton (5-6, 3-4) with 1:06 to go but North Alabama recovered the onside kick. Blake Dever completed 15 of 28 passes for 254 yards and the Lions had a total of 351 passing yards.   Rett Files threw all three of his touchdown passes to Takairee Kenebrew and ran for another score as North Alabama rolled to a 45-22 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday. Early in the fourth quarter, Files and Kenebrew connected on a 76-yard score that gave North Alabama (2-6, 1-2 Big South Conference) a 24-7 lead. Files added a 1-yard TD run with 10:29 remaining following a Charleston Southern (2-4, 1-3) turnover. The pair also had a 59-yard yard touchdown and a 4-yarder, each in the first quarter. Files was 17-of-36 passing for 235 yards. Kenebrew finished with four catches for 141 yards.   Parker Driggers ran for 145 yards and three touchdowns - including a school- and Big South Conference-record 99-yarder - on just 12 carries and North Alabama picked up its first win of the season with a 42-31 victory over Robert Morris on Saturday. Driggers staked the Lions (1-6, 1-2) to leads of 7-0 and 14-7 with short touchdowns runs before racing 99 yards to the end zone to make it a two-score lead. Jaxton Carson added a 4-yard TD run and Rett Files connected with E.J. Rogers for a 38-yard score as North Alabama took a 35-10 lead into halftime. Files capped the scoring for the Lions with a 32-yard TD toss to Kobe Warden in the final period. Files was 20-of-30 passing for 262 yards with two interceptions. George Martin completed 17 of 40 passes for 252 yards and two third-quarter TDs - an 18-yarder to James Westry and a 22-yarder to Alijah Jackson - for the Colonials (2-3, 1-2).   SEPT 13 BIG SOUTH SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: North Alabama punter Joe Gurley (Killen, Ala.) averaged 45.1 yards on eight punts against nationally-ranked Chattanooga, with just four returned for a total of eight yards. He boomed two kicks beyond 50 yards with a long of 57, had two downed inside the Mocs' 20-yard line, and did not record a touchback. On the eight ensuing drives, Chattanooga managed only one score (field goal), punted four times and committed two turnovers.   Defensive back KJ Trujillo is the latest member of the Colorado football team to enter his name in the NCAA transfer portal. Trujillo, a true sophomore, announced his decision on social media Tuesday. This year, Trujillo was moved to safety and played as a reserve at both safety and cornerback at times. He was 14-of-17 on field goal attempts with a long of 48. He led the Big South in field goal percentage (82.3) and was second in the league in field goals made. He made four of his five attempts from over 40 yards. Gurley led the team in scoring with 60 points. He averaged 57.4 yards on 40 kickoffs, with 12 touchbacks.
