  Owen Wright ran into the end zone in the fifth overtime to give William & Mary a 31-29 victory over Elon in a wild finish on Saturday. In the final OT, quarterback Hollis Mathis ran the ball then pitched it to Wright, who ran untouched to complete the 2-point play. Elon's Davis Cheek threw an incomplete pass to Cole Taylor in the end zone to end the game. The teams were scoreless in the first, second and fourth overtimes. Each scored a touchdown and missed the 2-point conversion in the third extra period. Wright ran for 113 yards and a touchdown, and Mathis threw for 176 yards and a score. Donavyn Lester added a pair of touchdown runs for the Tribe (3-6, 1-4 Colonial Athletic Association), who committed a turnover and missed two field goals in the extra periods. Skyler Davis made three second half field goals for Elon (4-5, 3-3 Colonial Athletic Association), but missed three attempts in the extra periods.   Kenji Bahar threw for 332 yards and a touchdown, scored on a 65-yard run and Monmouth shocked Kennesaw State 45-21 on Saturday in a showdown of teams with perfect Big South Conference records. The Hawks scored 42 unanswered points on six possessions to defeat the the No. 5 FCS team, their first win in five games in the series. Monmouth (7-2, 4-0), was trailing 7-3 before Devell Jones scored on a pair of short touchdown runs. Peter Guerriero followed with a 10-yard scoring run before Tymere Berry's 41-yard interception return with a minute left in the first half made it 31-7.

Bahar and Zach Tredway then hooked up on a 92-yard catch-and-run before Bahar's big run. Bahar finished with 92 yards rushing on just six carries and completed 20 of 27 passes. Guerriero, who entered the game as the first FCS back over 1,000 yards, finished with 77 on 21 carries. Tredway had 162 yards on seven receptions. While the Hawks piled up 517 yards, the Owls (7-2, 2-1) had 407, but 110 came on two big touchdown plays after they trailed 45-7. Kennesaw State's two quarterbacks were 2-of-15 passing for 55 yards while the 50-yard touchdown pass went from halfback Bronson Rechsteiner to Shaquil Terry. - AP College Football

  OCT 28 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Monmouth running back Pete Guerriero (Lyndhurst, N.J.) rushed for a career-high 221 yards on 22 carries (10.05 yards per rush) with a 42-yard touchdown run in the Hawks' 35-13 win at Charleston Southern. He had seven rushes for longer than 10 yards -- including a 63-yarder that set up Monmouth's third TD of the day, and gained 150 in the second half. Guerriero was responsible for nine first downs (eight rushing) on the night.   Pete Guerriero ran for 221 yards and a score and Kenji Bahar threw three touchdown passes and Monmouth beat Charleston Southern 35-13 on Saturday. Guerriero averaged 10-yards per carry on the day. Almost half his yardage total occurred on two plays, one a 63-yard jaunt and the other a 42-yard touchdown run with 5:08 left to play that put the Hawks (6-2, 3-0 Big South) up 35-6. Monmouth led 14-6 at intermission and two third quarter scores sealed the win. Devell Jones scored on a 4-yard run to end a seven-play, 88-yard drive. Near the end of the third, Bahar threw an 8-yard scoring pass to Shawn Clark. Bahar finished with 194 yards passing. Jack Chambers led the Buccaneers (2-6, 0-2) with 231 yards passing and rushed for 92 yards on nine carries and a touchdown. - AP College Football

  OCT 21 BIG SOUTH OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Monmouth quarterback Kenji Bahar (Baltimore, Md.) was 20-of-26 passing (76.9 percent) for 327 yards and two touchdowns, and ran for another score in leading the Hawks' to a 49-28 win over Gardner-Webb. He directed an offense that amassed 599 yards, threw touchdown passes of 42 and 22 yards, and also had a 50-yard completion on the day. Bahar scored on a 5-yard run, finished with 347 yards of offense and posted a 207.95 quarterback efficiency rating.   Kenji Bahar threw two touchdown passes and ran for another score as Monmouth rolled past Gardner-Webb 49-28 on Saturday. Bahar was 20-of-26 passing for 327 yards for the Hawks (5-2, 2-0 Big South Conference). Pete Guerriero ran for 186 yards and two touchdowns and Devell Jones also rushed for a pair of scores. Monmouth outgained the Runnin' Bulldogs 599-360 yards. Bahar capped the Hawks' 10-play, 81-yard opening drive with a 42-yard touchdown throw to Terrance Greene. Greene pulled down a 22-yard scoring pass from Bahar late in the second quarter and Jones ran for a touchdown just before the break and the Hawks were up 21-7 at halftime. Guerriero broke for touchdown runs of 58 and 65 yards in the third, giving Monmouth a 42-21 advantage with 4:28 left in the quarter.   Kenji Bahar threw three touchdown passes and Monmouth blanked winless Presbyterian College, 45-0 in the Hawks' Big South Conference opener on Saturday afternoon. Monmouth has won four of six conference games with the Blue Hose, who will join the non-scholarship Pioneer Football League beginning next fall. Bahar connected with Lonnie Moore IV for a 1-yard touchdown on the final play of a 16-14 win over Wagner College last week, and the pair combined to cap the opening drive against Presbyterian, this time from 14-yards out.

Pete Guerriero ran 48-yards for a score and after Presbyterian fumbled at its own 2-yard line, Devell Jones punched in to make it 21-0 in the first quarter. Jones added a 5-yard touchdown in the second quarter and Bahar hit Shawn Clark from 36-yards out to make it 38-0 at intermission. Bahar hit Terrance Greene Jr. for a 20-yard touchdown early in the third quarter to complete the scoring. Bahar completed 16 of 23 passes for 233 yards while Guerriero carried 11 times for 81.   Kenji Bahar directed a 12-play 71-yard last-chance drive, and Lonnie Moore IV scored the winning touchdown after he bounced off a defender before rolling into the end zone, lifting Monmouth to a 16-14 come-from behind win at Wagner Saturday night. Facing fourth-and-goal at the 1, Bahar, rolling to his right, threw a short slant to Moore, who caught it at the 5, caromed off a would-be tackler and rolled into the end zone with the game-winner with 23 seconds remaining.

The Hawks (3-2) had trailed ever since Wagner (1-5) scored early in the fourth to take a 14-10 lead. Bahar completed six of seven passes on the final drive, ran for a first down and survived a sack and a tackle for loss. He finished 25-for-38 for 216 yards. Moore caught seven passes for 77 yards; Zach Tredway caught nine for 74 yards. Monmouth gained 352 yards of offense to Wagner's 191. He also tallied a tackle-for-loss plus two quarterback hurries as part of a defense that forced seven punts and held the Leopards to minus-12 yards rushing. His TFL as well as one quarterback pressure forced third down plays, he had another stop for no gain, and also forced a fourth-down situation during the afternoon.   Matt Mosquera kicked a 28-yard field goal in overtime to lift Monmouth to its first win over Albany in eight tries, 38-35 in a non-conference battle between former league rivals Saturday afternoon. The Hawks' seven-game losing streak to the Great Danes dated to 2006. The game was just the second meeting between the teams as non-conference opponents after Albany left the Northeast Conference for the Colonial Athletic Association and Monmouth joined the Big South.

Already the Big South Special Teams Player of the Week after tying his career record with three field goals in a win over Lafayette, Mosquera kicked three more against Albany (1-2), connecting on kicks from 47- and 21-yards out in the second quarter. Pete Guerriero scored from 26-yards out in the first quarter, and after Terrance Green Jr. pulled in a pass from Kenji Bahar for a 39-yard touchdown and Bahar tossed to Zach Tredway for a two-point conversion, the Hawks (2-1) held a 21-0 lead with 5:33 left in the first half. Jeff Undercuffler brought Albany back with two touchdown passes to Juwan Green before halftime, hitting on a 64-yard bomb and a 28-yard strike that made it 21-14.   Pete Guerriero ran for 152 yards and a touchdown, Devell Jones converted a key fourth down in the fourth quarter and Monmouth defeated Lafayette 24-21 on Saturday. Monmouth (1-1) rushed for 223 yards and allowed minus-12 rushing. Monmouth took a 21-7 lead with five seconds remaining in the first half when Kenji Bahar passed to Joey Aldarelli for a 10-yard touchdown. Lafayette (0-2) closed to within 21-14 on an 80-yard pass from Keegan Shoemaker to Nick Pearson, and within 24-21 on a 13-yard pass from Shoemaker to Julian Spigner with 5:34 remaining.

The Hawks then ran out the clock, a key play being Jones' 16-yard run on fourth-and-one. Shoemaker, a freshman making his first start, complete 20 of 32 passes for 256 yards with the two touchdowns and an interception. Pearson caught six passes for 118 yards. Guerriero opened the scoring with a 19-yard touchdown run in the first quarter and Matt Mosquera added two field goals for a 13-0 Monmouth lead in the middle of the second quarter. - AP College Football

  Owen Wright ran for two touchdowns, William & Mary scored 24 points in the third quarter, and the Tribe defeated Lafayette 30-17 on Saturday in Mike London's debut as their coach. After Wright scored on a 4-yard run with a two-point conversion, William & Mary led 14-10 early in the third quarter. Lafayette fumbled on its next three possessions and the Tribe capitalized with another 16 points. Jake Johnston kicked a 21-yard field goal, Wright scored on an 11-yard run and quarterback Hollis Mathis added a 3-yard TD run. Mathis completed 6 of 13 passes for 66 yards and rushed for 127 yards on 16 carries. Wright gained 63 yards and the Tribe totaled 255 yards rushing among 418 total yards.

Lafayette freshman quarterback Keegan Shoemaker connected with John Gay on a 26-yard touchdown pass with 4:42 remaining in the game. Shoemaker passed for 127 yards, as did starting quarterback Cole Northrup, who was also the Leopards' leading rusher with 39 yards. London spent the past two seasons as head coach at Howard. He previously coached at Richmond, when the Spiders won the 2008 FCS national championship, and was head coach at Virginia 2010-2015. - AP College Football
