  Jason Shelley threw for 221 yards and a touchdown and Missouri State beat Youngstown State 25-22 on Saturday night in a game featuring seven lead changes. Missouri State's 92-yard scoring drive in the fourth quarter, capped by Shelley's 9-yard touchdown pass to Tyrone Scott with 8:23 remaining, proved to be the game-winning score. The drive included four third-down conversions, including a third-and-18 completion. It secured Shelley's sixth fourth-quarter comeback in two seasons. Kevon Latulas had 14 carries for 78 yards and a score for Missouri State (4-6, 2-5). Scott made five grabs for 58 yards and a touchdown.   OCT 31 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: CB Jamal McMurrin, Missouri State - In his first career start, the former Washington State product posted his first career interception in Missouri State's historic homecoming win over Western Illinois on Saturday. McMurrin was instrumental in the Bears' breakthrough defensive performance that surrendered just 229 total yards on the day. McMurrin's second-quarter pick (and 29-yard return) set up a Bears touchdown two plays later and helped MSU take a 45-7 lead into the half. It was the most points the Bears have scored in an opening half since 1992.   OCT 31 MISSOURI VALLEY PLAYER OF THE WEEK NOMINEE: QB Jason Shelley, Missouri State - Shelley passed for three touchdowns and rushed for another to lead Missouri State to its highest point total in 30 years in Saturday's win over Western Illinois. Shelley engineered scoring drives on all eight possessions he played, racking up 346 yards of total offense and completing 17-of-22 passes (77.3 completion percentage) for 311 yards. It marked his sixth 300-yard passing game at Missouri State and the 17th game of 200 or more passing yards with the Bears (20 games). His three TD passes against the Leathernecks moved Shelley into a tie for second place on MSU's career TD pass list (38).   Jason Shelley threw three touchdown passes and Missouri State scored five rushing touchdowns as the Bears roared to a 64-14 rout of winless Western Illinois on Saturday. Missouri State scored on all seven of its first-half possessions, including six touchdowns after Jose Pizano converted a 22-yard field goal on the opening possession. The Bears punted just twice in the second half. Shelley was 17-of-22 passing for 311 yards. Jacardia Wright carried 16 times for 82 yards and two touchdowns to lead a ground attack that carried 44 times for 214 yards for Missouri State (3-5, 1-4 Missouri Valley). Clay Bruno completed just 14 of his 34 pass attempts for 207 yards and a touchdown with an interception for Western Illinois (0-8, 0-5). He also added a 24-yard rushing touchdown in the second quarter that put the Bears ahead 17-0 at the time. For the night, Shelley was 24-for-43 with no interceptions and a touchdown.
