  Mississippi beat one of the best defensive teams in the Southeastern Conference with a shut-down performance of its own. A.J. Finley returned an interception 52 yards for a touchdown and Matt Corral threw for 247 yards and a touchdown to lead No. 12 Ole Miss to a 29-19 win over No. 11 Texas A&M on Saturday night. "The defense just had an amazing day," Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin said. "That came against one of the hottest teams in America. Just an unbelievable great day overall." The Rebels (8-2, 3-3 Southeastern) held a 15-13 lead in the fourth quarter before Ashanti Cistrunk's interception set up a 13-yard touchdown run by Snoop Conner with 6:32 left. "I just walked right into it. That's all there was to it," Cistrunk said. "We tied up on the ball, but I knew I had it." Finley provided an insurmountable cushion on the next series, grabbing Zach Calzada's throw and returning it down the Texas A&M sideline. "It was a crazy moment," Finley said. "It was my first pick-six since I've been here, so that was really big for me." Texas A&M (7-3, 4-3), which came in second in the SEC to Georgia in in yards per play allowed, trailed 15-0 at half, but whittled the lead to two in the fourth quarter on a 24-yard scoring run by Devon Achane and field goals by Seth Small.

Achane ran for a 9-yard touchdown to finish the scoring with 3:11 left. Corral completed 24 of 37 passes and Caden Costa kicked field goals of 33 and 32 yards. Chance Campbell and Keidron Smith added a safety by tackling Isaiah Spiller in the end zone in the first half. "That was a disappointing thing coming up here," A&M coach Jimbo Fisher said about the scoreless first half. "We put ourselves behind the eight ball. Give Ole Miss credit. They played a really good game." The Rebels finished with 504 yards of total offense, highlighted by Jerrion Ealy with 24 carries for 152 yards and added 34 yards on four receptions. - Mississippi/AP College Football

  Spencer Sanders threw two touchdown passes, No. 11 Oklahoma State had eight sacks and the Cowboys beat West Virginia 24-3 on Saturday. Oklahoma State (8-1, 5-1 Big 12, No. 11 CFP) has won seven straight over the Mountaineers (4-5, 2-4). The Cowboys pushed around West Virginia's offensive line all game. Devin Harper and Brock Martin had two sacks apiece for the Cowboys. West Virginia, which compiled 492 total yards in a win over Iowa State last week, was limited to 133 total yards Saturday, including 17 yards on the ground against the Big 12's top rushing defense. "That was a pretty impressive defensive performance by our guys," Oklahoma State coach Mike Gundy said. "I'm kind of shocked, to be honest with you, that we could play that well defensively against them on the road as well as they've played offensively the last two weeks. Defensively, we just dominated the game. I don't know what else to say." Both of Sanders' TD passes went to Tay Martin in the right corner of the end zone in single coverage.

A roughing-the-passer call against West Virginia's Jared Bartlett on third down gave the Cowboys first-and-goal at the 6 in the second quarter. Sanders found the 6-foot-3 Martin in the end zone on the next play. West Virginia's Graeson Malashevich couldn't corral a third-quarter punt and Oklahoma State's Korie Black recovered at the Mountaineers' 26. Four players later Sanders and Martin connected for a 12-yard TD for a 17-3 lead. Sanders finished 21 of 31 for 182 yards. He threw one interception.   This was what No. 15 Oklahoma State fans have been waiting for. Spencer Sanders threw for 157 yards and two touchdowns and rushed for 53 yards and a score, all in the first half, to lead Oklahoma State to a 55-3 victory over Kansas on Saturday night. Jaylen Warren added 69 yards rushing on just nine carries and backup running back Dominic Richardson gained 79 yards and a touchdown on 11 rushes for the Cowboys (7-1, 4-1 Big 12). "It's just a great chemistry moment for our team, I thought we just all grew as a team today," Sanders said. "No matter what the score was, we just kept moving." After suffering their first loss, 24-21 to Iowa State last week, the Cowboys responded by dominating Kansas.

It was a rough day for Kansas (1-7, 0-5), which lost its seventh consecutive contest. Backup quarterback Miles Kendrick, who entered the game in the third quarter with the Jayhawks trailing 45-0, led them with 32 yards rushing on nine carries. One week after an outstanding performance in which Kansas led No. 4 Oklahoma 17-7 late in the third quarter before the Sooners rallied for a 35-23 triumph, the Jayhawks looked more like their usual selves in this one. "It's frustrating for them, it's frustrating for the coaches, but ultimately it's my job to get this team to play more consistently. And I haven't done that," KU coach Lance Leipold said. "We're going to continue to work at it. We have a long way to go yet, in growing and understanding. We'll find out if (that Oklahoma game was) a blip on how we play the rest of the season out." Oklahoma State, which hadn't scored more than 32 points this season and averaged 25.7, led 38-0 at halftime and held a 331-49 advantage in yards.   Lane Kiffin is not ready to proclaim No. 12 Mississippi as an elite team. Not yet, anyway. "We're good, but not great. But we're close," the coach said after the Rebels defeated LSU 31-17 Saturday with 31 unanswered points that spanned the second and third periods. "We've got to get healthy. If we can do that and execute, then we could be a really special team," he said. Matt Corral threw for a touchdown and ran as the Rebels (6-1, 3-1 Southeastern Conference) defeated LSU (4-4, 2-3) and lame duck coach Ed Orgeron. The Tigers lost in their first game since it was announced Orgeron wouldn't return next season. A former Mississippi coach, he led the Tigers to the national championship less than two years ago.

Mississippi retired the No. 10 jersey of former All-America quarterback Eli Manning at halftime. The capacity crowd of 64,523 enthusiastically cheered Manning and his family members during the tribute. "It was a good day and a good win," Kiffin said. "I've got to be more positive. It wasn't the prettiest win, but considering Matt wasn't 100 percent and how banged up we are, well, I've just got to be more positive." Trailing 7-0, Corral led four consecutive scoring drives, including a 3-yard touchdown run and a 2-yard touchdown pass to Casey Kelly. The Rebels led 17-7 at halftime and kept pulling away. Corral enhanced his status as a Heisman Trophy contender with an efficient performance after being considered questionable from injuries sustained in last week's win over Tennessee.   No. 13 Mississippi held off Tennessee 31-26 on Saturday night after Rebels coach Lane Kiffin avoided being by hit by golf balls as Volunteers fans pelted the field with objects in the chaotic final minutes. Ole Miss stopped Tennessee a yard shy of a first down on a fourth-and-24 pass with just over a minute left. After that play, and the review that confirmed the spot of the ball, Tennessee fans pelted the field with objects. Tennessee's cheerleaders, dance team and band were ordered out of the stadium and police cleared the student section. "I don't know if I'm more excited that we found a way to win or that I didn't get hit with the golf balls that they were throwing at me," former Vols coach Kiffin told SEC Network, holding up a yellow golf ball. "I still have my souvenir golf ball," Kiffin said. "I also got hit with bottles with some brown stuff in them. I don't think those fans would waste moonshine. You've got one of the most passionate fan bases in America. A call didn't go their way." Play resumed after about a 20-minute delay.

Matt Corral threw for 231 yards and two touchdowns and ran for 195 yards for Mississippi (5-1, 2-1 Southeastern Conference). Hendon Hooker threw for 233 yards and a touchdown and for Tennessee (4-3, 2-2) and ran for 108 yards and a score. "I'm disappointed in the way the game ended with things being thrown from the crowd," Tennessee coach Josh Heupel said. "I know that's very few of our crowd members.   Kendre Miller rushed for 185 yards and three touchdowns, Zach Evans had 143 yards and two scores without a carry after halftime and TCU ran past Texas Tech 52-31 on Saturday night. Evans didn't have another carry he appeared to hurt his foot on a 1-yard touchdown with 1:35 left in the first half that pushed the Horned Frogs (3-2, 1-1 Big 12) to a 35-10 lead. It was his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, and his sixth in the last eight games going back to last season.

TCU coach Gary Patterson said Evans, whose 17 carries before halftime were more than he had in each of the last two games, could have returned if needed. "We just made a decision...We wanted to be very careful about it, the injury," Patterson said. "It's not a good turf for foot injuries." The Frogs, playing their first road game of the season, piled up 394 yards rushing. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 33-yard score by Miller. Henry Colombi, under intense pressure most of the night, completed 23 of 41 passes for 344 yards for Texas Tech (4-2, 1-2), which finished with 558 total yards.   Sam Williams and Tavius Robinson pressured Arkansas quarterback KJ Jefferson on a potential game-winning 2-point conversion and No. 17 Mississippi held on for a wild 52-51 victory Saturday against the 13th-ranked Razorbacks after allowing a touchdown in the final play of regulation. Arkansas (4-2, 1-2 SEC) scored on a 9-yard touchdown pass from Jefferson to Warren Thompson as time expired to pull within a point and decided to go for the win. Jefferson rolled right and under extended pressure from Williams and Robinson, overthrew Treylon Burks in the end zone.

Ole Miss (4-1, 1-1) took the lead with 1:07 remaining as Matt Corral threw a 68-yard touchdown pass to Braylon Sanders, accompanied by a soaring clipboard flip by a trailing coach Lane Kiffin, racing down the home sideline. Arkansas answered with a 9-play, 75-yard touchdown drive to set up the decisive 2-point play. The frantic final two minutes capped an overwhelming offensive performance by both teams with 1,287 total yards and 14 touchdowns. Corral accounted for four touchdowns, two on runs of 5 and 7 yards and passed 14 of 21 for 287 yards.   Spencer Sanders completed 22 of 34 passes for 344 yards and two touchdowns, leading Oklahoma State to a 31-20 victory over No. 25 Kansas State on Saturday night. Jaylen Warren rushed for 123 yards on 27 carries and added 81 yards on four receptions for Oklahoma State (4-0, 1-0 Big 12). Sanders also scored a rushing touchdown as Oklahoma State's defense stifled Kansas State's potential comeback attempt. "I made sure I stayed and I watched some extra little film this week, I just wanted to play better," said Spencer, who threw for just 82 yards last week in a 21-20 win over Boise State. "I feel like we all played better, everybody. Heck of a job by the defense. I'm happy we won and I'm just excited to see how much further we can progress." The Cowboys failed to score in the second half for the second consecutive contest.

After compiling 294 yards of total offense and building a 31-10 advantage late in the second quarter, Oklahoma State went cold, gaining just 54 yards in the third quarter, including four consecutive three-and-out possessions. "In the second half, we really weren't trying to do that, in fact we talked about not doing that," OSU coach Mike Gundy said of letting up with a big lead. "We didn't block as well for a quarter and a half.   The quarterback competition at Southern California might be over before it even started. Jaxson Dart did not practice Tuesday after the freshman sustained a knee injury in the Trojans' 45-14 win at Washington State, while three-year starter Kedon Slovis took first-team reps after being knocked out of the game because of a neck injury. Interim coach Donte Williams would not discuss the status of Dart, who came off the bench to throw for 391 yards and four touchdowns. That included whether Dart needed an MRI or other tests. "Shoot, I hope he's here tomorrow, so we'll see. I know he just wasn't here today," Williams said. Williams had indicated there would be an open competition following Dart's debut in which he rallied USC to victory in its first game since Clay Helton was fired as coach last Monday. Dart was named the Pac-12 offensive player and freshman of the week after going 30 of 46 passing, though he was intercepted twice, and rushing for a team-high 32 yards.
