  09/06/25 - Kewan LacySo/2028, Mississippi, 5-10, 210 (DS#33 RB) + More +

Kewan Lacy ran for 138 yards and a touchdown to help No. 20 Mississippi beat Kentucky 30-23 on Saturday in the Southeastern Conference opener for both teams. The Rebels (2-0) avenged a 20-17 loss to the Wildcats last year in Oxford and have won four of the past five games against Kentucky. Lacy and quarterback Austin Simmons accounted for 376 of 457 total yards of offense for Ole Miss. Simmons threw for 235 yards and overcame a pair of interceptions that resulted in an early 10-0 deficit.

Harrison Wallace III caught four passes for 117 yards for the Rebels, who had four explosive plays that went for 20 or more yards. Wallace hauled in a 55-yard strike from Simmons in the second quarter that led to Ole Miss' first score. Seth McGowan rushed for 88 yards and two touchdowns for Kentucky (1-1). Zach Calzada threw for 149 yards before leaving the game in the fourth quarter after taking an apparent hit to the shoulder. - Mississippi/AP College Football

  08/30/25 - Austin SimmonsrSo/2028, Mississippi, 6-4, 215 (DS#11 QB) + More +

Austin Simmons completed 20 of 31 passes for 341 yards and three touchdowns to help No. 21 Mississippi rout Georgia State 63-7 on Saturday night in the opener for both teams. Simmons, a third-year sophomore, is replacing Jaxson Dart, who set multiple school records before being selected in the first round of the NFL draft by the New York Giants. Simmons also threw two interceptions. Ole Miss, beginning Lane Kiffin's sixth season as coach, has won 24 of its last 29 openers. The Rebels had 295 yards rushing, led by Kewan Lacy with 108 yards and three touchdowns on 16 carries. Simmons often showed the poise, touch and accuracy he displayed when coming off the bench to go 5 for 6 to lead a touchdown drive last year in an upset victory over then-No. 3 Georgia. - Mississippi/AP College Football

WEEK 1 SUN BELT DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Wydett Williams Jr., ULM, (Jr., DB - Lake Providence, La.),...Warhawks junior defensive back Wydett Williams Jr. tallied a game-high 10 tackles to lift ULM to a 30-14 victory over Jackson State to commence the Bryant Vincent era with a win. The Lake Providence, La., product also added 0.5 tackles for loss and 0.5 sacks, as part of a ULM defense that conceded just 59 rushing yards. Williams Jr. provided the game's lone turnover in his debut in a Warhawk uniform via interception—leading directly to the go-ahead touchdown that gave ULM a 14-7 halftime advantage it would not relinquish. - Sun Belt football

  08/31/24 - Jaxson DartSr/2025, Mississippi, 6-2, 223 (DS#3 QB) + More +

Jaxson Dart threw five touchdown passes and ran for a score in leading eight consecutive first-half scoring drives, helping No. 6 Mississippi overpower Furman 76-0 on Saturday night. Dart opened the scoring with a 15-yard run and the Rebels raced to a 52-0 halftime lead in the opener for both teams. Dart was 22 of 27 for 418 yards in the first half before yielding to Austin Simmons, who added a touchdown pass in the third quarter.

Ole Miss scored on first half series of 75, 90, 46, 20, 63, 81, 61 and 58 yards, highlighted by touchdown passes of 61 and 22 yards to Tre Harris. He had eight receptions for 179 yards. The Rebels finished with 772 yards of total offense, 502 in the first half, adding Caden Davis' two field goals and touchdown runs of 17 and 46 yards by Matt Jones to cap the scoring. Jones led all rushers with 68 yards. Furman only crossed midfield four times, and ended nine other series with negative yardage. The Paladins had 172 yards of total offense, including Carson Jones with 15-of-25 passing for 119 yards. - AP College Football

  03/08/23 - Sage RyanrSr/2026, Mississippi, 5-11, 200 (DS#13 SS) + More +

Injuries limited Sage Ryan to four games with two starts as a freshman. Then last year, he became a rotational player who recorded 23 tackles, one pass breakup and two forced fumbles while appearing in every game behind nickel Jay Ward. That is a natural career progression for many, but Ryan was a five-star recruit. The label creates higher expectations.

The ideal step for Ryan would be to turn into a regular starter here in his third season. He has the opportunity after Ward's departure for the NFL created one of three openings in the secondary. But LSU could play one of its cornerbacks at nickel. If Ryan doesn't start there, LSU still needs him as the top backup to safeties Greg Brooks and Major Burns. - Baton Rouge Advocate

  02/26/23 - Caden PrieskornrSr/2025, Mississippi, 6-6, 246 (DS#18 TE) + More +

Ole Miss seriously struggled at the tight end position last season. The addition of Michael Trigg was huge, but he was not physically ready to start in the SEC and suffered from injuries as a result. The position contributed under 175 receiving yards in 2022, and that number must rise in 2023 if the offense is going to take the next step. Prieskorn is going to be mammoth over the middle. At 6-foot-6, 255 pounds, he will be bigger than just about every SEC linebacker and even some defensive ends. This will give the Rebels a serious physical threat in the intermediate portion of the field that simply did not exist last season.

In 2022, it was impossible for players crossing the middle to go untouched, and it resulted in poorly timed throws, turnovers and a general lack of production. But given that LBs will struggle to redirect Prieskorn, expect to see the middle of the field targeted with much more efficiency. At Memphis, Prieskorn was used a fair amount as a jumbo slot receiver, as opposed to strictly being an in-line tight end. I suspect the Rebels will use Trigg outside of the formation more often, but having two tight ends with that versatility opens up intriguing motion options out of 12 personnel. As a run blocker, Prieskorn is about what you'd expect from someone of his size. He shows good power blocking downhill and was able to seal off defenders to open lanes. - Daily Mississippian

  02/03/23 - Jaxson DartSr/2025, Mississippi, 6-2, 223 (DS#3 QB) + More +

As he often does, Ole Miss football coach Lane Kiffin spoke in NFL terms when he broke down his two quarterback additions out of the transfer portal. Spencer Sanders, a four-year starter at Oklahoma State, is the veteran. Walker Howard, a top-five quarterback in last year's recruiting class from LSU, is the draft pick. "I'm very excited about the quarterback room," Kiffin said Wednesday. "I was very concerned about it from pure numbers, you guys can figure that out. My job is to put together the best roster every year. And you know, we had a chance to bring those two guys in."

Kiffin was asked if there would be a quarterback competition between Sanders, Walker and returning starter Jaxson Dart and did not provide a straight answer. He did, however, explain that he was pleased with Dart's progress as the season went on. Dart finished the season with a 62.4% completion rate, 2,974 passing yards, 20 touchdowns and 11 interceptions. "I think Jaxson did a lot of great things last year," Kiffin said. "I know Jaxson, when he initially played versus the middle and end, dramatically improved for a young quarterback. We're very excited about continuing that." - The Clarion Ledger

  02/01/23 - Otis ReeserSr/2023, Mississippi, 6-3, 214 (DS#12 SS) + More +

Fifth-year senior and safety Otis Reese transferred from the University of Georgia but came to Ole Miss his junior year and played three seasons with the Rebels. Reese was smooth with his hands and can get in contact with the ball without drawing flags. For the Rebels, he showed natural balance, quick feet, excellent awareness and was skilled at reading routes and quarterbacks. Reese showed great talent during his final year as an Ole Miss Rebel and is a promising prospect for the 2023 NFL Draft. - Daily Mississippian

  01/22/23 - Spencer SandersrSr/2024, Mississippi, 6-1, 209 (DS#32 QB) + More +

The self-described Portal King has struck again. On Thursday morning, Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss football landed Oklahoma State transfer quarterback Spencer Sanders, the second QB to join the Rebels' transfer class in as many days. Sanders was a four-year starter for the Cowboys, accumulating 9,553 passing yards, 67 touchdowns and 40 interceptions over the course of his career. Last season, he completed 57.6% of his passes for 2,642 yards, 17 touchdowns and nine interceptions.

Sanders, a product of Denton, Texas, listed at 6-foot-1, has rushed the ball at least 100 times in each of his four seasons behind center, amassing 1,956 yards on the ground and 18 touchdowns. This acquisition by Kiffin could indicate that Jaxson Dart has some competition for the starting quarterback job this offseason. Sanders has only one season of eligibility remaining and is choosing to spend it at Ole Miss. - The Clarion Ledger

  01/20/23 - Victor CurnerSr/2024, Mississippi, 6-3, 320 (DS#999 OG) + More +

Ole Miss football's offensive line received a noteworthy addition when Washington transfer Victor Curne announced his commitment Tuesday to play for the Rebels. The 6-foot-4, 320-pound Curne is a two-time All-Pac-12 honorable mention, and played primarily as a right tackle for the Huskies. "Committed to The Sip. Blessed," Curne wrote on Twitter. Curne played in just three games for the Huskies in 2022, though, having lost his starting job. He has one season of eligibility remaining. - The Clarion Ledger

In in 2019, DeShawn Gaddie came to North Texas as one of the Mean Green's top-rated recruits of the last few years. The former Arlington Lamar standout announced Monday that he is entering the transfer portal after capitalizing on his talent and developing into one of the Mean Green's top players. Gaddie finished with 61 tackles, broke up 13 passes and forced two fumbles last season when he helped anchor UNT's secondary at cornerback.

He has two years of eligibility remaining. Gaddie is expected to be a hot commodity on the transfer market after proving to be one of UNT's more versatile players. He played both cornerback and safety during his time with the Mean Green. Gaddie was an honorable mention All-Conference USA selection last season. He is the second key player UNT has lost to the transfer portal in the last few weeks. - Denton Record

"I thought me coming back for another year would give me a better shot to put another healthy year together and showcase my skills even more."   In the second full offseason of college football's transfer portal-induced mayhem, there have been a few small changes evident amid the chaos. Ole Miss coach Lane Kiffin, who grabbed seven standout transfers, warns that not all will make an immediate impact. Regardless, his key transfer acquisitions are, in probable order of importance: Wide receiver Tre Harris (LSU), first team All-USA (65 for 935, 10 TDs); TE Daden Prieskorn (Memphis), 48 fir 602, seven TDs.; linebacker Jeremiah Jean-Babtiste (UCF) one season of eligibility; wide receiver Chris Marshall (Texas A&M), oozes talent at 6-3, 205; cornerback John Saunders (Miami-Ohio) will battle two starters; DT Joshua Harris (NC State); K Caden David (Texas A&M) to replace steady, but departed, Jonathan Cruze. - The Clarion Ledger
