  09/20/25 - Mark Fletcher Jr.Jr/2027, Miami, 6-1, 225 (DS#2 RB) + More +

Mark Fletcher Jr. rushed for 116 yards and a touchdown, Marty Brown rushed for a pair of scores and No. 4 Miami struggled at times before beating Florida 26-7 on Saturday night. Brown had a 2-yard rush to cap the first drive of the game for Miami (4-0), then had a 1-yard plunge with 4:08 left to seal what became the Hurricanes' ninth win over the Gators in the teams' last 11 meetings. Fletcher scored from 1 yard out with 1:57 left. Jadan Baugh had a 7-yard touchdown run for Florida (1-3), off to its worst start since 1986. The loss sent embattled coach Billy Napier's record with the Gators to 20-22, and came on a night where Florida had its fewest total yards in a game in more than 25 years. The Gators were outgained 344-141 and quarterback D.J. Lagway completed 12 of 23 passes for only 61 yards. It was Florida's lowest yardage since managing only 119 against Alabama on Dec. 4, 1999. Miami quarterback Carson Beck completed 17 of 30 passes for 160 yards and an interception.

Beck improved to 3-0 all-time against Florida; in the last 25 years, only fellow former Georgia quarterbacks Jake Fromm and Aaron Murray also had three wins over the Gators as starters. The Hurricanes were fuming after a play early in the third quarter where it appeared Brown - on fourth-and-1 from the Florida 48 - bounced off a pile, kept his legs moving and broke free for what would have been a touchdown and a 19-0 Miami lead with an extra point pending. Southeastern Conference referee David Smith said Brown's forward progress was stopped, taking the score off the board, and Miami punted four plays later. The Gators scored on the ensuing drive, and a game where the Hurricanes thought they had gone up by three touchdowns was suddenly a 13-7 contest. Beck got picked off on the next Miami drive, but the Hurricanes snuffed out that Florida possession by getting a fourth-down stop on the first play of the fourth quarter and holding on to the six-point lead. Florida never got any closer. - Miami/AP College Football

Darian Mensah threw three touchdown passes and Duke snapped a two-game losing streak, overcoming a 13-point deficit to beat N.C. State 45-33 on Saturday. The Blue Devils (2-2, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference opener) scored 21 points in less than four minutes of game time spanning the two halves to surge into the lead. Anderson Castle added three rushing touchdowns, including a clinching 66-yard dash on third down with 2:19 remaining. CJ Bailey tossed two touchdowns passes to Terrell Anderson but was intercepted three times for N.C. State (3-1, 1-1). Hollywood Smothers rushed for 123 yards and one touchdown and Will Wilson had two 1-yard TD runs. Anderson picked up 166 yards on six catches.

Mensah was 19-for-28 for 269 yards. Castle gained 92 rushing yards on 12 attempts. NC State drove 99 yards to score on the second play of the second quarter on Bailey's 6-yard throw to Anderson and later extended the lead to 20-7. The big play came inside of two minutes in the first half when Duke linebacker Tre Freeman intercepted Bailey's fourth-down pass, returning it 67 yards to set up a go-ahead 1-yard touchdown run from Castle. - Duke/AP College Football

  09/13/25 - Carson BeckrSr/2026, Miami, 6-5, 233 (DS#4 QB) + More +

The last team that started a season with three consecutive wins over AP-ranked opponents was Miami in 1987. And the Hurricanes made sure that didn't change. Carson Beck threw three touchdown passes, Mark Fletcher Jr. rushed for 120 yards and two touchdowns, and No. 5 Miami remained unbeaten with a 49-12 win over No. 18 South Florida on Saturday. It was Miami's biggest victory margin over a ranked opponent since beating Washington 65-7 in 2001, the Hurricanes' most recent national championship season. And it denied USF (2-1) the chance at a third straight ranked win to start this season, following victories over Boise State and Florida. "There was a lot of motivation going into this thing, besides the fact that they were a ranked football team because I have a lot of respect for their coaches and their players,” Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. "This was an in-state game. And those games, you have to play your very best.”

The Hurricanes are 6-0 since the start of last season against in-state opponents, winning those games by an average of 34.5 points. Beck completed 23 of 28 passes for 340 yards and ran for a touchdown for Miami (3-0). Fletcher had a two-TD game for the second consecutive week and Joshua Moore had two first-quarter scoring catches. "The young man's lost three games in his college career,” USF coach Alex Golesh said of Beck, a Georgia transfer. "He's tough. He's gritty. I thought he was super accurate tonight..I think that young man's really, really good.” Byrum Brown completed 20 of 36 passes for 274 yards and a touchdown for USF. Brown threw an interception late in the first half, ending his school-record streak of 252 passes without being picked off. Christian Neptune had a 12-yard touchdown catch for the Bulls, who got 128 yards on four catches from Chas Nimrod. USF had four passes go for more than 25 yards, including 53- and 43-yarders to Nimrod. - Miami/AP College Football

  09/06/25 - Carson BeckrSr/2026, Miami, 6-5, 233 (DS#4 QB) + More +

Carson Beck already has found his way into the Miami record book. Beck completed his first 15 passes to break a Miami record, finishing 22 of 24 for 264 yards with two touchdowns as the fifth-ranked Hurricanes eased past Bethune-Cookman 45-3 on Saturday night. Beck's 15 consecutive completions broke a Miami single-game mark that stood for nearly four decades; Vinny Testaverde completed 14 in a row against Oklahoma in 1986. "It's super cool, obviously, to perform at a high level and do things like that," Beck said. CJ Daniels caught both of Beck's touchdown passes, from 40 and 5 yards out.

Beck has gone 185 consecutive passes without an interception, dating to last season when he was with Georgia. "He keeps getting better and better," Miami coach Mario Cristobal said. "I mean, every practice, every week, there's this continued growth and development, and really you see an appetite for more. He just wants to get better. He wants Miami to get to better. He wants to Miami to win. And he's all about team." Mark Fletcher Jr. had two touchdown runs for the Hurricanes (2-0), who reached the end zone on their first five drives and began substituting liberally in the third quarter. Marty Brown and Girard Pringle also had scoring runs for Miami. Timmy McClain completed 13 of 15 passes for 86 yards for Bethune-Cookman (0-2). Juan Dominguez had a 32-yard field goal for the Wildcats. - Miami/AP College Football

Carter Davis made a 47-yard field goal with 1:04 left for the go-ahead score, Carson Beck threw for 205 yards and two touchdowns in his Miami debut, and the 10th-ranked Hurricanes beat No. 6 Notre Dame 27-24 in the opener for both teams on Sunday night. CJ Daniels made a spectacular one-handed touchdown grab and Rueben Bain had an interception on a thrice-deflected pass in the fourth quarter for the Hurricanes, who outgained Notre Dame 324 yards to 314. Malachi Toney had a touchdown catch and Marty Brown added a TD run for Miami. CJ Carr, in his first start for Notre Dame, finished 19 of 30 for 221 yards with two touchdown passes and an interception - plus a rushing score with 3:21 left that tied the game, capping a rally from 14 points down. Micah Gilbert and Jordan Faison had the scoring grabs for the Irish. Miami went 46 yards on 10 plays on the ensuing drive, with Davis - a transfer from FAU - delivering for the lead. Notre Dame got the ball at its own 25, out of timeouts, and went nowhere before time expired.

Miami won the coin toss and deferred, which proved relevant - since the Hurricanes essentially ran out the clock on the first half with a 75-yard TD drive, then started the second half with another 75-yard TD march. Carr's first collegiate touchdown pass came on a play where he dropped back, zigging and zagging to avoid pressure, then ran back toward the line before finding Gilbert for what became a rather easy score that tied the game at 7-7. Nearly an hour passed in real time before Carr threw another ball, as Miami essentially had back-to-back possessions separated only by an Irish kneel-down to end the half. Daniels' 20-yard grab came with 12 seconds left before halftime to give Miami a 14-7 lead, and the Hurricanes chewed up half of the third-quarter clock on another 75-yard drive capped by Brown's 5-yard run. - Miami/AP College Football

Darian Mensah threw three second-half touchdown passes in his Duke debut and the Blue Devils broke free from a halftime tie to defeat Elon 45-17 in Thursday night's season opener. Mensah, a transfer from Tulane, finished 27-for-34 for 389 yards, including 11-for-11 in the second half. The Blue Devils posted the final 21 points after Elon closed within 24-17 in the opening minute of the fourth quarter. Elon's Landen Clark, a redshirt freshman in his first collegiate start, gained 61 yards on the ground with a touchdown. He also threw for 101 yards.

Mensah connected on three passes to Cooper Barkate covering 73 yards on the first possession of the second half before hitting Sahmir Hagans for a 15-yard touchdown play. Barkate, a transfer from Harvard, picked up 117 yards on five receptions. Hagans also caught a fourth-quarter touchdown pass. The Blue Devils broke it open on Que'Sean Brown's 78-yard punt return for a 38-17 edge. - Duke/AP College Football
