  2019 ALL-COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION FIRST TEAM (COACHES): Taji Lowe, Maine, LB, Sr., Stewartsville, N.J.,...Lowe, who ends his career with 249 total tackles, earned his first-ever All-CAA selection with a spot on the first team. Lowe led the Black Bears with a career-high 98 total tackles to go along with 9.5 tackles for loss and a half sack. Lowe ranked fourth among CAA leaders at 8.9 tackles per game and wrapped up his senior season with a total of four, double-digit tackling performances including a career-best 15 stops in a win over Rhode Island. - Maine Football

Mitchell, who started all 12 games, finished his 2019 campaign with 47 tackles, including 6.0 for loss, and a sack to go along with one forced fumble.   2019 ALL-COLONIAL ATHLETIC ASSOCIATION THIRD TEAM (COACHES): Jaquan Blair, Maine, WR, Sr., Harrisburg, Pa.,...Blair received his first-ever selection to the all-conference ranks, being named to the All-CAA third team after leading the Black Bears with 65 total receptions and ranking second on the team in both receiving yardage (839) and receiving touchdowns (8). Blair, who ranked fourth in the CAA with 5.9 receptions per game, checked in eight best among CAA leaders at 76.3 yards per game while his 839 total yards placed him tenth best on the conference leaderboard. Blair completed his career at Maine ranked 13th on both Maine's all-time receiving yards list (1,692) and all-time receptions list (134). - Maine Football

  2019 ALL-BIG SKY CONFERENCE THIRD TEAM (COACHES): Kicker Cody Williams, Sophomore, Portland State,...Williams, a native of Murrieta, CA, made 15-22 field goals and all 45 extra points he attempted. The sophomore set two new school records and tied a third this season. Williams' 56-yard field goal at Northern Colorado broke the PSU record of 55 yards set in 1975 by Pat Moore. His five field goals at Northern Arizona tied for the most made in a game. And, with 82 consecutive extra points made in his career, he has established a new record (previous, 77 in a row). - Portland State Football

  2019 CAA SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): Earnest Edwards, Maine,...Edwards led the nation by averaging 28.5 yards on kick returns (20 ret., 570 yds). He tied his own CAA record by returning two kickoffs for touchdowns against Colgate on Sept. 21 and his six career TD's on kick returns are a school record. Edwards, who also received first-team All-CAA accolades at wide receiver, ranked third in FCS in all-purpose yardage (169.4 ypg) and scored a touchdown in 18 of his final 19 games.   NOV 18 CAA FOOTBALL SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Earnest Edwards, Sr., WR/RET, Maine (Rochester, N.Y./Aquinas Institute),...Edwards tallied 128 return yards in Maine's 34-30 win over Rhode Island. The senior averaged 25.0 yards on four kick returns and had a 28-yard punt return that set up a Black Bears' TD in the third quarter. It was part of a tremendous all-around effort for Edwards, who finished with 259 all-purpose yards, caught a game-winning TD pass with 34 seconds left and recorded a tackle on a Hail Mary pass to end the game. - Colonial Athletic Association Football

  Joe Fagnano's 11-yard touchdown pass to Earnest Edward's with 34 seconds left capped Maine's fourth-quarter comeback and the Black Bears beat Rhode Island 34-30 on Saturday. Fagnano led Maine (6-5, 4-3 Colonial Athletic Association) on a five-play, 81-yard drive in 73 seconds with a 44-yard completion to Devin Young on the initial play of the drive. Rhode Island (2-9, 0-7) ended the game when Vito Priore completed a 32-yard pass to Ahmere Dorsey at Maine's 18-yard line.

Rhode Island started the fourth with a 24-13 lead and extended it a to a two-score margin with C.J. Carrick's 38-yard field goal with 9:52 left. Emmanuel Reed's 12-yard TD run reduced the margin on Maine's ensuing drive. Carrick missed a 44-yard attempt on the Rams' next drive, which Maine took advantage of when Joe Fitzaptrick knotted the score with a 3-yard TD run. Carrick made a 29-yarder for the Rams last lead of the game. Fagnano was 20-of-29 passing for 216 yards and two scores. Naim Jones led Rhode Island with 167 yards rushing on 31 carries and two TDs. - AP College Football

The freshman connected on TD throws of 60 and 88 yards in the first quarter as the Black Bears sprinted out to a commanding 28-0 advantage.   Joe Fagnano passed for 320 yards and two touchdowns, Earnest Edwards caught five passes for 153 yards and a score, and Maine beat Elon 31-17 on Saturday for its third straight victory. Maine scored a touchdown on its first four possessions of the game, including Devin Young's 60-yarder on the fourth offensive play. Edwards had an 88-yard catch-and-run for the third score and he completed a 2-yard pass to Jaquan Blair to cap the scoring run with 4:42 left in the first quarter. Emmanuel Reed had a game-high 55 yards rushing and Joe Fitzpatrick ran for a score for Maine (5-5, 3-3 Colonia Athletic Association). The Black Bears' defense registered six sacks, recovered two fumbles and held Elon to 276 total yards. Edwards went over 100 receiving yards for the fifth time this season and passed for his fifth career touchdown.   Joe Fagnano threw four touchdown passes and Maine rode a 23-point fourth quarter to a 47-31 victory over Albany on Saturday. Leading 24-21 at halftime, Maine (4-5, 2/3 Colonial Athletic Association) poured it on in the third quarter. The Black Bears scored on a field goal, a pick-6 by Ori Jean-Charles and two of Fagnano's touchdown passes to take a 47-24 lead heading to the fourth quarter. In the fourth, Jeff Undercuffler threw his fourth touchdown pass of the game for the Great Danes (5-4, 3-2), a 5-yard connection with Thomas Greaney.

Undercuffler, a redshirt freshman, completed 25 of 49 passes for 387 yards but was sacked five times. He had two 100-yard receivers -- Juwan Green with four catches for 111 yards and Jerah Reeves with seven for 109. The Great Danes were held to 67 yards rushing. Fagnano completed 12 of 18 passes for 257 yards. The biggest strike of his four TDs was a 90-yard hookup with Andre Miller for the Black Bears' first touchdown. Earnest Edwards caught six passes for 134 yards and a touchdown and Joe Fitzpatrick was Maine's leading rusher with 77 yards. - AP College Football

  Joe Fagnano ran threw for 249 yards and two touchdowns and Maine beat William & Mary 34-25 on Saturday. The Tribe built leads of 6-0 and 12-7 but couldn't make them hold up. Receiver Earnest Edwards threw a 19-yard scoring pass to Jaquan Blair to give Maine (3-5, 1/3 Colonial Athletic Association) a 7-6 lead. Later, Fagnano threw a 67-yard score to Edwards for a 14-12 lead Maine would never surrender. Joe Fitzpatrick's 1-yard run with 6:12 remaining before halftime made it 21-12. Then, on the second play of the second half, Fagnano threw a 64-yard TD pass to Blair for a 16-point lead. Blair caught four passes for 115 yards. Hollis Mathis rushed 52 yards and scored three times for the Tribe (2-6, 0-4), but he struggled throwing the ball and completed just 4 of 22 pass attempts for 68 yards.   OCT 21 CAA FOOTBALL ROOKIE OF THE WEEK: Joe Fagnano, Fr., QB, Maine (Williamsport, Pa./Williamsport),...In his first collegiate start, Fagnano completed 25-of-37 passes for 445 yards and five touchdowns in Maine's 59-44 setback at FBS foe Liberty. The 445 passing yards were the most by a Maine quarterback since 2009 and he was just the third Black Bear QB to throw for 5 TD's since 2009.
