Clayton Tune completed 32 of 44 passes for 435 yards and four touchdowns - two to Matthew Golden - and Houston scored the first 28 points as the Cougars beat East Carolina 42-3 on Saturday. Nathaniel Dell caught nine passes for 176 yards and his 12-yard touchdown reception opened the scoring less than 5 minutes into the game. Tune hit Christian Trahan for a 9-yard TD in the second quarter and Brandon Campbell's 5-yard touchdown run - which capped a nine-play, 92-yard drive - gave Houston (6-4, 4-2 American Athletic Conference) a 21-0 halftime lead. Golden, who finished with eight receptions for 127 yards, caught two 26-yard touchdown throws from Tune in the third quarter. Later, a 14-play, 73-yard drive that took nearly 8 minutes off the clock culminated when Ta'Zhawn Henry scored on a 3-yard run that made it 42-3 with 6:11 to play.   11/19/22 - Conner WeigmanrJr/2027, Houston, 6-3, 220 (DS#8 QB) + More +

Conner Weigman threw for 191 yards and a touchdown and Texas A&M overcame a sloppy and mistake-filled performance to snap a six-game skid with a 20-3 win over UMass Saturday. Texas A&M (4-7) entered the game as 33 1/2 point favorites against the Minutemen, who have won just one game this season. But the Aggies lost four fumbles and struggled to move the ball while playing without top running back Devon Achane and leading receiver Evan Stewart on a soggy and cold day. Weigman threw a touchdown pass in the second quarter to put A&M on top. The Aggies didn't get in the end zone again until Le'Veon Moss scampered 12 yards for a touchdown with about five minutes remaining to stretch the lead to 20-3.

The school announced a paid attendance of more than 90,000, but the crowd in the cavernous stadium looked sparse from the start and morphed into a ghost town by the third quarter as light rain steadily fell. It was a far cry from the atmosphere when the Aggies opened the season ranked No. 6 in the country with designs on competing for a national title. They've not only tumbled out of the poll since then but won't even make a bowl game this season, raising questions about the $75 million contract of coach Jimbo Fisher. Saturday's win is A&M's first since Sept. 24 to end the school's longest losing streak since 1972. It came as the Aggies took a break from the rigors of SEC play for a matchup with UMass (1-10), which is an independent team. Texas A&M will end this dreadful season next weekend with a visit from sixth-ranked LSU. - Texas A&M/AP College Football

Clayton Tune threw three touchdowns and his last one of the day with 40 seconds left was the game winner when he found Matthew Golden as Houston beat Temple 43-36 on Saturday. Temple managed to reach the Houston (6-4, 4-2 American Athletic Conference) 25-yard line but time expired. Temple (3-7, 1-5) used a 12-play, 73-yard drive that lasted five minutes that ended when E.J. Warner threw a 6-yard scoring pass to Zae Baines with 1:22 remaining to put the Owls up 36-35.

Houston then used a mere 42 seconds to go 71 yards when Tune found found a wide-open Golden who he nearly overthrew. With the win, Houston moved to 12-2 in its last 14 American Athletic Conference matchups dating to the start of the 2021 season, marking the Cougars' best 14-game stretch in league play since replicating the feat from Sept. 2, 2006 - Nov. 4, 2007. Stacy Sneed scored two rushing touchdowns and set a career high with 143 yards on the ground. It was most for a Cougar since Duke Catalon ran for 177 yards at SMU on Oct. 7, 2017. Warner threw for a single-game program-record 486 yards on 42-for-59 passing and had three touchdowns. - Houston/AP College Football
