In the biggest personnel development for Hampton University football in years, if not ever, former Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois has enrolled as a graduate transfer and will play this season for the Pirates. Francois, a two-year starter at FSU, has two seasons of eligibility remaining. His five-year clock began in 2015, but he redshirted that season and missed all but one game in '17 with a knee injury.

"It’s a blessing to be here," Francois said after Friday morning’s practice. "Coming to a smaller school like this, it gives me a chance to focus. "I was in the spotlight at Florida State, but coming to Hampton, it gives me the opportunity to be in a more family-oriented program. In a smaller atmosphere, I can focus on my schoolwork and stay out of trouble." In 25 games with the Seminoles, Francois passed for 6,291 yards with 36 touchdowns. He was named the ACC Rookie of the year in 2016. - Daily Press

Two summers ago, Lane Kiffin made his first appearance at Conference USA Football Media Kickoff as Florida Atlantic’s head coach and his scrum with the media was the most well-attended of the two-day event. On Thursday, Kiffin was again front and center for FAU, coming off a 5-7 record. Earlier this week, league media picked the Owls to finish third in C-USA’s East Division behind Marshall and crosstown rival FIU.

Kiffin said Thursday that former Florida State quarterback Deondre Francois will not be transferring to FAU. Francois, who was dismissed from the Seminoles in February after video of an alleged domestic incident was posted on Instagram, reportedly is headed for Alabama State. - Palm Beach Post
