Making his first career start, all three receptions of his went for first downs, and included a 30-yard touchdown in the second quarter that put the Runnin' Bulldogs ahead, 28-14.   Bailey Fisher threw three touchdown passes and ran for a fourth score, all in the first half, to lead Gardner-Webb to a 42-35 win over Campbell Saturday. The win sets up a showdown for the Big South Conference championship November 19 when the 4-0 Bulldogs host North Carolina A&T, which is 4-0 in conference after a 20-10 win over Charleston Southern Saturday. Fisher hit T.J. Luther with a short touchdown pass to open the scoring, then dashed 10 yards for a score to make it 14-0 after one quarter. He added a 6-yard touchdown pass to Cutrell Haywood and a 30-yard scoring pass to Caleb Borders to build a 35-14 lead at intermission.

Fisher completed 30 of 38 passes for 361 yards, three touchdowns and an interception to lead Gardner-Webb (5-5, 4-0). Narii Gaither carried 19 times for 100 yards. Campbell came into the game with the leading offense in the Big South, averaging 435.2 yards per game, but the Camels managed just 383 yards of offense against Gardner-Webb.   OCT 31 BIG SOUTH FOOTBALL DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb linebacker William McRainey (Shallotte, N.C.) tallied 11 tackles (eight solo), one sack for minus-10 yards and two pass break-ups in Gardner-Webb's 48-40 Big South win over Bryant. He had five tackles in the fourth quarter, and his PBU with 19.3 seconds left in the game on fourth down at the GWU 32-yard line ended Bryant's comeback attempt. McRainey's sack came on a second down play with just under four minutes remaining that limited the Bulldogs to a field goal four plays later.   OCT 31 BIG SOUTH FOOTBALL FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb linebacker William McRainey (Shallotte, N.C.) made the most of his first career start with three catches for 78 yards and two touchdowns in Gardner-Webb's victory over Bryant. Entering the contest with just four receptions for 40 yards and no scores, Burns first tied the game at 14-14 with a 71-yard catch-and-run to end the first quarter. His second catch of the day was a 4-yard touchdown to put GWU ahead, 48-29, while his final reception resulted in a first down later in the fourth quarter.   Bailey Fisher threw for a season-high five touchdowns and ran for a sixth and Gardner-Webb held off Bryant 48-40 in a Big South thriller on Saturday. The Runnin' Bulldogs are 3-0 in the Big South for the first time since 2003. Gardner-Webb is tied with North Carolina A&T atop the conference with Campbell one game back. The Bulldogs face the Camels next week and play the Aggies in the regular season finale. Bryant took a 14-7 lead with 11 seconds left in the first quarter, but Bailey answered with his second touchdown pass of the game as time expired in the quarter, connecting with Jonathan Burns on a 71-yard bomb. Bailey's second touchdown to Burns staked Gardner-Webb to a 48-29 lead with 11:00 left in the game. T.J. Luther caught eight passes for 124 yards and a touchdown for Gardner-Webb (4-5, 3-0). Burns and Cutrell Haywood combined for 150 receiving yards and two touchdowns apiece. Fisher was 23 of 28 passing for 356 yards.   Bailey Fisher passed for a career-high 408 yards with a go-ahead touchdown to guide Gardner-Webb to a 28-14 victory over Charleston Southern on Saturday night. Fisher, who completed 26 of 41 passes for Gardner-Webb (3-5, 2-0 Big South Conference), connected with Cutrell Haywood for a 29-yard score to give the Bulldogs a 10-7 lead. They never trailed again. Freshman Jay Billingsley kicked two field goals, Jayden Brown ran 44 yards for a touchdown and Fisher scored on a 5-yard run as the Bulldogs scored 28 straight points to lead by 21.

JD Moore's 83-yard touchdown run staked Charleston Southern (1-6, 1-2) to a 7-0 first-quarter lead. Tony Bartalo's 8-yard scoring toss to freshman Seth Anderson late in the final quarter ended the scoring. T.J. Luther caught six passes for 159 yards, while Haywood had 10 receptions for a career-high 145 yards for Gardner-Webb.   Bailey Fisher threw three touchdown passes, the Gardner-Webb defense allowed just 19 yards in the second half and the Runnin' Bulldogs rolled past Robert Morris 48-0 on Saturday in the Big South Conference opener for both teams. Gardner-Webb led 20-0 at halftime after Fisher ran for a touchdown and completed 13 of 15 passes for 176 yards with two touchdowns. Tray Luther caught six passes for 124 yards including a 69-yard touchdown and Narii Gaither had 96 rushing yards on eight carries, all before halftime.

Jayden Brown scored on runs of 7 yards in the third quarter and 41 yards in the fourth. Matthew Caldwell's 2-yard run for the Runnin' Bulldogs' fourth touchdown run of the game capped the scoring. Gardner-Webb finished with 306 yards rushing. Gaither led with 106 yards that included a 66-yard non-scoring run. Fisher completed 20 of 24 passes for 243 yards for the Runnin' Bulldogs (2-4). Robert Morris quarterbacks Zach Tanner and Corbin LaFrance combined to go 0-for-7 with an interception in the second half. The Colonials (0-5) had eight yards rushing in the third quarter and 11 yards on the ground in the fourth. For the game, Tanner completed 12 of 26 passes for 101 yards and was intercepted twice.   SEPT 5 BIG SOUTH FRESHMAN OF THE WEEK: Gardner-Webb running back Janiero Crankfield ran for a career-high 89 yards and three touchdowns on just nine carries to help GWU tie a school-record with eight rushing touchdowns in a 56-21 season-opening win over Limestone.
