Jah'Marae Sheread scored on a 34-yard catch-and-run from backup quarterback Rasean McKay on fourth down - breaking five tackles on the way - to spark Florida A&M to a 34-7 victory over Division II-member Fort Valley State on Saturday. McKay's effort on a fourth-and-4 play - in a game that saw a 30-minute lightning delay in the first half - helped the Rattlers (1-1) pull away from a 7-7 halftime tie. McKay took over in the second half for freshman QB Junior Muratovic. A&M's defense got in on the scoring when Isaiah Land forced a fumble on a sack that was scooped up and returned 45 yards for a score by Lerodrick James for a 21-7 lead. Bishop Bonnett added a 12-yard TD run in the fourth quarter. Muratovic connected with tight end Kamari Young for A&M's first TD of the season in the first quarter. The Rattlers were held to two field goals in a 7-6 season-opening loss to Jackson State. Jose Romo-Martinez added two fourth-quarter field goals, including a 49-yarder. - AP College Football

Louisville lost a player to the transfer portal Friday. Freshman safety Bralyn Oliver announced Friday he has entered the transfer portal after arriving at Louisville in January. Oliver, a 6-foot-2 South Carolina native, was a three-star recruit in the 2021 recruiting class. He was expected to be paired with four-star Ben Perry at safety. Perry is still with the team, likely the backup strong safety this season, but Oliver's departure now leaves a whole in the depth chart. The Cardinals don't have a lot of depth at safety and with Oliver gone, it's likely Louisville will utilize corner Chandler Jones at safety this season. Josh Minkins is also still on the roster, but is battling back from a winter injury. - Courier Journal

Former Auburn and Florida A&M offensive lineman Calvin Ashley is joining the Super Bowl champions. Ashley went undrafted in this weekend's NFL Draft but latched on as a priority free agent signing with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, he announced on Twitter on Saturday evening. Ashley is the second player with Auburn ties to join Tampa Bay on Saturday, as the franchise selected linebacker K.J. Britt in the fifth round earlier in the day.

The former five-star offensive tackle who originally signed with Auburn in 2017, Ashley was the highest-rated player in the Tigers' ninth-ranked recruiting class that year. He is one of the 10 highest-rated high school signees in program history, but he never panned out after arriving on the Plains. He redshirted as a freshman in 2017 and then appeared in eight games during the 2018 campaign, including his first career start at right tackle against Mississippi State that year. - Birmingham News

UCF coach Josh Heupel apologized for the behavior of several Knights football players involved in a traffic stop that led to the arrest of defensive back Antwan Collier. UCF police officers noticed two cars that appeared to be racing near campus early Thursday morning. One of the cars was pulled over by police on Gemini Boulevard near Libra Drive. Police identified Antwan Collier as the driver and linebacker Eric Mitchell and defensive backs Aaron Robinson and Brandon Moore as passengers.

Officers reported they smelled cannabis inside the car. While searching the car, they found a backpack on a passenger-side floorboard with a "loaded AR 15 semi-automatic rifle with a magazine inserted" and a "Glock pistol with an extended magazine." Mitchell had a valid concealed carry license and the firearms were placed in the trunk of the car but Collier said he had a third gun under the driver's seat. He told the police he also had a concealed carry license, but officers could not confirm it existed. Collier also told police he had an identification card and intended to get his license, but he did not have one with him. Officers arrested Collier and charged him with driving without a license and carrying a firearm without a license. - Orlando Sentinel
