Parker McKinney threw two touchdown passes and ran for another and Matthew Jackson's late interception helped Eastern Kentucky beat back Austin Peay 35-27 on Saturday. Jackson picked off Draylen Ellis at midfield with 57 seconds left and returned the ball to EKU's 9-yard line and the Colonels (2-2) killed the clock. Da'Joun Hewitt's 8-yard run marked the third touchdown in a four-drive span in which EKU turned a 20-14 deficit into a 35-20 lead with 12:34 remaining.

Austin Peay reduced the deficit to 35-27 when Ahmaad Tanner ran it in from 1 yard to end an eight-play, 79-yard drive with 4:12 left. The Governors' defense held and forced a three-and-out before Jackson's game-saving pick. Hewitt finished with 103 yards rushing on 22 carries for EKU. Ellis threw for 298 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted three times, Tanner ran for 99 yards on 20 carries with two scores and Baniko Harley had nine receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown for Austin Peay. - AP College Football

Da'Joun Hewitt scored three rushing touchdowns, Patrick Nations kicked a fourth-quarter field goal, and Eastern Kentucky edged Western Carolina 31-28 on Saturday night, spoiling the debut of Catamounts coach Kerwin Bell. Bell's Catamounts pulled to within three points on a Rogan Wells keeper from the 1 plus a two-point conversion pass with just over three minutes left. WCU missed a 46-yard field goal attempt to force overtime on its final possession.

Parker McKinney was 20-for-28 passing for 238 yards and a touchdown for the Colonels, who won their first game as members of the newly reconfigured Atlantic Sun Conference. Mo Edwards had six receptions for 103 yards and a 9-yard touchdown catch. The Colonels grabbed a 14-13 halftime lead when Hewitt scored with 20 seconds left before the break. The last-minute score negated Western Carolina's 18-yard touchdown pass from Wells to T.J. Jones. Wells finished 24 of 44 passing for 275 yards. He threw two interceptions. Raphael Williams made eight catches for 122 yards. - AP College Football

University of Kentucky football player Vito Tisdale, one of six players on the team charged in Fayette County, is currently on probation for an unrelated charge in his hometown. Tisdale on July 28 pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in Warren County District Court. Marijuana possession in Kentucky is a Class B misdemeanor subject to jail time of up to 45 days, to which Tisdale was sentenced. That sentencing was probated for 24 months.

The guilty plea was in response to a July 2 citation. According to the citation, Tisdale "disregarded the stop sign at the intersection" of two streets in Bowling Green. "Upon making contact with Tisdale" an officer wrote, "I detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. I also observed marijuana shake in his lap." A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the discovery of a "bud of marijuana" in the cup holder of Tisdale's vehicle. He was cited and released. On Thursday, Tisdale was one of six UK players charged in Fayette County with burglary stemming from a March 6 incident at a private residence. Additionally, Tisdale was charged with wanton endangerment. - Herald Leader

Calbert has played in 32 games with five starts at right tackle. He made all of his starts in 2019, including starting two of the final three games. The 6-foot-5, 325-pound Calbert worked as the second-string right tackle during the first week of preseason practice. - Knoxville News Sentinel

Six University of Kentucky football players have been charged with first-degree burglary, with one also accused of first degree wanton endangerment, following the investigation of an incident last March at a private party. The Lexington Police Department said in a release Thursday that offensive lineman Reuben Adams, running back Robert McClain, defensive back Andru Phillips, receiver Earnest Sanders IV, safety Devito Tisdale and defensive back Joel Williams were charged with first-degree burglary. Tisdale also was charged with wanton endangerment for allegedly pointing a gun at one of the victims. The players face arraignment Friday in Fayette County District Court. Wildcats coach Mark Stoops said in a statement that he was aware of the current situation and that the program had been aware of the matter since March. The program withheld players from team activities while a student conduct review was held and returned to activity in June based on the outcome. - AP College Football
