Parker McKinney scored on a 40-yard run midway through the fourth quarter, Joseph Sayles blocked Hayden Ray's attempt at a game-tying field goal and Eastern Kentucky scored 25 unanswered points to stun Central Arkansas 38-35 in the ASUN-WAC Challenge on Saturday. The Colonels (5-1, 2-0) trailed 35-13 after Central Arkansas (2-4, 1-2) used Darius Hale's 6-yard TD run to cap a five-play, 75-yard drive with 8:13 left in the third quarter. Patrick Nations started the EKU run at the 3:11 mark with his third field goal of the game. Kmare Carey set up the next score when he forced and recovered a fumble by Christian Richmond on the ensuing kickoff at the Bears' 15-yard line. Four plays later, McKinney connected with Jayden Higgins for a 5-yard TD and hit Jaden Smith for the 2-point conversion to pull the Colonels within 35-24 heading to the final quarter.

After a three-and-out by Central Arkansas, McKinney directed a seven-play, 62-yard drive - ending with Kyeandre Magloire's 4-yard TD run - in 100 seconds. The 2-point try failed and left EKU trailing 35-30 with 13:08 remaining in the game. McKinney came up with his go-ahead TD run on the Colonels' next possession and then connected with Smith for the 2-point conversion and a 38-35 lead. The Bears drove down to the EKU 28-yard line before the drive stalled with 2:14 left to play, setting up Sayles' block. McKinney completed 24 of 40 passes for 224 yards with two TDs and one interception. He also ran for 65 yards on six carries. - Eastern Kentucky/AP College Football

Eli Hairston returned an interception 39 yards for a touchdown late in the game and Eastern Kentucky stymied Tarleton 20-3 on Saturday. The Colonels (3-2) had been nursing a 13-3 lead until the pick-6 iced the win. Tarleton's Steven Duncan had ducked away from a blitzing Ubong Udom coming off the edge, but his sidearm pass to the right flat was picked off by Hairston, who ran untouched to the end zone.

Tarleton, of the Western Athletic Conference, and Eastern Kentucky, of the Atlantic Sun, are members of the ASUN-WAC Challenge, a one-season alliance between the two conferences to share an automatic qualifying bid to the FCS post-season playoffs. EKU's Parker McKinney gave the Colonels a 7-3 lead with his 30-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter, and Patrick Nations had added field goals of 22 and 48 yards by late in the third quarter.   A grand jury in Fayette County, Kentucky, has declined to indict six University of Kentucky football players on first-degree burglary charges. The charges were brought last month following a police investigation of an incident last March at a private party. Lexington police arrested Reuben Adams, Robert McClain, Devito Tisdale, Joel Williams, Earnest Sanders IV and Andru Phillips on Aug. 19. Tisdale was also charged with first-degree wanton endangerment for allegedly pointing a gun at one of the victims. All six second-year players pleaded not guilty on Aug. 20 and later waived their cases to a state grand jury, which dismissed the charges on Tuesday. The wanton endangerment charge against Tisdale was also dismissed. The Lexington Herald-Leader first reported the grand jury's decision. - AP College Football

Parker McKinney threw two touchdown passes and ran for another and Matthew Jackson's late interception helped Eastern Kentucky beat back Austin Peay 35-27 on Saturday. Jackson picked off Draylen Ellis at midfield with 57 seconds left and returned the ball to EKU's 9-yard line and the Colonels (2-2) killed the clock. Da'Joun Hewitt's 8-yard run marked the third touchdown in a four-drive span in which EKU turned a 20-14 deficit into a 35-20 lead with 12:34 remaining.

Austin Peay reduced the deficit to 35-27 when Ahmaad Tanner ran it in from 1 yard to end an eight-play, 79-yard drive with 4:12 left. The Governors' defense held and forced a three-and-out before Jackson's game-saving pick. Hewitt finished with 103 yards rushing on 22 carries for EKU. Ellis threw for 298 yards and a touchdown but was intercepted three times, Tanner ran for 99 yards on 20 carries with two scores and Baniko Harley had nine receptions for 136 yards and a touchdown for Austin Peay. - AP College Football

Da'Joun Hewitt scored three rushing touchdowns, Patrick Nations kicked a fourth-quarter field goal, and Eastern Kentucky edged Western Carolina 31-28 on Saturday night, spoiling the debut of Catamounts coach Kerwin Bell. Bell's Catamounts pulled to within three points on a Rogan Wells keeper from the 1 plus a two-point conversion pass with just over three minutes left. WCU missed a 46-yard field goal attempt to force overtime on its final possession.

Parker McKinney was 20-for-28 passing for 238 yards and a touchdown for the Colonels, who won their first game as members of the newly reconfigured Atlantic Sun Conference. Mo Edwards had six receptions for 103 yards and a 9-yard touchdown catch. The Colonels grabbed a 14-13 halftime lead when Hewitt scored with 20 seconds left before the break. The last-minute score negated Western Carolina's 18-yard touchdown pass from Wells to T.J. Jones. Wells finished 24 of 44 passing for 275 yards. He threw two interceptions. Raphael Williams made eight catches for 122 yards. - AP College Football

University of Kentucky football player Vito Tisdale, one of six players on the team charged in Fayette County, is currently on probation for an unrelated charge in his hometown. Tisdale on July 28 pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana in Warren County District Court. Marijuana possession in Kentucky is a Class B misdemeanor subject to jail time of up to 45 days, to which Tisdale was sentenced. That sentencing was probated for 24 months.

The guilty plea was in response to a July 2 citation. According to the citation, Tisdale "disregarded the stop sign at the intersection" of two streets in Bowling Green. "Upon making contact with Tisdale" an officer wrote, "I detected the strong odor of marijuana coming from his vehicle. I also observed marijuana shake in his lap." A probable cause search was conducted, resulting in the discovery of a "bud of marijuana" in the cup holder of Tisdale's vehicle. He was cited and released. On Thursday, Tisdale was one of six UK players charged in Fayette County with burglary stemming from a March 6 incident at a private residence. Additionally, Tisdale was charged with wanton endangerment. - Herald Leader
