  Gabe Passini threw for one touchdown and ran for another to lift Butler to a 27-20 win over Valparaiso in the Hoosier Helmet game on Saturday, the season finale for both teams. Passini, who had 106 yards on 19 carries, scored on a 4-yard run to put the Bulldogs ahead 14-7 early in the second quarter. Passini, who was 10-of-17 for 140 yards, connected with Ershod Jasey II for a 49-yard score late in the period. Ryan Short had a pair of field goals and the Bulldogs (6-6, 4-4 Pioneer Football League), led 27-7 at halftime. Rowan Keefe was 18 of 28 for 184 yards and three touchdowns for the Beacons (2-10, 1-6). He tied the game at 7 midway through the first quarter with a 4-yard pass to Ryan Ricketti, which capped a 97-yard drive. In the fourth quarter, Keefe found Devin Yates for 13 yards, ending a 99-yard drive. Colin Hayes had a 7-yard scoring reception with 3:07 to play but Valpo never got the ball back. - AP College Football

  Reagan Andrew threw two touchdown passes and Butler snapped Dayton's five-game winning streak, defeating the Flyers 23-17 on Saturday. Andrew's 67-yard touchdown pass to Ethan Loss got the Bulldogs (5-3, 3-1 Pioneer Football League) on the board in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Andrew threw to Archie Cox for a 16-yard score and Ryan Short kicked the first of his three field goals for a 17-7 halftime lead.

Donovan Weatherly caught a 4-yard touchdown pass from Drew VanVleet to get the Flyers within 17-14 in the third quarter, but Dayton didn't cross midfield again until late in the fourth. Trevor Henkle capped that drive with a 34-yard field goal, but Butler recovered the ensuing onside kick. Andrew completed 18 of 23 passes for 256 yards and added 78 yards rushing. Loss had three receptions for 93 yards and Cox had three catches for 89 yards. Luke Hansen had 108 yards rushing for Dayton (5-2, 3-1). The Flyers hadn't lost since their season opener at Eastern Illinois. - AP College Football

  WEEK 6 PIONEER FOOTBALL LEAGUE OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Reagan Andrew, Butler (Junior (RS), Quarterback, St. Louis, Missouri),...Andrew ran for all three Butler touchdowns, including the game-winner in overtime, as Butler outlasted St. Thomas, 21-14, in Saturday PFL action. He scored his first two touchdowns in the first half, courtesy a two-yard run in the first frame and a one-yard burst in the second quarter, giving Butler a 14-7 lead at halftime. After a quiet second half, Andrew completed a 12-yard pass on the first play of overtime and then ran the ball on the next four plays, scoring what proved to be the game-winner on a one-yard run. He finished the day with 68 yards and three touchdowns on 26 carries while completing 16-of-21 passes for 141 yards. Andrew accounted for 209 of Butler's 286 offensive yards. - Pioneer Football

  Archie Cox caught a 48-yard pass with 1:47 remaining to give Butler a conference-opening win over Marist, 31-28 on Saturday afternoon. Butler (3-2, 1-0 PFL) had three different receivers score touchdowns in the win. Reagan Andrew was 17-for-27 passing for 151 yards, and a team-leading 57 yards on the ground. There were four lead changes in the fourth quarter. Marist had the lead with 3:11 to go after Sonny Mannino connected with Lance Martinez for a 35-yard reception.

Butler responded with Cox's touchdown and pinned Marist deep after kickoff. The Bulldogs sacked Mannino twice to end the game. Mannino went 23-for-35 with 178 yards and two touchdowns. He was picked off in the first quarter by Will Mason, which set Butler up for their first touchdown of the game on the 6-yard line. Backup quarterback Patrick Grusser went 3-for-3, including a 17-yard completion to Connor Hulstein in the third quarter. Marist (2-2, 0-1 PFL) has not won a PFL opener since 2022, when the Red Foxes defeated Drake 30-25. - AP College Football

  Ethan Loss returned the second-half kickoff for a 90-yard touchdown and Butler beat Division III-member Hanover 16-7 on Saturday. Butler (2-1) leads the series with Hanover (0-2) 23-1-1, with the first meeting coming in 1887. Last season, Butler passed for three touchdowns and added four on the ground in a 53-0 win over Hanover. Loss also had four catches for 68 yards against Hanover. He was coming off a career-high 106 yards receiving last week against Truman State - the first 100-yard game of his Butler career.

Jarrin Alley threw for 178 yards with an interception for Butler. Gabe Passini rushed for 55 yards, including a 10-yard touchdown for a 10-7 lead at the break. Eian Roudebush threw for 109 yards with a touchdown for Hanover. Don Dunning rushed for 60 yards on 11 carries. Curbrian Shelby added 59 yards receiving and a touchdown. Butler held Hanover to just 12 first downs and 158 total yards. It was the second win for coach Kevin Lynch - both at Butler and as a head coach. He was hired in December after serving as Ball State's offensive play caller last year. - AP College Football
