  08/25/22 - Jaquayln CrawfordrSr/2023, Arkansas, 5-10, 181 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Arkansas receiver Jaquayln Crawford entered the transfer portal this week, a team spokesman said Saturday. Crawford played in seven games for the Razorbacks last year in his first season of eligibility after transferring from Oklahoma. He caught three passes 27 yards while playing late in games against Georgia Southern and Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Crawford, 5-10 and 181 pounds, appeared to be low on the depth chart for an Arkansas receiving corps that has had several players impress during preseason practice. He recently returned to practice after suffering a broken leg during the spring. At Oklahoma, Crawford played in one game as a redshirt freshman in 2019. He was a 4-star recruit at Rockdale (Texas) High School and committed to the Sooners over Auburn, Georgia and Notre Dame. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/19/22 - Beaux LimmerrSr/2024, Arkansas, 6-5, 302 (DS#6 C) + More +

Based on recent interviews, offensive guard Beaux Limmer and defensive tackle Terry Hampton probably pump the most iron in the weight room for the University of Arkansas. Coach Sam Pittman recently described the 6-5, 300-pound Limmer as "a freakish-type guy," while teammates and defensive line coach Deke Adams talked about the 6-1, 314-pound Hampton as a weight room warrior. "I'm going to tell you, Terry Hampton, I think he eats the weights in the weight room," Adams said. "I mean, he is as strong as I've ever seen." Hampton, an El Dorado native, transferred to the Razorbacks after four seasons at Arkansas State. "He can have a guy in position and hip-toss him in a heartbeat," Adams said. "He's very, very strong and explosive in his movements...He'd probably be the one that gives [Limmer] a run for his money."

Offensive linemen Brady Latham and Luke Jones said the strength coaches have to cut Limmer off from maxing out on his lifts some times. "They're really high, and the thing is, the crazy part is that we don't really know how high, because usually they're like, 'All right Beaux, you've gone high enough, like, we don't need you to go anymore," Latham said of Limmer's personal bests. "I've never seen Beaux fail on a weight. So, like, you name it, he could probably throw it up there." Jones and Latham suggested Limmer, a junior from Tyler, Texas, could put up 600 pounds on the bench and possibly 700 pounds on the squat. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/17/22 - Eric GregoryrSr/2025, Arkansas, 6-3, 319 (DS#45 DT) + More +

According to Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman and first-year defensive line coach Deke Adams, Eric Gregory is a quiet person by nature. That much may be true off the field and in meeting rooms. But the redshirt junior is a candidate to make noise along the defensive line and have something of a breakout season in 2022. A key reason why is Arkansas' staff has made a push to utilize his versatility by playing him both on the interior at tackle in four-man fronts and at defensive end in three-man looks. "We're moving him around a good bit," said Adams, who was hired earlier this year to lead the group and replace Jermial Ashley. "Right now we're just trying to fit in both aspects because in this league and in this game inside, you never know what happens. "The more versatile you are, the better you are as a group. And as a person, your value (increases) to the team." Gregory, 6-4 and 302 pounds, has played a number of significant snaps for the Razorbacks the past two seasons while somewhat flying under the radar. He finished with 54 total tackles and 7 tackles for lost yardage in 2020 and 2021, but wants to become a more productive and feared part of Arkansas' defense. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/16/22 - *Drew SandersJr/2023, Arkansas, 6-4, 235 (DS#3 OLB) + More +

Linebacker Bumper Pool touted the adaptability of Drew Sanders, who transferred from Alabama over the winter. "What we're asking of Drew, we're not asking a lot of other guys to do," Pool said. "He's going down and rushing the passer off the edge and also coming back with me and playing a standup linebacker. His skill set is so versatile that whenever he makes a mistake doing something he gets - not down on himself - but he wants to be a perfectionist. "So just continuing to tell him, 'Hey, listen. You're doing so many good things. You don't need to get down on yourself because there's a certain mistake that you make having to go back from on the edge to back to linebacker.' But he's picking it up well." - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/14/22 - Marcus MillerrSr/2024, Arkansas, 6-5, 296 (DS#999 DT) + More +

Defensive tackle Marcus Miller is out of practice to have an arthroscopic knee procedure, dropping the 6-5, 286-pound junior from Warren off the 110-man camp roster. Logan Horst, a 6-4, 255-pound senior transfer from Nebraska Wesleyan, was added to fill his spot. Coach Sam Pittman sounded confident Miller, who was off to a good start, would return fairly soon. "It is disappointing because he works so hard and he was doing well," Pittman said. "But you're looking at a, I believe, and I mean this, I believe that he'll be back no later than when school starts. "So I think he'll have two weeks before the Cincinnati game. He had a little clean-out in his knee and that was it. Marcus had been having a good 3-4 days. He's got a good attitude that serves him well, so I anticipate him being back probably the first day of school." - Northwest Arkansas Times

He's also reunited with Arkansas head coach Sam Pittman, formerly the offensive line coach and ace recruiter at Georgia. Brini - who has one season of eligibility remaining - played in 13 games and started 11 for the Bulldogs last season, totaling 38 tackles and eight pass breakups. - Birmingham News

  08/12/22 - Jadon HaselwoodrJr/2023, Arkansas, 6-2, 215 (DS#52 WR) + More +

A top 5 national recruit and the No. 1 wide receiver in the 2019 class, Haselwood was productive but not dominant in three seasons with the Sooners. He totaled 62 receptions for 736 yards and seven touchdowns at Oklahoma, missing half the 2020 season due to injury. Haselwood (6-3, 202) steps out of the portal and into the Razorbacks' No. 1 receiver spot vacated by Treylon Burks, a first-round pick of the NFL's Tennessee Titans. He has two seasons of eligibility remaining. - Birmingham News

  08/11/22 - Matt LandersrSr/2023, Arkansas, 6-4, 200 (DS#25 WR) + More +

Arkansas cornerbacks Malik Chavis and Hudson Clark said wide receiver Matt Landers, a senior transfer from Toledo who began his college career at Georgia, has been tough to defend. "Speed, speed," Chavis said when asked what's impressive about Landers. "He can run and he can catch. So the deep ball, the 50-50 ball, yeah, I like Matt." Clark said Landers, at 6-5, 197 pounds, does a good job of getting open. "He can create a lot of separation," Clark said. "He's got pretty big strides. He's definitely a new type of receiver we've seen this fall camp. He's been good for us." Landers had 20 receptions for 514 yards, a 25.7-yard average, and 5 touchdowns in 12 games last season. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/10/22 - Hudson HenryrSr/2024, Arkansas, 6-5, 254 (DS#999 TE) + More +

Arkansas coach Sam Pittman said Friday after the Razorbacks' first workout of the preseason that tight end Hudson Henry did not finish the practice. Henry, entering his redshirt junior season at Arkansas, was transparent Sunday as to why. He said he suffers from asthma and was having a difficult time breathing in the humid August heat. "That first day I was struggling a lot with some breathing problems," Henry said. "That was kind of a challenge." In the Razorbacks' two practices since, he has had no issues. Henry said he was able to finish the second and third practices and contribute. It was the kind of response tight ends coach Dowell Loggains expected. A quarterback at Arkansas from 2000-04, Loggains is in his second season as an assistant under Pittman.

He spent 2015-20 as an offensive coordinator with three NFL franchises. "(I saw the) same response I'd expect from any of our tight ends, and that's to come in and do your job," Loggains said. "Football is hard, and everything is earned. We had an issue physically with him that he has overcome and done a nice job. I can honestly tell you this, and this isn't coach talk or me trying to sit up here and trying to make something ... This kid honestly cares about the team more than himself. "That doesn't happen much in this world in this time in the age of instant gratification on Twitter and Instagram and Facebook and all that stuff. He legitimately wants to do what is best for the team, be a good teammate and serve in any role he can find that helps the football team." The former No. 1 tight end in his recruiting class, Henry to this point has not had the career many, including himself, thought he would have. He has dealt with adversity on numerous occasions and battled various injuries. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/10/22 - Bumper PoolrSr/2023, Arkansas, 6-2, 235 (DS#18 ILB) + More +

Arkansas is ranked 23rd in the preseason USA Today Coaches Poll that was released Monday. It is the first time the Razorbacks have been ranked in the preseason poll since 2015, when coaches ranked Arkansas No. 20 to open the season. The Razorbacks finished that season unranked following an 8-5 overall record, 5-3 record in SEC play and victory over Kansas State in the Liberty Bowl. Arkansas will open the season against Cincinnati, which is ranked No. 22 by coaches. The season-opening game in Fayetteville will be one of three Week 1 matchups involving a pair of ranked teams in the coaches poll, along with No. 5 Notre Dame at No. 2 Ohio State, and No. 3 Georgia vs. No. 12 Oregon in Atlanta. The Associated Press preseason poll will be released sometime later this month. The AP poll is the Arkansas Democrat-Gazette's poll of record until the College Football Playoff rankings are released in late October. - Northwest Arkansas Times

  08/09/22 - Jordan AnthonyrJr/2027, Arkansas, 5-09, 162 (DS#999 WR) + More +

Mark Stoops has made no secret of his desire to add more speed to Kentucky football's wide receiver room in recent years. But freshman Jordan Anthony has put that goal to the test in a way Stoops did not anticipate. "Might be a little too fast," Stoops joked when asked about Anthony at SEC Media Days this summer. "I'd hate to lose him to the Olympics." That fear seemed justified after Anthony won the U.S. U20 200-meter dash title in Oregon in June. When he crossed the finish line in 20.34 seconds to beat future UK track teammate Brandon Miller, Anthony earned a spot in the U20 world championships.

That event was scheduled for this week in Colombia. Participating would have meant Anthony missed at least the first week of Kentucky's preseason football camp. Instead, Anthony elected to stay in Lexington, placing his track career on hold in hopes of earning a spot in the wide receiver rotation as a freshman. "I just chose to stay here because I wanted to learn the offense, to be able to play more and develop my skills," Anthony said at UK's preseason Media Day on Wednesday. "I know track is going to be there." Anthony arrives in Lexington as part of a much-hyped group of freshmen wide receivers with an opportunity for early snaps. - Herald Leader
