  11/30/25 - KJ JacksonrFr/2029, Arkansas, 6-4, 225 (DS#28 QB) + More +

Arkansas hired Ryan Silverfield away from Memphis as the Razorbacks' new coach Sunday after a miserable 2-10 season filled with near misses. Silverfield is 50-25 in six seasons at Memphis, and he was at his best going 10-3 in 2023 and 11-2 in 2024. The Tigers were ranked as high as No. 22 this season before finishing 8-4. He also went 4-0 in bowl games, not counting the Cotton Bowl in December 2019 that Silverfield coached after Mike Norvell left for Florida State. He will be the 35th head coach in Arkansas history. "Coach Silverfield's proven ability to win games over a sustained period separated him from the pack and make him the right choice to be our next head football coach," Arkansas athletic director Hunter Yurachek said in a statement. Silverfield's worst season at Memphis was 6-6 in 2021. Silverfield has won 29 games over the last three seasons, putting Memphis among the top 15 programs nationally, and he led the Tigers to 12 straight bowl berths, the longest streak among non-Power Four programs.

Yurachek said Silverfield shares Arkansas' vision of making the College Football Playoff and competing for national championships. "With our new and significant financial investment in the football program, we are confident we now have the coach and resources to make that happen," Yurachek said. Memphis athletic director Ed Scott thanked Silverfield and wished him the best in his next chapter. The Tigers named Reggie Howard as interim coach with a national search for Silverfield's replacement underway. The Tigers ranked 19th nationally averaging 34.6 points a game, the fourth straight season Memphis has ranked in the Top 25 nationally in that category at the end of the regular season. Silverfield's teams averaged at least 30 points in each of his seasons. Memphis also gave up only 22.5 points a game this season, the Tigers' best under Silverfield. Arkansas lost at home 31-17 to Missouri on Saturday to cap a season that included an 0-8 record against Southeastern Conference opponents for the third time since 2018. Bobby Petrino, a former Razorbacks head coach from 2008-11, went 0-7 as interim coach after Sam Pittman was fired Sept. 28, though the Hogs lost four of those games by 3 points or less behind a defense that struggled all season. - AP College Football

  09/20/25 - Sutton SmithrJr/2027, Arkansas, 5-09, 185 (DS#35 RB) + More +

Sutton Smith rushed for a career-high 147 yards, including a 64-yard scoring run with 4:51 left to lead Memphis to a 32-31 victory over Arkansas on Saturday. Arkansas' closing effort was thwarted when Razorbacks runner Mike Washington Jr. fumbled deep in Memphis territory. The fumbled was caused by Marcello Bussey, who also recovered the ball at the Tiger 7 preserving the Memphis (4-0) victory. Tiger quarterback Brendon Lewis rushed for 103 yards and added 199 yards passing. Lewis rushed for two touchdowns and threw for another.

Arkansas quarterback Taylen Green threw for 325 yards and a touchdown as Arkansas (2-2) lost its second straight. The game was a bit of a neighborhood showdown, the two teams' fanbases separated only by the Mississippi River. But this was only the sixth meeting between the schools, and the first since 1998. After feeling their way through the first quarter, the Razorbacks opened the offense, mixing its passing attack with the rushing of Braylen Russell. Rohan Jones scored on a 62-yard pass on the Hogs' opening drive and later on a 5-yard run. Touchdowns from both teams late in the first half, including a 38-yard scoring pass from Lewis to Cortez Braham Jr. left pulled Memphis within 28-17 at the break. - AP College Football

Sutton Smith ran for two touchdowns, both in the first half, and the Memphis defense allowed only 112 yards in a 28-7 win over Troy on Saturday. Smith, who was named the Paul Hornung Award most versatile player of the week after piling up a total of 171 yards rushing, receiving and returning punts last Saturday against Georgia State, had 113 yards rushing and 130 total yards against Troy. Makari Bodiford's 8-yard touchdown run for Memphis with about four minutes left in the fourth quarter was the only score of the second half.

Troy's offense didn't cross midfield until Roman Mothershed's 25-yard reception took the Trojans to the Memphis 43-yard line with two minutes left in the game. That drive ended on an interception on a second-and-goal play from the 5-yard line. Brendon Lewis had a touchdown pass and threw for 213 yards for Memphis (3-0). Led by Smith, the Tigers had 217 yards on the ground. Troy (1-2) scored when Taleeq Robbins returned the fumble 11 yards for a touchdown after Donnie Smith of the Trojans strip-sacked Lewis in the second quarter. - Memphis/AP College Football

  09/06/25 - Taylen GreenrSr/2026, Arkansas, 6-6, 227 (DS#9 QB) + More +

Quarterback Taylen Green accounted for 420 total yards, running for 151 yards on nine attempts and one touchdown while passing for 269 yards and four scores, in leading Arkansas past Arkansas State 56-14 on Saturday. A contest between in-state colleges 50 years in the making - at least for one university's fan base - easily went the way of the bigger program that had refused to schedule it until Saturday, as Arkansas (2-0) of the Southeastern Conference ran roughshod over the Sun Belt Conference's A-State. Arkansas scored inside the first 39 seconds of the game, a two-play, 75-yard drive finished by Mike Washington's 53-yard run through left tackle, and went on to pile up four scores and 191 yards on the ground in the opening quarter.

Green found Raylen Sharpe for a 37-yard touchdown pass and ran through the middle for 64 yards and a score, as the Razorbacks led 28-7 within the first 10 minutes of the game. Arkansas State's only answer in that time was a 98-yard kickoff return by Chauncy Cobb, as the Razorbacks' defense overwhelmed the Red Wolves' offense. But Arkansas's offense idled most of the second quarter with a determined but shaky passing game. Green was intercepted twice in the first half – one play after the defense turned the ball over at ASU's 30 late in the first quarter - and had three passes batted down by the Red Wolves' defensive front. Green broke the Hogs' second-quarter drought by engineering a 12-play, 83-yard drive, throwing 8 yards to Jalen Brown for the score with 53 seconds left in the half. His touchdown passes of 33 yards to tight end Rohan Jones and 14 yards to wideout O'Mega Blake in the third quarter left no doubt. - Arkansas/AP College Football

  08/30/25 - Taylen GreenrSr/2026, Arkansas, 6-6, 227 (DS#9 QB) + More +

Taylen Green tied for the second most scoring passes in a single game in Arkansas history throwing six touchdowns and the Razorbacks beat Alabama A&M 52-7 in both teams' season-opener on Saturday. Green, who threw for 322 yards, distributed his scores to five different receivers, three of whom were not on the Arkansas roster last year. Two of CJ Brown's four receptions went for touchdowns, while O'Mega Blake, a transfer from Charlotte, led the team with seven catches for 121 yards and a score. Raylen Sharpe, Andreas Paaske and Jalen Brown caught the other three touchdowns.

Alabama A&M, which plays in the FCS, scored on its first drive of the game, countering Green's first touchdown pass to Brown to open the scoring. After the seven-play, 75-yard Alabama A&M drive, the Bulldogs picked up just 160 yards the rest of the game. Green left after his last touchdown, which he threw near the end of the third quarter to provide the Razorbacks with a 38-point lead. His replacement, KJ Jackson, needed just three plays to add to the tally, throwing a 27-yard touchdown pass to running back Mike Washington Jr. to cap his first drive. Besides the touchdown reception, Washington ran for a team-high 79 yards on nine carries. Maurice Edwards IV, Alabama A&M's running back, scored the Bulldogs' lone touchdown. - Arkansas/AP College Football

WEEK 1 SEC CO-OFFENSIVE LINEMAN OF THE WEEK: Fernando Carmona Jr., OL, Sr.,...Carmona was an integral part of the Razorbacks' 70-0 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Thursday night as the Razorbacks accumulated an astounding 687 yards of total offense, including 279 yards on the ground. The Hogs' 687 yards of total offense were the third most in a single game in program history. Carmona and the Arkansas offensive line paved the way for eight rushing touchdowns during the win, nearly matching last season's rushing touchdown total of nine. According to Pro Football Focus, the San Jose State transfer graded out at 78.0 in his 49 offensive snaps during the victory. Most impressively, the Razorbacks scored a touchdown on all 10 offensive drives in the season opener, becoming the first FBS team in 20 years to accomplish the feat. The Razorbacks' 70 points were the third most nationally during week one, and the 70-point margin of victory was the largest achieved by an Arkansas team since 1928. Arkansas also did not allow a single sack in the win. - SEC Football

  03/04/23 - Taylen GreenrSr/2026, Arkansas, 6-6, 227 (DS#9 QB) + More +

It wasn't that long ago that Boise State quarterback Taylen Green was a wide-eyed freshman, trying to balance class and football in what should have been his last semester in high school. "I was an early enrollee, and I was like, 'Whoa, this is not high school," Green told reporters after the Broncos' first spring practice on Thursday. "Everything is faster, and the quarterback play is a little different from high school."

Green burst onto the scene last season as a redshirt freshman. He took over as the starter after Hank Bachmeier decided to transfer four games into the season. The moment wasn't too big for Green. He went 8-2 as the starter, and racked up 119 rushing yards and three total touchdowns in the Broncos' 35-32 win over North Texas in the Frisco Bowl. Things are a little different for him this March. He's gone from wide-eyed freshman to wily veteran. Green has appeared in only 13 games during his college career, but he is still the most experienced quarterback on the Broncos' roster. - Idaho Statesman

The 6-foot-7 wideout announced via Twitter on Sunday afternoon that he has committed to playing for Arkansas.
