DeWayne McBride ran for 120 and three touchdowns to set a school record and lead UAB to a 41-21 win over North Texas on Saturday. McBride has a single-season record 17 rushing touchdowns this season. Jermaine Brown Jr. had 150 yards and a touchdown to keep the Blazers hopes for a bowl berth alive while ensuring the Mean Green didn't qualify for the Conference USA title game.

McBride scored on short runs in the first quarter but North Texas (6-5, 5-2) stormed back with three touchdowns and took a 21-17 lead at the half. However the Mean Green punted on their next three drives and two fourth quarter drives ended on failed fourth-down conversions. Matt Quinn, who had a field goal on the final Blazers possession before the half, capped the opening drive of the second quarter with another to pull them within 21-20. The next three drives chewed up almost 15 minutes and produced a 2-yard Dylan Hopkins -to-Trea Shropshire score and 1-yard plunges by McBride and Brown. UAB (5-5, 3-4) piled up 234 of its 505 total yards on the ground and held the ball for 15 minutes longer than North Texas. - UAB/AP College Football

Another Auburn player has departed the program as the team comes out of its bye week. Reserve cornerback A.D. Diamond was recently removed from the team's official roster, and head coach Bryan Harsin confirmed Wednesday that the Mobile native is no longer part of the team. A 6-foot, 161-pound redshirt freshman, Diamond did not see the field during his time at Auburn. He was a standout at Blount, where he was a two-way star playing defensive back and wide receiver. As a senior he caught 38 passes for 756 yards and added 25 tackles, 21 pass breakups and seven interceptions on the defensive side.

Diamond joins defensive lineman Zykeivous Walker and wide receiver Landen King as players to leave the program since the start of the season. Diamond is the ninth member of Auburn's 18-player 2021 signing class - the first after Harsin took over on the Plains - to leave the program. He joins King, former four-star defensive tackle Lee Hunter (UCF), former four-star safety Ahmari Harvey (Georgia Tech), former four-star quarterback Dematrius Davis (Alabama State), three-star wide receiver Hal Presley (Baylor), defensive lineman Ian Mathews (Missouri) and former junior college cornerbacks Ro Torrence (Arizona State) and Kamal Hadden (Tennessee) as 2021 signees to transfer out of Auburn since Harsin's arrival. - Birmingham News
