Michigan State Football   The University of Miami has secured its eighth scholarship commitment from the transfer portal, this one a former Iowa cornerback. Graduate transfer Terry Roberts, a 5-10, 180-pound fifth-year senior this past season, announced his decision Monday evening on social media. The Hurricanes are especially in need of cornerbacks, as five-star prospect Cormani McClain flipped his commitment last week from UM to Colorado. Three former UM cornerbacks recently transferred: Al Blades Jr., Isaiah Dunson and Khamauri Rogers.

Roberts, 22, played in five games this past season but reportedly was sidelined by an injury leading to the Oct. 22 Ohio State game. He had three starts last season and amassed 13 tackles (nine solo) with one interception and three pass breakups. He came to Iowa in 2018 as a three-star defensive back out of Erie, Pennsylvania's Cathedral Prep. He redshirted his first season. Roberts finished his Iowa career with 47 tackles and four starts in 33 games played. He had seven pass breakups and two interceptions. - Miami Herald

Colorado Football   A sixth-year senior, Domineck is a 6-foot-3, 251-pound edge rusher who had a stellar season for Arkansas. He wasn't a starter, but he played in all 13 games and posted 34 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss and 7.5 sacks. Only three players in the SEC had more sacks. Prior to his one year at Arkansas, he played four seasons (2018-21) at Georgia Tech, seeing action in 31 games, with 15 starts, recording 101 tackles, 17.5 tackles for loss and 9.0 sacks. Domineck comes to CU loaded with confidence and the ability to boost what was a dismal pass rush last year. "Personally, I have a lot of confidence in myself and what I can do," he said. "I feel like if I can't go out there and truly be the person that (CU coaches) look at and they call on, then what am I doing? That's how I really want to be able to carry myself. "I just want to have (my confidence) grow even more as long as I'm developing both physically, mentally, emotionally; everything."

That's why he is eager for a new challenge - even if it's one he didn't expect. "Honestly when I first entered the portal I didn't know where I wanted to go," he said. It wasn't long before the CU staff contacted him, however. Sanders and a large chunk of the CU staff came from Jackson State and they recruited Domineck a year ago. "They almost flipped me from Arkansas my first time in the portal," Domineck said. "Their impact just stuck with me. I realize how truly friendly and how everybody just is really keen on relationships, but also come in to work. - Daily Camera

Texas AM Football   After four years in a Boston College football uniform, senior defensive back Josh DeBerry announced on Twitter on Monday that he will enter the transfer portal with one year of eligibility. DeBerry played in 11 games in the 2022 season, extending his streak of appearing in 10-plus games a year to three straight seasons. He served as a leader of BC's defense, earning All-ACC honorable mention honors after the 2022 season, All-ACC Second Team honors in 2021, and All-ACC honorable mention honors in 2020.

With his transfer announcement, DeBerry joins a group of seven other Eagles in the portal, including two other defensive backs, CJ Burton and Jason Maitre, and quarterback Phil Jurkovec. Last season, DeBerry played a crucial role in BC's secondary, recording 39 solo tackles and 50 total tackles. He recovered a fumble against Maine and contributed to BC's first-half push against Clemson with a first-quarter interception that put BC inside the Tigers' 25-yard line. In his career with BC, DeBerry totaled four interceptions, three forced fumbles, and 158 total tackles. - The Heights

Mississippi State Football   North Texas lost the anchor of its offensive line after last season. The Mean Green may have found a replacement in former Arkansas State center Ethan Miner. Miner entered the transfer portal after the 2022 season and announced his decision to continue his career with the Mean Green on Tuesday. "See you in May UNT!" Miner wrote on his Twitter account.

Miner, who is 6-foot-3 and 295 pounds, will have two seasons of eligibility remaining with the Mean Green. UNT was headed into its first season under new coach Eric Morris with a significant hole in its lineup at center after Manase Mose graduated. Mose was a first-team All-Conference USA selection in 2022, when he became UNT's all-time leader in games started with 62. Miner started 24 games over the course of the last three seasons at ASU, including 12 starts at center last season. - Denton Record

West Georgia Football   Dazalin Worsham is heading home to finish out his college career. The former Hewitt-Trussville standout, who spent last season at Auburn, announced Tuesday night that he has transferred to UAB to play for Trent Dilfer's program. Worsham is a 6-foot-1, 177-pound Birmingham native who was an Under Armour All-American at Hewitt-Trussville, where he became one of the most prolific wide receivers in Alabama high school football history.

  01/30/23 - C Rusty FethrSr/2024, Iowa + More +

Iowa Football   The Iowa Hawkeyes picked up their second addition from the NCAA transfer portal Sunday when Miami of Ohio center Rusty Feth committed to the Hawkeyes. Feth's addition signals yet another acknowledgment from the football coaching staff that the offensive line's poor performance in 2022 was unacceptable. Iowa struggled to protect its quarterbacks, allowing 277 sack yards (ranking 120th out of 131 FBS teams) - a stat that is saying something considering the Hawkeyes attempted only 349 passes, 100th in the country. The Hawkeyes also averaged 2.92 yards per carry, 127th in FBS. - Hawkcentral.com

Penn State Football   As cornerback rooms go, few were better than Penn State's in 2002. The Nittany Lions' top four combined for 43 pass breakups, six interceptions, eight tackles for loss, three forced fumbles and a fumble recovery. The play of the PSU corners was a major reason James Franklin's team finished second nationally among FBS teams in pass efficiency defense, eighth in red zone defense, 10th in scoring defense and 17th in total defense. But the Lions are replacing one of the top corners in the nation.

Fortunately, a standout third-year corner is back. Kalen King led Penn State with 18 pass breakups and intercepted three passes. He made significant strides during the final few games of his true freshman season of 2021. This year, the 5-foot-11, 189-pounder was a second-team All-Big Ten choice by the Associated Press and second-team All-America by the Walter Camp Foundation. - Tribune Review

Vanderbilt Football   Vanderbilt football announced Tuesday that three transfers had signed and would join the team for spring practice. In addition to Stanford edge defender Aeneas DiCosmo, who announced his commitment in December, the Commodores also landed Stanford defensive lineman Jacob Katona and Michigan State linebacker Carson Casteel. The three will join Vanderbilt for spring practice along with three early-enrolling freshmen: running back Sedrick Alexander and linebackers Ethan Crisp and Jailen Ruth.

Casteel, 6-2 and 222 pounds from Florence, Alabama, redshirted his first season with the Spartans and appeared in eight games on special teams in 2022. He did not record a statistic. - Tennessean

Texas AM Football   Texas A&M quarterback Conner Weigman is not expected to play baseball for the Aggies this spring, head coach Jim Schlossnagle confirmed Tuesday. Weigman played in five games for the football team this season, throwing for 896 yards and eight touchdowns. The true freshman completed 73 of 132 passes. Weigman played shortstop for Bridgeland High School and was rated the 40th overall prospect in the state of Texas and 11th in his position in the class of 2022, according to Perfect Game.   Central Florida Football   Memphis football added a boost to its receiver room after Marshall receiver Corey Gammage committed to the Tigers on Monday. Gammage, who is 6-foot-4 and 220 pounds, led Marshall in receiving for the past three seasons and was an All-Sun Belt honorable mention selection the last two seasons. As a junior, he had 52 catches for 774 yards and six touchdowns after recording 78 catches for 878 yards and two touchdowns in 2021.

Gammage made his announcement on Twitter and originally hails from Delray Beach, Florida. He has one season of eligibility remaining and is the Tigers' third commitment within the last 24 hours. In his career, he's caught 178 passes for 2,239 yards and 13 touchdowns. Gammage also reunites with Memphis offensive coordinator Tim Cramsey. Cramsey served in the same capacity at Marshall from 2018-21, which coincided with Gammage's first four seasons. Memphis needs more speed and size with its receivers and Gammage could help fill that void. - Memphis Commercial Appeal

Utah Football   Less than a month after entering the NCAA transfer portal, Utah running back Micah Bernard is reportedly returning to the Utah Utes' football program. UteZone's Steve Bartle first reported Friday that the 6-foot, 202-pound Bernard will withdraw from the portal and return to Utah, and KSL Sports later reported the same, saying that "things are moving in a positive direction" for Bernard to stick with the Utes.

While Bernard did not officially make a statement regarding any decision, he later appeared to confirm the news when on his Instagram story he shared a headline from a Utah fan page that read, "Micah Bernard is returning to Utah for the 2023 season." Bernard has started 12 games over the past two seasons for Utah, including one at cornerback in the 2022 Rose Bowl when Utah had injury limitations at the position. In four seasons with the Utes' program, Bernard has rushed for 1,136 yards and six touchdowns, while also catching 64 passes for 590 yards and three touchdowns. - Deseret News
