Notre Dame Football   Jeremiyah Love bolstered his Heisman Trophy candidacy with 171 yards rushing and three touchdowns on just eight carries, and No. 9 Notre Dame blew out injury-decimated Syracuse 70-7 on Saturday. Love's touchdown runs covered 45, 14 and 68 yards. Notre Dame (9-2) set a modern-era scoring record, topping its 69-point outing against Georgia Tech on Nov. 5, 1977. The Fighting Irish had not scored 70 points since they had 73 against Haskell in 1932. Syracuse allowed 70 points for the first time since it gave up 75 to Union in 1891. Notre Dame scored 21 points before its offense even took the field on Saturday - returning two interceptions and a blocked punt for touchdowns - en route to its ninth straight win after an 0-2 start. Syracuse (3-8) has lost seven straight. The Fighting Irish also set a school record for first-quarter points with 35. The previous record was 28, which happened four times, most recently in 2017 against Miami (Ohio).

It could have been more: The quarter ended with the Fighting Irish on the Syracuse 1. Notre Dame's 49-0 halftime lead was also a school record. Its previous high for points in a half was 45 against Georgia Tech in 1973. Jalen Stroman, starting in place of injured defensive back Tae Johnson, returned an interception 44 yards for a touchdown on Syracuse's second play. Four plays later, Stroman blocked a punt that Luke Talich caught and returned 22 yards to the end zone. Leonard Moore had Notre Dame's third pick-6 in its last two games, intercepting a pass by Joe Filardi and racing 46 yards to the end zone. When Notre Dame's offense finally took field at the 7:08 mark of the first quarter, the Fighting Irish showed their explosiveness, with Love's 45-yard TD run on their second offensive play and a 58-yard TD run by Jadarian Price on their fifth play. Notre Dame's C.J. Carr played sparingly, completing 5 of 9 passes for 49 yards and a touchdown. Filardi, a walk-on freshman, threw for 83 yards with three interceptions, two of which were returned for touchdowns. After his second pick-6, he was pulled briefly for Luke Carney. Filardi returned and ran for a 6-yard touchdown with 7 seconds left in the game. - Notre Dame/AP College Football

Mississippi Football   Joshua Dye scored three touchdowns, including a game-tying score to force overtime in a comeback, for Southern Utah in its 36-34 double-overtime win over North Alabama on Saturday. Dye scored his second touchdown with 9:42 remaining to cut the Thunderbirds' (7-5, 6-2 United Athletic Conference) deficit to 28-21. The Lions (2-10, 1-7) chewed more than seven minutes on a 14-play, 50-yard drive, forcing three Thunderbirds' timeouts. Ian Vachon missed a field goal from 35 yards, and the Thunderbirds mounted a seven-play, 80-yard drive capped by a 3-yard touchdown run from Dye to send the game to overtime. Dye was stopped short on fourth-and-2 to open the extra period, but the Lions turned the ball over on a Roderick Taylor Jr. fumble.

Taylor scored on a 1-yard run in the second overtime, but the two-point conversion failed. The Thunderbirds answered with a 15-yard touchdown from Bronson Barren to Gabe Nunez, and a 2-yard rush from Shane Carr for the game-winning conversion. The Thunderbirds, who have won six straight games, never led until the game-winning score. Dye, who had already broken Southern Utah's single-season records for rushing touchdowns (23) and carries (271), added the net rushing yards record to his tally, finishing with 1,831 yards after a 108-yard day. John Austin Wood was 15-of-22 passing for 236 yards and a touchdown for North Alabama. Lando Brown entered the game No. 2 in FCS football in sacks, and added two, finishing with 14.0 on the year.   Alabama Football   Six different players scored touchdowns, including two apiece from Kevin Riley and AK Dear, and No. 10 Alabama cruised to a 56-0 win against lower-division Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Alabama (9-2) held out a few key players - receiver Germie Bernard, center Parker Brailsford and tight end Josh Cuevas - with the Iron Bowl on tap next week. Cuevas was injured in practice, and his availability moving forward is up in the air, said coach Kalen DeBoer. Even without those starters, the Crimson Tide outgained the Panthers 539-34 - hardly a surprise given one is a powerhouse program, and the other is a losing team from the Football Championship Subdivision.

The lopsided contest allowed for the majority of Alabama's roster to see playing time. Quarterbacks Ty Simpson, Austin Mack and Keelon Russell led scoring drives. Alabama ran for a season-high 269 yards, with all eight offensive touchdowns coming on the ground. Alabama's eight rushing TDs are the program's most in a game since 1979 against Vanderbilt. A lackluster ground game has been an area of emphasis for Alabama all season. The Tide rank 123rd nationally with 108.7 yards rushing a game. Alabama dominated from the onset, intercepting Eastern Illinois (3-9) on the opening possession and turning that into a touchdown. On the following possession, Alabama blocked a punt to set up another quick score. In total, 31 of Alabama's 38 first-half plays were in Eastern Illinois territory. It wasn't all good for the home team, though. Simpson threw two interceptions, giving him seven consecutive games with a turnover, and Alabama's Conor Talty missed a 28-yard field goal. Boos rained down from the Bryant-Denny Stadium crowd after Talty's miss. He was eventually replaced. - Alabama/AP College Football

The Spiders (7-5) trailed 14-0 at halftime before Wickersham guided three straight scoring drives. His 11-yard pass to Ja'Vion Griffin capped the opening drive of the half and his 6-yarder to Quanye Veney tied the game. After pinning the Tribe deep, a short punt put Richmond on offense at the 40 after Wickersham followed Veney's 25-yard run with a 15-keeper to the end zone for the lead.

William & Mary (7-5) tied the game on Tyler Hughes' second rushing touchdown early in the fourth quarter.
