Louisville says kicker Blanton Creque will miss the remainder of the season with a torn left anterior cruciate ligament. Creque's injury, sustained while attempting a tackle late in the fourth quarter of Saturday's 28-21 victory against Virginia, also ends the collegiate career of the Cardinals' most accurate kicker (82.3%). The senior will undergo surgery in the next couple of weeks. Creque made 8 of 11 field goals and all 33 extra-point attempts for 57 points this season. His 51 field goals on 62 attempts and 310 career points both rank third in program history. Creque's 41-yard field goal that helped Louisville edge Boston College 41-39 on Oct. 5 was one of two game-winners with the Cardinals. Sophomore backup Ryan Chalifoux could start when Louisville (5-3, 3-2 Atlantic Coast Conference) visits Miami on Nov. 9 after a bye. - AP College Football

A week off and a chance to regroup appeared to boost Michigan State’s overall team health.

Following the break, the Spartans had a handful of players back in uniform for Saturday’s game against Penn State, but that resulted in more players injured on both sides of the ball in a 28-7 loss to the Nittany Lions. - MLive.com

Barring some weirdness with the voters next week, Alabama-LSU will be the 26th 1 vs. 2 regular-season game, including conference championship games. The No. 1 team is 15-8-2, including LSU's 9-6 victory at Alabama in 2011, the last time 1 and 2 met in the regular season. The advent of the Bowl Championship Series in 1998, and then later the College Football Playoff, have created frequent 1-2 matchups during bowl season. Overall, No. 1 is 28-21-2. After LSU and Alabama played as 1 and 2 in the regular season, they had a rematch in the BCS championship game in January 2012 won by the Crimson Tide. Heading into that BCS championship was the last time LSU was No. 1. - AP College Football

Dan Ellington threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more as Georgia State beat Troy 52-33 on Saturday night. Ellington had 189 yards passing for the Panthers (6-2, 3-1 Sun Belt Conference), who are on a four-game win streak. Tra Barnett ran for a career-high 242 yards and had two touchdowns. Seth Paige added 109 yards rushing and a score. Ellington capped the first drive of the game with a 19-yard scramble into the end zone for a 7-0 lead.

Troy evened it up early in the second quarter and Ellington replied for the Panthers with a 40-yard scoring throw to Aubry Payne. The next Georgia State drive ended quickly when Paige broke for a 65-yard touchdown run on first down, extending the Panthers' lead to 21-7 with 8:14 left in the first half. They were up 28-14 at halftime. Georgia State made it 35-14 late in the third on Ellington's second TD run, but Troy scored three touchdowns in the fourth to close to 45-33 with 2:47 remaining. Kaleb Barker threw for 421 yards and two touchdowns for the Trojans (3-4, 1-2). - Georgia State/AP College Football

Pat Freiermuth scored the game's first two touchdowns. Turned out that was all No. 6 Penn State really needed against Michigan State's anemic offense. Freiermuth and the Nittany Lions would add more points later, and unbeaten Penn State beat the Spartans 28-7 on Saturday. Sean Clifford threw four touchdown passes on a rainy day, and the Nittany Lions avenged close losses to Michigan State from each of the past two seasons. "I'm very excited that we're undefeated still, and that's the only goal I've had all season and I plan on going through the whole season doing that," Clifford said.

The Spartans (4-4, 2/3 Big Ten) wrapped up a dreadful stretch in which they lost to Ohio State, Wisconsin and Penn State by a combined score of 100-17. Penn State (8-0, 5-0) moves on to a surprising matchup of undefeated teams Nov. 9 at Minnesota. The Nittany Lions had lost five of their previous six against Michigan State. Clifford's first touchdown pass to Freiermuth, a 16-yarder, opened the scoring in the first quarter, and those same two players gave Penn State a 13-0 lead with a 19-yard strike in the second. KJ Hamler's 27-yard TD catch with 1:20 left in the half -- plus a successful 2-point conversion -- made it 21-0. - Penn State/AP College Football

Wesley Kennedy III and J.D. King ran for 143 yards apiece -- each with two touchdowns -- as Georgia Southern jumped out to an early lead and coasted to a 41-7 victory over New Mexico State on Saturday to keep the Aggies winless on the year. Georgia Southern (4-3), rolling past in the Aggies in a nonconference game, has won three straight. Kennedy scored on runs of 71 and 47 yards in the first half as the Eagles (4-3) sprinted to a 28-7 halftime advantage. Kennedy had five carries for 139 yards in that half as Georgia Southern racked up 259 rushing yards while limiting the Aggies to 104 total yards. The Eagles finished with 404 yards rushing. Kennedy added another score on a 67-yard punt return to give the Eagles a 34-7 lead early in the third quarter. King scored on runs of 2 and 1 yards, also in the initial half. Jason Huntley led the Aggies (0-8), rushing for 129 yards and a score. - Georgia Southern/AP College Football

Brandon Codrington returned a kickoff 75 yards in the final seconds to give North Carolina Central a 30-23 victory over Delaware State on Saturday. The Hornets had just tied the game when Tylik Bethea hit Bizzet Woodley on a 2-yard touchdown toss with 50 seconds remaining. Delaware State was penalized 15 yards on the following kickoff for celebrating after the score. Codrington took the kickoff on his 25, bounced off one of his own blockers and found an open lane to the end zone for the winning score. The Hornets drove to NCCU's 25 in the closing seconds but Bryan Mills picked off Bethea to secure the victory.

NCCU (3-5, 2-2 Mid-Eastern Athletic Conference) avenged a 28-13 upset victory at homecoming at Delaware State last year. It was the first time that Delaware State had beaten the Eagles since 2010. Davius Richard hit Treveyon Pratt on a 74-yard scoring strike midway in the second quarter and then passed to Ryan McDaniel for a 20-yard touchdown toss with 5:18 left in the third to stretch the Eagles' lead to 23-13. Delaware State (1-7, 0-5), which has lost five straight, took an early 3-0 lead when Jose Romo-Martinez nailed a 45-yard field goal in the first quarter. The Hornets tied the game at 10-10 when Bethea found Woodley for a 28-yard scoring strike at the 9:57 mark of the second. - AP College Football

After what interim coach Nunzio Campanile referred to as another training camp these last four weeks while he installed a new offense following the ouster of coach Chris Ash, Rutgers' offense was finally clicking. Rutgers quarterback Johnny Langan had a career day, completing 15 of 21 passes for 192 yards and two touchdowns, and adding 21 rushes for 118 yards and a touchdown to lead Rutgers past Liberty 44-34 on Saturday. "It is what I imagined - I thought it would come a little quicker than that." Campanile said of his offense with a wry smile. "In all honesty I think I learned pretty quickly there are some matchups and stuff that weren't exactly easy for us, and some of the stuff we dealt with the first week probably set us back a little. This is what I would envision us being, and hopefully it is something that we can build off."

Isaih Pacheco ran for 107 yards and a score for the Scarlet Knights (2-6). It was the fourth time in his career he topped 100 yards. Langan had a 51-yard pitch-and-catch to Isaiah Washington for Washington's first career touchdown and Rutgers' first lead of the game at 28-21 with 12 minutes left in the third quarter. It was also Rutgers' first lead since they were leading Boston College 10-7 in an eventual 30-16 loss five games ago. On the ensuing possession, a false start by right tackle Sam Isaacson on fourth-and-goal from the 1-yard line forced Liberty to kick the field goal to make it 28-24 with 6:53 left in the third quarter. However, with Rutgers' offense humming for the first time since the season-opening win against UMass, Liberty's defense was unable to make the stops needed. - Rutgers/AP College Football
