  11/12/22 - RB Devin MatthewsrSr/2025, Towson, 5-09, 195 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Devin Matthews' 3-yard touchdown run with 56 seconds remaining lifted Towson to a 21-17 win over Stony Brook on Saturday. The Seawolves drove from their 33-yard line to the Towson 7 but after a sack and then a spike, a Daron Bryden pass was broken up by Robert Javier in the end zone as time ran out. Stony Brook (2-8, 1-6 Colonial Athletic Association) had taken a 17-14 lead on Angelo Gugliellmello's 26-yard field goal with 2:39 remaining before Towson went 87 yards on 11 plays in 96 seconds. Consecutive completions from Tyrrell Pigrome to Darian Street and Da'Kendall James for a combined 41 yards set up tailback Matthews' direct-snap touchdown. Pigrome was 22-of-40 passing for 255 yards and two touchdowns for the Tigers (5-5, 3-4), who have won four straight in the series. Bryden was 18 of 35 for 273 yards passing and two touchdowns plus an interception. Shawn Harris Jr. had 135 yards receiving with a score. - Towson/AP College Football

  10/29/22 - RB Devin MatthewsrSr/2025, Towson, 5-09, 195 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Devin Matthews amassed 112 yards on 15 carries and scored a touchdown and Joachim Bangda had two rushing touchdowns and Towson held off Monmouth 52-48 on Saturday. The Hawks scored a pair of touchdowns - the last coming on a 26-yarder from Enzo Arjona to Dre Tucker with 37 seconds remaining - in a three-minute span to get within the final margin but Towson (3-5, 1-4 Colonial Athletic Association) covered the kickoff and time expired. Bangda's 6-yard scoring run late in the first quarter gave the Tigers the lead for good. Tyrrell Pigrome completed 20-of-25 passes, connecting with 10-different receivers for 216 yards and a touchdown while Towson's rushing attack compiled 263 yards on 52 carries. Arjona threw 18 for 25 for 213 yards and three touchdowns and Jaden Shirden ran for 211 yards on 19 carries with three touchdowns for Monmouth (4-5, 2-4). It was his third, 200-yard game of the season giving him 1,365 yards on 157 carries. - Towson/AP College Football

  09/05/22 - RB Devin MatthewsrSr/2025, Towson, 5-09, 195 (DS#999 RB) + More +

Devin Matthews ran for two touchdowns and 112 yards and Towson beat Bucknell 14-13 in overtime Saturday night in a season opener. Matthews' 3-yard scoring run in overtime gave Towson a 14-7 lead. It occurred two plays after Tyrrell Pigrome completed a 15-yard pass to Isaiah Perkins on fourth-and-8 to keep the drive going. Bucknell responded with a touchdown on its half of the first overtime when Ethan Grady threw a 4-yard touchdown pass to Christian Spugnardi but the extra point was missed. Grady threw for 158 yards and two touchdowns with both scores going to Spugnardi. The loss snapped a three-game skid for the Tigers, who hadn't won since a 38-24 victory against Albany on Oct. 30. Bucknell's losing streak sits at eight games, losing 13 of their last 14 contests. - Towson/AP College Football
