2022 ALL-MOUNTAIN WEST FOOTBALL FIRST TEAM: LB - Easton Gibbs, So., Wyoming,...Gibbs not only ranked No. 3 in the conference and 23rd nationally in tackles this season, at 9.2 tackles per game, but he recorded the first 100-tackle season of his career, w ith 111. He became only the 61st Cowboy in the 126-year history of Cowboy Football to record 100 tackles in a single season. He will be able to add to that total in Wyoming's bowl appearance later this year. He posted double figures in tackles in five games this season. Gibbs also ranked third on the Cowboy team in tackles for loss, with 8.0. He adde d 2.0 sacks, four quarterback hurries, one pass break-up and one fumble recovery on the season. The University of Wyoming was left out of the Mountain West's 2022 preseason all-conference team and awards, which were voted on by members of the media and unveiled Thursday morning. Fresno State senior quarterback Jake Haener was voted the league's pre season offensive player of the year, while San Jose State senior defensive lineman Cade Hall shared defensive player of the year honors with San Diego State defensive back Patrick McMorris. SDSU return specialist Jordan Byrd was tabbed as the conference' s preseason special teams player of the year. Gibbs will replace All-American Chad Muma, who was drafted in the third round by the Jacksonville Jaguars after finishing second in the FBS with 142 tackles, at middle linebacker. Gibbs was second on the team with 90 tackles from the weak side in 2021. - Casper Star-Tribune
