 Harrison Bailey, Tennessee, Player News

  09/03/20 - QB Harrison BaileyFr/2024, Tennessee, 6-4, 225 (DS#13 QB) + More +

Harrison Bailey had to wait to make his first preseason practice impressions with Tennessee football. His initial opportunities had bright spots, according to Vols coach Jeremy Pruitt. "I thought he had a period there where he really kind of shined taking care of the football," Pruitt said Friday of Wednesday's practice. Bailey, Tennessee's highly touted freshman quarterback, hopped into UT practices for the second week after he missed the first week. Pruitt said after Tennessee's first practice on Aug. 17 that "a few" players did not participate and were quarantined because of COVID-19 protocol. Bailey was among them.

Pruitt did not detail whether Bailey tested positive for COVID-19 or was quarantined because of contact-tracing protocol. Bailey's father, Orvel, told The Athletic that Bailey did not test positive for COVID-19 and was in required quarantine because of a high-risk contact. "I think Harrison is going to be a solid football player for us here," offensive coordinator Jim Chaney said Thursday. "He looks to me like every other freshman quarterback I have had to deal with. They are just learning. The ones they know, they play quick and fine. "I am pleased with Harrison as he continues to develop." - Knoxville News Sentinel
