  Baylor has added former Louisiana Tech quarterback Luke Anthony as a walk-on to the 2022 roster, giving the Bears some veteran depth following the transfer of senior Gerry Bohanon to USF. Anthony didn't play in 2021 after suffering a leg injury late in the 2020 season. He was named Conference USA newcomer of the year as a Louisiana Tech graduate transfer in 2020 as he passed for 1,479 yards and 16 touchdowns with five interceptions in nine games.

Anthony previously played at Abilene Christian from 2016-19 where he was a two-year starter following his prep career at Fort Worth All Saints Episcopal School. After redshirting at ACU in 2016, Anthony threw for 776 yards and 11 touchdowns in seven games in 2017. He became the Wildcats' full-time starter in 2018 and threw for 3,019 yards and 23 scores, including a 231-yard passing performance with two touchdowns in a 55-27 season-opening loss to Baylor. - Waco Tribune Herald

  2020 CONFERENCE USA NEWCOMER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): The league's Newcomer of the Year went to Louisiana Tech QB Luke Anthony, a graduate transfer from Abilene Christian that became the seventh passer to win the award in the last eight seasons. He completed 64.2 % of his passes for 1,318 yards and 15 touchdowns in nine games. Anthony ranks fourth in C-USA in passing efficiency (138.0), sixth in passing average per game (164.3) and ninth in total offense (157.9). He was named C-USA Offensive Player of the Week after passing for a season-high 314 yards and five touchdowns, while adding a rushing TD in a win over Houston Baptist (Oct. 2). - Conference USA Football

  When TCU defensive end Dylan Horton sacked Louisiana Tech quarterback Luke Anthony in the fourth quarter, Anthony turned his right ankle awkwardly, and a cart was brought to take him off the field. The injury occurred with 2:49 left in the fourth quarter. LA Tech players kneeled on the sideline as Anthony received medical attention. The game was stopped for more than 10 minutes. "That's a horrific way to end it," FS1 broadcaster Dave Nitz said. "My thoughts are with Luke Anthony, his family and friends," analyst Robert Smith said on the FS1 broadcast. Before leaving the game, Anthony went 15-for-25 passing with 161 yards and one touchdown. - Monroe News Star

  SEPT 28 CONFERENCE USA OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Louisiana Tech graduate QB Luke Anthony accounted for six touchdowns after posting five touchdown passes and one rushing touchdown in a 66-38 win over Houston Baptist, becoming the fifth player in program history to account for at least six TDs in a single game. It was only the third time in program history that a LA Tech quarterback has passed for five touchdowns and rushed for a touchdown in a single game. The Dallas native threw four TD passes in the first half to become the first Bulldog QB to do so since Ryan Higgins in 2016 and became the seventh LA Tech quarterback to throw for five touchdowns in a single game.

Anthony threw three passing touchdowns of 40-plus yards against the Huskies with throws of 44, 43 and 41 yards. In his first career start for the Bulldogs, Anthony finished the day 17-of-30 for 314 yards. He has now passed for eight touchdowns in the first two games of the season which is the most by a Louisiana Tech QB in the Division I era of the program (since 1975). His eight passing touchdowns this season currently rank second in the nation. Anthony was also named to the Davey O'Brien Award Great 8 list of eight outstanding FBS quarterbacks in week four. - Conference USA Football

  Luke Anthony threw five touchdown passes and ran for another score to lead Louisiana Tech to a 66-38 victory over Houston Baptist on Saturday night. Anthony threw touchdown passes of 44 and 43 yards Wayne Toussant in the first quarter. Isaiah Graham had two 15-yard TD receptions, the second a juggling catch that gave the Bulldogs (2-0) a 38-14 lead with about 3 minutes remaining before halftime. Anthony added a 41-yard TD pass to Jawaun Johnson and bulled into the end zone from the 1 to stretch the lead to 52-24 late in the third quarter. Anthony finished 17-of-30 passing for 340 yards. Bailey Zappe was 37 of 58 for 406 yards passing and threw five touchdown passes - each from inside the 6 - and had an interception to lead Houston Baptist (0-3).   Luke Anthony hit Kobe Clark with a 22-yard touchdown pass in the second overtime period to lift Abilene Christian to a 31-24 Southland Conference victory on Saturday night. Stephen F. Austin's Storm Ruiz kicked a 27-yard field goal with 27 seconds left in regulation to forge a 24-24 tie and force overtime but missed from the same distance in the first overtime period. Blair Zepeda missed a 36-yard field goal attempt in the first overtime for the Wildcats (4-4, 3-3). After Clark's touchdown reception. Abilene Christian stopped the Lumberjacks on four downs to end the game. Anthony completed 29 of 46 pass attempts for 236 yards and two scores. Josh Fink had 12 catches for 110 yards while Tracy James carried 25 times for 105. Trae Self was 25 of 49 for 318 yards and three touchdowns for Stephen F.   Luke Anthony threw three touchdown passes as Abilene Christian ran up a big first-half lead and held it to beat Houston Baptist 45-20 on Saturday night. Anthony had 280 yards passing for the Wildcats (3-4, 2-3 Southland Conference), who snapped a two-game skid. Sema'J Davis ran for 148 yards and a touchdown and Tracy James had 118 yards rushing and another score. The defense held Houston Baptist to just 53 yards rushing.

Anthony threw a pair of touchdown passes in the first half, one to Josh Fink from 12 yards and one to Clark from two yards, and James added a 30-yard scoring run and the Wildcats led 21-6 at halftime. Davis opened the second half with a 75-yard touchdown run on first down and Blair Zepeda capped the following Wildcats' drive with a 26-yard field goal for a 31-6 lead with 7:55 to go in the third quarter.   Tracy James crashed in to score in the waning seconds after Abilene Christian recovered a fumbled punt to grab a 17-10 win over McNeese on Saturday night. Abilene Christian (2-2, 1-1 Southland Conference) led throughout until McNeese's Cody Orgeron and Cyron Sutton hooked up on a 28-yard touchdown pass to tie the game at 10 with 1:53 remaining. The Cowboys were able to force a punt on the next series but Sutton fumbled and ACU's David Stone pounced on it on McNeese's 37 with 1:02 left in the game. Eight plays later James bulled in from the 1 with 13 seconds remaining. Two plays earlier Luke Anthony hit James on an 18-yard pass that took the Wildcats to the 1. Anthony found James on a 59-yard touchdown toss for a 10-3 lead with 7:33 left in the second quarter. Anthony threw for 313 yards and one score. Josh Fink caught nine passes for 123 yards.   Luke Anthony threw for four touchdowns and Tyrese White rushed for 126 yards and another score as Abilene Christian thrashed NAIA's Arizona Christian 66-14 on Saturday night. Anthony was 18-of-26 passing for 260 yards. He threw to eight receivers with Josh Fink grabbing four for 69 yards and a score. Justus Lee caught two for 60 yards and another TD. Sema'J Davis pounded out 92 yards on six carries as the Wildcats totaled 703 yards to Arizona Christian's 191. ACU dominated in first downs 33-8. The Wildcats were ahead 52-0 before the Firestorm got on the board. Arizona Christian's Tyler Duncan threw for 118 yards and two scores and ran for another 30 yards.   2019 PRESEASON CFPA FCS NATIONAL PERFORMER OF THE YEAR TROPHY WATCH LIST: Luke Anthony (QB), Abilene Christian,...Anthony, who earlier this summer served as a counselor this weekend at the Manning Passing Academy, led the Wildcats to a 6-5 overall mark and 5-4 conference record as a sophomore in 2018, ACU's first winning season at the Division I FCS level and its most conference wins since moving up to Division I football prior to the 2013 season.

The Dallas native ranked among the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) top 10 leaders in completions, attempts, passing yards, completions per game and total offense in 2018. He also led the Southland Conference in completions and attempts and was second in TD passes. Anthony additionally ranked second in total passing yards and fourth in passing yards per game, as he finished the season with 319 completions and 484 attempts to set new single-season ACU records. - Abilene Christian Football
