  12/20/22 - QB Tyhier TylerrSr/2023, Army, 5-08, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

2022 PHIL STEEL ALL-INDEPENDENT CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM: QB Tyhier Tyler,...Tyler is awarded with his first appearance on a Phil Steele award list. The senior quarterback rushed for career highs in yards (663), touchdowns (12), yards per carry (4.6) and attempts (143). He also passed 8-for-18 for 301 yards, with two TDs and one INT, averaging 37.6 yards per completion. This season he had three 100-yard rushing games (Georgia St., Troy, and UMass) and had four multi-rushing TD games (Villanova, Georgia St., UConn and UMass). His 12 rushing TDs ranked T-2nd in the entire FBS by quarterbacks. He also became the first Army QB with 10+ rushing TDs since Kelvin Hopkins Jr totaled 17 in 2018. The Newsport News, Va. native finishes his Army career with 24 rushing TDs, T-3rd most by an Army QB, which is also good for T-10th on Army's all-time rushing TD list. For his career Tyler ran 407 times for 1,727 yards (4.2 avg.). - Army Football

  11/26/22 - QB Tyhier TylerrSr/2023, Army, 5-08, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Tyhier Tyler ran for three second-quarter touchdowns and Army staked UMass to a 7-0 first-quarter lead, then rolled to a 44-7 win over the Minutemen on Saturday afternoon. The senior now has 12 rushing touchdowns and is the first Army quarterback to run for 10 or more touchdowns in a season since Kelvin Hopkins Jr. ran for 17 in 2018. Tyler completed both of his pass attempts and carried 11 times for 101 yards to lead the Black Knights. Army (5-6) ran for 329 yards and six touchdowns, with Tyler scoring on runs of 27, 4 and 1 yard. Jakobi Buchanan scored twice and Bryson Daily added a 54-yard run for a touchdown with 90 seconds left.

Army's defense held UMass to just 90 yards on the ground, much of it on the opening drive. Merriweather ran for 36 yards as the Minutemen marched 75 yards in nine plays to score on a 2-yard run by Gino Campiotti four minutes into the game. Merriweather finished with 49 yards on five carries. Brady Olson was 13 of 24 passing for 145 yards for UMass (1-11) and was intercepted twice. Army is now 5-0 all-time against the Minutemen. The Black Knights will have a week off before they face Navy December 10th in Philadelphia. - Army/AP College Football

  09/17/22 - QB Tyhier TylerrSr/2023, Army, 5-08, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Tyhier Tyler ran for three touchdowns, Tyson Riley added a career-high 158 yards rushing and Army returned to its running roots in beating Villanova 49-10 on Saturday, giving coach Jeff Monken a landmark victory. A week after their first 300-yard passing game since 2007 in an overtime loss to UTSA, the Black Knights (1-2) ran for 472 yards in Monken's 59th win at Army, breaking a second-place tie with Charles Daly (1913-16, 1919-22). Red Blaik (1941-58) is the leader at 121. "That doesn't have anything to do with me," Monken said of his move up the Army victory list. "It's these great players and and the players that have played here in the last few years that I've been here. I'm very fortunate to be the coach at West Point. I love this place. It's incredible to be able serve the Army and to serve this institution as the head coach and, you know, I hope there's a bunch more to come." Army threw one pass, which was incomplete, while rushing for the most yards ever given up by Villanova. Jakobi Buchanan, listed at 6-feet, 260 pounds, rumbled 55 yards to help set up Tyler's 7-yard score in the first quarter. That was Buchanan's only carry as he left the game with a left knee injury. - Army/AP College Football

  12/22/21 - QB Tyhier TylerrSr/2023, Army, 5-08, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Cole Talley kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired and Army rallied to beat Missouri 24-22 in the Armed Forces Bowl on Wednesday night. After the Tigers took a 22-21 lead on a touchdown with 1:11 to play, third-string quarterback Jabari Laws led Army (9-4) downfield to the Missouri 24-yard line, setting up Talley's game-winner. Talley, who went to high school about 60 miles east of Fort Worth in Rockwall, Texas, said he was thinking about the brotherhood of Army football players when he went out for the final kick. One of those seniors was Laws, who was the Black Knights' starting quarterback in 2019 before a knee injury sidelined him. He didn't play at all last season following a second surgery.

Army backup quarterback Tyhier Tyler came on after starter Christian Anderson injured an ankle late in the third quarter and threw a 14-yard touchdown pass to Brandon Walters to give the Black Knights their first lead, 21-16. Anderson and JaKobi Buchanan scored on TD runs of 22 and 10 yards, respectively, for Army. Redshirt freshman quarterback Brady Cook threw a 6-yard touchdown pass to Keke Chism with 71 seconds left to put the Tigers (6-7) ahead, but his two-point conversion pass sailed over the head of an open Dawson Downing in the end zone. Cook also ran for a 30-yard score in his first collegiate start. Missouri played without second-team All-America running back Tyler Badie, who was held out by coach Eliah Drinkwitz in advance of the NFL draft. Starting quarterback Connor Bazelak was sidelined because of a leg injury. - Army/AP College Football

  12/12/20 - QB Tyhier TylerrSr/2023, Army, 5-08, 183 (DS#999 QB) + More +

Tyhier Tyler scored on a 4-yard run early in the fourth quarter, the Army defense stoned Navy with a goal-line stand in the third, and the Black Knights beat their archrival 15-0 on Saturday at fog-shrouded Michie Stadium. It was the first meeting between the teams at West Point since 1943. The game was moved to Michie Stadium from its customary site in Philadelphia because COVID-19 regulations in Pennsylvania would not have allowed the Corps of Cadets and Brigade of Midshipmen to attend. The Black Knights (8-2) posted their first shutout in the series since a 27-0 victory in 1969 and have won four of five against Navy (3-7). They had lost all three games played previously at West Point to the Midshipmen, including 13-0 in 1943 during World War II. Navy still leads the series 61-53-7. - AP College Football

Anthony Adkins had a career-best 66-yard touchdown run and finished with 101 yards to lead Army to a 28-16 victory over UTSA on Saturday. Adkins had just eight carries and scored in the first quarter. Army (5-1) then added a touchdown run per quarter each from Jakobi Buchanan, Tyhier Tyler, and freshman quarterback Cade Ballard. Tyler led the Black Knights with 19 carries and had 95 yards rushing. Tyler's 37-yard touchdown run late in the third quarter stretched the lead to 21-10. Buchanan had 10 carries for 40 yards and a 5-yard score. Ballard carried the ball three times and had his first career touchdown run, a 5-yarder in the fourth. - AP College Football
