A former Alabama linebacker is now part of a different in-state program. Markail Benton recently joined the team at Jacksonville State, a team spokesman confirmed to AL.com. A former four-star recruit, Benton posted 19 tackles as a redshirt sophomore at Alabama last season. He went into the NCAA transfer portal in June. - Birmingham News

For the second time in two days, a member of Alabama's 2017 signing class has entered the NCAA transfer portal. Crimson Tide linebacker Markail Benton, who was suspended from the team earlier in the offseason, went into the transfer portal Wednesday afte rnoon, AL.com has learned. The former four-star recruit played in nine games for the Tide as a redshirt sophomore last season and finished the year with 19 tackles. - Birmingham News

Alabama's new online roster doesn't include one of the Crimson Tide's backup inside linebackers from last season. Redshirt junior Markail Benton has been removed from the Tide's online roster. While Benton hasn't entered the NCAA transfer portal as of Mo nday night, it's the second time this offseason that Benton has been taken off that online roster. In addition, sources had indicated during this last month that Benton hadn't been around the team. The former four-star recruit posted 19 tackles as a reds hirt sophomore for Alabama last season. - Birmingham News
