East Carolina senior kicker Jake Verity, the program's all-time career leader in points (352), announced Monday that he intends to enter the 2021 National Football League Draft and forego remaining collegiate eligibility. A multi-year All-American Athlet ic Conference selection and Lou Groza Watch List member, Verity holds career marks in field goals made (74) while owning single-season standards in field goal accuracy (90.5, 19-for-21 in 2018) and three-pointers made (24 in 2019). He closed out his five -year career connecting on 74-of-98 field goals for a 75.5 percent accuracy rate (third all-time at ECU) and converted 130-of-133 extra point tries. - East Carolina Football

Senior kicker Jake Verity has now added the all-time leading scorer title at East Carolina University to his list of accolades, as he is also a multi-time All-American Athletic Conference (AAC) award winner and Lou Groza award runner up. So far in 2020, the Pirates stand at 1-3 overall and 1-2 in AAC games. While much of the team has had some struggles to start the year, Verity is not one of them, and head coach Mike Houston said they are very happy to have him on the team. So far this season, Verity is 6-7 on field goals and 11-12 with his PATs. Already with 29 points he has been one of, if not the most consistent player on the Pirates' team, something Houston said he was impressed with."He did not have the training he typically would have comi ng into the season," Houston said. "For him to be able to perform at a high level, and he's had some issues where he has not been at full strength, but he's continuing to perform at a very, very high level so I think everyone is excited for him, proud of him, and fortunate enough to share the moment with him." So far this season, Verity is 6-7 on field goals and 11-12 with his PATs. Already with 29 points, he has been one of, if not the most consistent player on the Pirates team and that play was reward ed as he just won AAC Special Teams player of the week. OCT 12 AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SPECIAL TEAMS PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Jake Verity, East Carolina, Sr., K, Bremen, Ga.,...Verity scored 14 points, connecting on three field goals (29, 42, 37) and five PATs to help East Carolina to a 44-24 win at USF. In t he process, he became the Pirates' career scoring leader with 309 points, passing the old mark of 300, set by Warren Harvey from 2012-14. 2019 ALL-AMERICAN ATHLETIC CONFERENCE SECOND TEAM (COACHES): K Jake Verity, ECU, Jr.,...Verity earned his second career all-conference accolade after leading the league in field goals made (24), field goals made per game (2.00) and kick scoring (105), wh ile standing third in total scoring and sixth in field goal percentage (82.8 percent). The Bremen, Ga. native is among national leaders total field goals made (t2nd), field goals made per game (2nd), total points (20th) and scoring per game (22nd/8.8 ppg ).A semifinalist for the Lou Groza Award in 2019, Verity set ECU single-season (24) and career (60) records for field goals made, while moving into fourth place on the school's career list with 280 points. He made at least one field goal in all 12 contests (multiple seven times) and extended his current streak to 13 games with a field goal made (dating back to 2018) with his season-long 51-yarder against Tulsa. - East Carolina Football

Jake Verity kicked four field goals, Holton Ahlers passed for 210 yards and a score, and East Carolina beat William & Mary 19-7 on Saturday night. Ahlers completed 20 of 34 passes and added 60 yards rushing and Verity made field goals of 31, 33, 22 and 4 5 yards. Trace Christian had 14 carries for 91 yards and Tay Williams had 71 yards rushing for ECU (2-2). Ahlers hit Anthony Watley for a 20-yard TD to cap a nine-play, 75-yard opening drive and the Pirates never trailed.Tyler Crist scored on a 20 -yard run to make it 7-7 early in the second quarter but Ahlers ripped off a 36-yard run on ECU's following drive that set up Verity's first field goal and the Tribe never again got closer than the Pirates 34 the rest of the way. ECU had seven tackles fo r losses and limited William & Mary (2-2) to 260 total yards. 2019 PRESEASON LOU GROZA AWARD WATCH LIST: Jake Verity, East Carolina,...One of only two kickers in FBS to attempt at least 20 field goals and still connect at a 90% rate, Verity set the East Carolina school record for accuracy. He made field goals in ev ery game of the season, including seven with multiple FGs.
