Jack Jones stepped in front of the receiver, caught the ball and held it out with one hand. Just before he hit the ground, the Arizona State defensive back caught a glimpse of Deandre Pierce and tossed it to his teammate for a spectacular touchdown. The Sun Devils' run game was just as impressive. Pierce scored a 27-yard touchdown on a lateral off Jones' interception and No. 22 Arizona State rode its explosive run game to a 28-10 win over Stanford on Friday night. The Sun Devils (5-1, 3-0 Pac-12) exploited one of the nation's worst run defenses, racking up 255 yards and three touchdowns on the ground.

Jayden Daniels provided the balance, throwing for 175 yards and running for 76 more, including a 51-yard touchdown. Their defense gave up some big plays in the passing game, but kept the Cardinal out of the end zone in the second half and created three turnovers - none more exciting than the interception and lateral. "When I got it, I knew it was me and the receiver on an island," Jones said. "I turned around a 'Dre was there. Luckily he caught the ball." Stanford (3-3, 2-2) had no answer for Arizona State's run game and became one dimensional offensively after falling behind, limited to 9 yards rushing on 20 carries. Tanner McKee threw for 356 yards and a touchdown, but had his first three interceptions of the season, including Pierce's back-breaking TD in the third quarter. - Arizona State/AP College Football

  12/01/20 - CB Jack JonesrSr/2022, Arizona State, 5-11, 177 (DS#34 CB) + More +

The Arizona State football team is busily preparing for its first game in a month but those preparations have been derailed a bit as junior safety Aashari Crosswell and senior corner back Jack Jones have been suspended indefinitely according to a team spokesman. Jones was a starter in the Sun Devils season opener against USC, tallying five tackles and a pass breakup. Crosswell was a starter his first two seasons at ASU but played only sparingly in the opener and did so primarily on special teams. It is unknown whether the two will be available for ASU's game on Saturday against UCLA at Sun Devil Stadium but missing at least some practice time wouldn't weigh in their favor. - Arizona Republic

Arizona State's talented and deep secondary just got even deeper. Former five-star recruit Jack Jones has joined the Sun Devils and will have two years of eligibility remaining. He played for two seasons at USC before attending a junior college in 2018-19. Jones is a product of Long Beach Poly High School where he played under Antonio Pierce, now ASU's linebackers coach and recruiting coordinator.

He was rated the No. 19 overall prospect and No. 2 cornerback in the 2016 class by 247Sports and becomes the second-highest-rated recruit in 247Sports history to suit up for the Sun Devils, behind only Vontaze Burfict. Jones was a reserve for the Trojans in 2016 but started at cornerback the next season, managing 40 tackles, eight pass breakups and a team-leading four interceptions. - Arizona Republic
