Heading into Saturday's scrimmage, the Miami Hurricanes had made it through the early portion of fall camp without sustaining any major injuries. But as the team grinds through fall practices, players are starting to get banged up. Freshman running back TreVonte' Citizen suffered a "significant" injury, coach Mario Cristobal said Monday. Cristobal, however, did not disclose the type of injury Citizen sustained. "We'll continue to assess and evaluate," Cristobal said. "And it's going to require some time ." Citizen's injury is a setback for the promising young running back.The Lake Charles, Louisiana, native was rated a four-star prospect by 247Sports' composite rankings coming out of high school, and he has drawn rave reviews from coaches and pla yers since arriving in Coral Gables. "He gets after it," Cristobal said at Miami's media day. "There's no backing down in that guy. That guy is tough. He's physical. He works. He wants to compete. He's a big guy. That's no little skinny dude. TreVonte' h as taken great pride in No. 1, choosing and coming to Miami, and adapting quickly to being in a different environment and taking to a strength and conditioning regimen that is very demanding." - Sun Sentinel

Quarterback Tyler Van Dyke told WQAM's Rose and Joe Zagacki that he believes freshman running back TreVonte' Citizen, who has been on campus this summer, "is going to be a great player. He still has to prove it because he's a freshman, but I really can s ee him playing early..."Last year, Rooster [Jaylan Knighton] was really the only guy we had. He took a lot of hits." Now, UM is five deep in good backs with Don Chaney Jr., Knighton, Henry Parrish, Citizen and Thad Franklin. "We'll have three, four [back s who will play a lot]," Van Dyke said, adding that new offensive coordinator Josh Gattis "will do a great job of rotating them" and maximizing their strengths. - Miami Herald
