The Oregon State Beavers initially signed just 11 football prospects in its 2021 recruiting class, the smallest in program history. But there was a method to the madness, as Jonathan Smith and his coaching staff believed they could take advantage of the NCAA's transfer portal and late 2021 signees to bolster the roster throughout the late spring and early summer. On Wednesday, Oregon State secured its seventh FBS transfer, as Penn State wide receiver and former Under Armour All-American selection John D unmore Jr. announced his commitment to the Beavers.Dunmore took an official visit to Corvallis last weekend, and the combination of the academic calendar and the college football offseason plans, it seemed likely a commitment was imminent. Coming out of high school as part of the 2019 recruiting class, the the 6-foot-2, 172-pound pass-catcher was rated the nation's No. 120 overall prospect and the No. 20 wide receiver. Dunmore Jr. committed to Penn State over offers from more than 30 schools, inc luding Auburn, Florida, Florida State, Georgia, Miami (Fla.), Michigan, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, Texas A&M and many others. - The Oregonian

It looks like the FAU Owls will add a second former Penn State player to their 2021 recruiting class. Former Nittany Lions wide receiver John Dunmore announced on his Instagram story on Thursday that he's going to transfer to Florida Atlantic. His transf er to the Owls will reunite him with Michael Johnson Jr., a former Penn State quarterback who joined FAU's 2021 recruiting class as a transfer on Wednesday. The 6-foot-1, 179-pound wide receiver was ranked as a four-star prospect after finishing his high school career at Chaminade-Madonna. He also played at American Heritage-Delray and Cardinal Gibbons. He played one game for Penn State against Purdue on Oct. 5, 2019. Dunmore redshirted the 2019 season, withdrew from the program in October and has been training in Florida, according to 247 Sports. He is expected to join FAU as a redshirt freshman and have four years of eligibility left. - Sun-Sentinel

Penn State's wide receiver room shrunk by one player Wednesday afternoon. Lions247's Sean Fitz first reported that redshirt freshman wide receiver John Dunmore had withdrawn from Penn State and has been training at home in South Florida for weeks. Fitz's report also stated Dunmore had not entered the NCAA's transfer portal as of Wednesday afternoon. The university confirmed the redshirt freshman was no longer at the school. "John Dunmore has withdrawn from Penn State this semester for personal reasons," a statement from a Penn State spokesperson read. The redshirt freshman came to Penn State in its 2019 recruiting class as a four-star wide receiver and was competing for playing time at the position with nine other wideouts this season. He only appeared in one game last year and did not record any receptions. - Centre Times
