Among the more highly touted running back recruits in recent memory, Evans originally signed with Georgia before some off-field concerns moved the Bulldogs to cut ties with him before he arrived on campus in Athens. The Houston native instead landed at T CU, where he averaged 7.3 yards per carry and scored nine touchdowns in 15 games the last two seasons before transferring to Ole Miss. Evans (6-0, 215) is expected to carry the running game load for the Rebels after top rushers Jerrion Ealy and Snoop Con ner left for the NFL and Henry Parrish transferred to Miami. - Birmingham News

It was his fourth consecutive 100-yard game, and his sixth in the last eight games going back to last season.TCU coach Gary Patterson said E vans, whose 17 carries before halftime were more than he had in each of the last two games, could have returned if needed. "We just made a decision...We wanted to be very careful about it, the injury," Patterson said. "It's not a good turf for foot injur ies." The Frogs, playing their first road game of the season, piled up 394 yards rushing. They jumped out to a 14-0 lead midway through the first quarter on a 33-yard score by Miller. SEPT 13 BIG 12 OFFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: Zach Evans, TCU, RB, So.,...Evans set a career-high with 190 yards rushing, becoming the first Horned Frog to eclipse 190 yards or more since Sewo Olonilua's 194 yards in the 2018 Cheez-It Bowl. He scored on a 51-yard touchdown run just before the end of the first half, which changed the momentum of the game and helped TCU erase a pair of 12-point deficits to pull out the 34-32 win over California. The sophomore had a rushing touchdown for the fourth straight game, the first TCU player to do so since Olonilua's four straight in 2019. Evans also had a 14-yard reception giving him 200-plus all-purpose yards on the afternoon. - Big 12 Football

TCU running back Zach Evans will likely be on the bench when the offense takes the field to start the 2021 season against Duquesne on Saturday night. Coach Gary Patterson said Evans is not expected to play the first two offensive series of the game after violating team policy. Patterson did not expand on what rule(s) Evans broke. Patterson said Evans has handled himself well since arriving on campus last year as the program's highest-rated recruit, earning a 3.75 GPA his first year and being named to th e Academic All-Big 12 Rookie Team. But rules are rules. - Fort Worth Star

Evans is the highest-rated recruit in TCU football history and is beginning to make a name for himself. After sitting out during parts of preseason practice due to exposures, Evans struggled to learn the playbook. He has since improved and at the end of the season was beginning to play like the star fans thought he would be, rushing for over 100 yards in two of the last three games. Evans finished the season with an average of 7.7 yards per carry (team-best). - Dallas Morning News
