Colorado's scrimmage at Folsom Field on Saturday didn't offer much of a season preview of the inside linebacker position. All-American candidate Nate Landman sat out to keep his body fresh. Veterans Jonathan Van Diest and Robert Barnes didn't participate either. It did, however, give newcomer Jack Lamb a good opportunity to play. A graduate transfer from Notre Dame, Lamb was involved with several defensive plays throughout the day. It was the latest sign that Lamb has put some injury troubles behind him as he competes for playing time with the Buffs. "Physically I feel really good, completely healthy right now," Lamb said early in camp."I feel like I'm in really good shape. Especially being out here in this altitude, it's been nice for getting i n shape, too, so I feel good." Lamb played three seasons at Notre Dame, but the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder dealt with several injuries. That led to him falling on the Fighting Irish depth chart and making the move to Boulder. "It's been really exciting, just a whole new environment," he said. "A lot different than Indiana, obviously, in terms of weather, scenery and all that. From "Touchdown Jesus" to "First Down Moses" and other football statues and traditions associated with Notre Dame, Jack Lamb felt fortunate to get a chance to play for the Fighting Irish. He is now, however, embracing a new opportunity to play for the Co lorado Buffaloes. An inside linebacker, Lamb will join the Buffs in June as a graduate transfer after three seasons with the Irish. He has three years to play with the Buffs. Former Notre Dame linebacker Jack Lamb is transferring to Colorado."When I made a decision to transfer, CU was one of the first places that reached out to me and it was a place that I've been thinking about for a while anyway," said Lamb, who grew up in Temecula, Calif. "I like the area, I like the proximity to home. I think it's a program in the right direction in terms of reaching towards winning more games and possibly towards the Pac-12 championship and giving yourself a shot at the national championship. I think they have all those attributes, and that's important to m e. All those things added up." Lamb played for a national championship contender in South Bend, Ind., as the Irish were among the four teams in the College Football Playoff semifinals twice in his three years. The Colorado Buffaloes are adding another transfer to the football program. Inside linebacker Jack Lamb, who played at Notre Dame the past three years, announced Thursday on Twitter that he is coming to Boulder. Lamb was not a starter at Notre Dame, but the 6-foot-4, 230-pounder saw time in reserve with the Fighting Irish. Playing mostly special teams this season, Lamb recorded 13 tackles and two quarterback hurries on defense. He had four tackles, including three solo stops, in a 47-40 double overtime win against then-No. 1 Clemson on Nov. 7. - Daily Camera

The trajectory of Jack Lamb's career at Notre Dame never recovered following a season-ending hip injury in 2019. Now the Irish linebacker will look to finish his football career elsewhere. Lamb, a junior, announced Tuesday on Twitter that he plans to com plete a graduate transfer after finishing his degree this spring. The 6-foot-4, 230-pound Lamb carved out a role as a linebacker in Notre Dame's dime package during the 2019 season until suffering the hip injury against Virginia Tech on Nov. 2. Lamb reco rded seven tackles, two tackles for a loss, one sack, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery in eight games before being sidelined. - South Bend Tribune
