As a youngster Cohl Cabral used to look forward to the NFL draft. He had a passion for football and couldn't wait to see who his favorite team, the Raiders, would select. A decade or so later Cabral is just excited about one of the annual rites of the s pring for all football enthusiasts. But this year he is even more invested in what could happen a month from now. Cabral (6-foot-5, 305-pounds) wrapped up a stellar career at Arizona State where he started 39 games. He is one of four Sun Devils who atten ded the NFL combine Feb. 27-March 1 in Indianapolis and hopes to hear his name called on one of the three days in which selections will be made next month. "It's exciting, nerve-wracking. A lot of anticipation - All of those things," he said. "If you're a football fan those were the days you couldn't wait for. As a kid that always loved the sport I always hoped it might be me some day." Cabral, 22, expects to graduate in May with a degree in liberal studies. Like all students, he is finishing up his cla sses on-line. But he was doing so even before the COVID-19 virus caused a disruption in everyday activities of student-athletes. - Arizona Republic

The Sun Devils officially kicked off practice on Wednesday night and the session ran for two hours and 20 minutes, about 10 minutes longer than expected. Senior Cohl Cabral moved from center to left tackle, replacing senior Zach Robertson, the projected starter there, and Edwards confirmed that the move wasn't just for the night. Robertson will be out for at least the near future and Edwards conceded he could miss games while dealing with "personal matters." "When he's ready to come back we'll get him b ack but right now he could be out awhile," Edwards said.Cabral is considered an NFL prospect at center and returned to ASU for his senior season rather than declare for the NFL draft, hoping to improve his stock at that position. The position is n ot unfamiliar to Cabral however. He did play left tackle before moving to center last season and offensive line coach Dave Christensen says Cabral has the athleticism and agility to play every position on the line. - Arizona Republic

2019 PRESEASON OUTLAND TROPHY WATCH LIST: C Cohl Cabral, Arizona State,...Cabral, who was tabbed to the Rimington Trophy Watch List last week, earned a spot on the 2019 Outland Trophy Watch List following a 2018 season that saw him start all 13 games for the Sun Devils last season at center, and was widely respected as one of the best in all of college football. One of just 15 Power Five centers to not allow a sack last season, Cabral was instrumental in helping pave the way for a record-breaking season from Sun Devil running back Eno Benjamin, while also anchoring a line that allowed just 16 sacks all season - good for the third-fewest allowed by an ASU offensive line in program history. - Arizona State Football
