  01/14/23 - Trey MoorerSr/2026, Texas, 6-2, 243 (DS#11 OLB) + More +

UTSA outside linebacker Trey Moore landed on the 2022 Football Writers Association of America (FWAA) Freshman All-America Team, the organization announced on Thursday. Moore is one of 32 first-year players named to the team, and the Smithson Valley High School product is the fourth Roadrunner to be named a Freshman All-American, joining Sincere McCormick (2019 FWAA), Jared Sackett (2017 USA TODAY) and Josiah Tauaefa (2016 FWAA). It also marks the second Freshman All-America honor for Moore, who was named to the College Football News First Team Defense in December. A redshirt freshman, Moore broke Marcus Davenport's single-season program record for tackles for loss by recording 18 total stops behind the line of scrimmage in 2022. He totaled 59 tackles, eight sacks, six pass breakups, five quarterback hurries, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery en route to Conference USA All-Freshman Team and honorable mention all-conference accolades. - UTSA Football

  01/14/23 - DeMarvion OvershownrSr/2023, Texas, 6-3, 229 (DS#10 OLB) + More +

Texas safety-turned-linebacker DeMarvion Overshown is preparing for the NFL Draft after wrapping up his best season as a Longhorn. Overshown played a massive role in turning around the Texas defense in 2022. He totaled 96 tackles, 10 tackles for loss and four sacks, earning first-team All-Big 12 honors for his efforts. Overshown also displayed strong leadership abilities as a two-year captain for the team. Since spinning down to linebacker from the safety spot ahead of the 2020 season, Overshown has seen steady improvement each year. With a better grasp of the position since developing under Pete Kwiatkowski and Jeff Chaote, he is ready to take on the professional level. - USA Today

  01/07/23 - Jordan WhittingtonrSr/2024, Texas, 6-1, 202 (DS#30 WR) + More +

The Texas Longhorns received good news on Friday. Wide receiver Jordan Whittington is set to return for another season on the Forty Acres. Whittington has been a key player for Texas over the last two seasons. His injury was a huge reason Texas struggled in the second half of Steve Sarkisian's first season in Austin. His presence helped the offense to new heights this year. The Cuero product had a strong, healthy campaign in 2022 in which he caught 50 passes for 652 yards, an average of 13.0 yards per reception. Now it is important for Steve Sarkisian to make sure Whittington maintains a significant role in the offense. - USA Today

  01/02/23 - TVondre SweatrSr/2024, Texas, 6-5, 366 (DS#10 DT) + More +

T'Vondre Sweat is staying on the Forty Acres another year. The massive defensive tackle made his intentions known following Thursday's bowl game. The news of his return is huge for the Longhorns in light of Keondre Coburn's departure for the NFL. Sweat has all the tools to become a productive player at the next level. He will look to finish his career strong next season. You may recall that Sweat broke through the Alabama offensive line to bring down Bryce Young for what should have been a safety. The disrupter should have more opportunities to wreck ball games with a bigger role next season. No. 93 will likely be joined by Byron Murphy on the interior defensive line with Barryn Sorrell and another edge on the outside. - USA Today

  12/19/22 - *Bijan RobinsonJr/2023, Texas, 5-11, 215 (DS#1 RB) + More +

Texas running back Bijan Robinson is skipping his final two seasons of eligibility to enter the NFL draft and won't play in the Alamo Bowl. Robinson earned All-America honors after rushing for 1,580 yards with 18 touchdowns as the Longhorns (8-4) finished third in the Big 12. No. 21 Texas plays 12th-ranked Washington in the Alamo Bowl on Dec. 29. Robinson played three years but had two seasons of eligibility remaining because his freshman year was the COVID-19-altered 2020 season. The NCAA granted all players another year of eligibility.

"I've done everything that I tried to do in God's plan for me while I've been here," Robinson said at a news conference announcing the decision Monday. "It's time to start the new journey. I'm just excited to figure out another part of my life, just like I tried to figure it out here." Highly recruited out of Arizona, Robinson is fourth on Texas' career rushing list with 3,410 yards rushing. He trails two Heisman Trophy winners in career school rushing leader Ricky Williams and Earl Campbell, who is third. All three of the Texas running backs ahead of Robinson on the career list were top-five picks in the draft. Williams went fifth overall to New Orleans in 1999, Cedric Benson was taken fourth by Chicago in 2005 and Campbell was the No. 1 overall choice by Houston in 1978. - AP College Football
