  Chris Franklin's 21-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter helped UT Martin beat Charleston Southern 17-14 on Saturday. Franklin scored with 6:53 to play. Zolten Osborne drove Charleston Southern down the field but the drive stalled when he was sacked on fourth-and-5 at the UT Martin 37 with 3:30 remaining. Jase Bauer completed 18 of 26 passes for 252 yards with a touchdown and led the Skyhawks on the ground with 54 yards on six carries. Franklin finished with 31 yards rushing.

Phaizon Wilson had 120 yards receiving on seven catches for UT Martin (6-5, 6-1 OVC-Big South). Scottie Alexander had three receptions for 74 yards and a touchdown. Osborne was 14-of-25 passing for 276 yards and threw two touchdown passes and an interception for Charleston Southern (4-7, 3-4). Rashawn Cunningham made seven catches for 216 yards with a touchdown. Mekhi Campfield also had a touchdown catch. Ke'Marion Baldwin ran 12 times for 90 yards. Bauer's 52-yard touchdown pass to Alexander gave the Skyhawks a 7-0 lead early in the third quarter. Osborne connected with Cunningham on a 73-yard touchdown pass two plays later.   Jase Bauer ran for two touchdowns, Chris Franklin had a 51-yard touchdown run and UT Martin cruised past Tennessee State 26-7 on Saturday. UT Martin (5-5, 5-1 OVC-Big South) scored in each quarter before Tennessee State's Taveon Porter's 1-yard touchdown run ended the scoring with 9:59 to play. Thomas Ansely ran 17 times for 118 yards for the Skyhawks. Franklin finished with 111 yards on 18 carries.

Bauer completed 8 of 14 passes for 47 yards and added 60 yards rushing on 14 carries. He broke loose for an 18-yard touchdown run late in the first quarter to cap a 94-yard drive. His 1-yard run in the second quarter made it 14-0. Franklin had his long TD run midway through the third quarter and Cade Hechter kicked a 26-yard field goal in the fourth. Jonathan Palmer and Byron McNair combined for 24-of-38 passing for 165 yards for Tennessee State (2-8, 0-6).   Jase Bauer connected with Bryce Bailey for a 6-yard touchdown on the first possession of overtime and Keyshawn Johnson sealed the game with a fourth-down stop to give UT Martin a 27-20 victory over Eastern Illinois on Saturday. Bauer also ran for a 1-yard touchdown with 46 seconds left in regulation to tie it at 20-all following a seven-play, 43-yard drive. He had a completion for a first down on third-and-4 in overtime.

Johnson went unblocked up the middle to stuff Cole LaCrue's quarterback sneak on fourth-and-1 to end the game. Bauer was 22 of 29 for 172 yards with two touchdowns for UT Martin (4-5, 4-1 OVC-Big South). LaCrue threw for 140 yards and two touchdowns, and he led Eastern Illinois (3-6, 2-4) with 42 yards rushing.   WEEK 8 FCS NATIONAL TEAM OF THE WEEK: UT Martin (37-7 win at Gardner-Webb),...The Skyhawks had a dominating road performance while putting themselves in OVC-Big South title contention and handing Gardner-Webb its first conference loss. The defense forced four turnovers and quarterback Jase Bauer was 15 for 16 (93.8%) for 164 yards, finishing with two total touchdowns. Also for coach Jason Simpson's 3-5 (3-1 OVC-Big South) squad, JaMichael McGoy Jr. intercepted a pass and broke up two more to raise his career totals to 43 passes defended and a school-record 37 PBUs.   John Gentry ran for 90 yards, Chris Franklin had a 66-yard touchdown run, and UT Martin routed Gardner-Webb 37-7 on Saturday. The Skyhawks (3-5, 3-1 OVC-Big South) had 244 yards rushing and 164 yards passing. Their defense had four takeaways, three of them interceptions. Jace Bauer's 28-yard touchdown pass to Dazalin Worsham gave UT Martin a 10-0 lead in the first quarter and Bauer added a 15-yard second-quarter touchdown run on the way to a 20-0 halftime lead.

The Skyhawks led 23-0 through three quarters and Franklin's long TD run wrapped up the scoring with about 4 minutes remaining in the game. Bauer completed 15 of 16 passes for 164 yards and had a QBR of 200.5. Cole Pennington passed for 236 yards for the Runnin' Bulldogs (4-3, 2-1) but was intercepted three times. The senior completed 19-of-28 passes for 235 yards and a touchdown and rushed for 24 yards and two additional scores. He connected on a 10-yard passing touchdown in the second quarter before tallying a pair of two-yard rushing scores in the fourth, as UTM overcame an 11-point deficit.   Jase Bauer ran for two fourth-quarter touchdowns and UT Martin blocked a field goal in the final seconds to rally past Western Illinois 32–31 on Saturday. Bauer threw for 245 yards and added two short rushing scores for the Skyhawks (2–5, 2–1 OVC–Big South), who erased an 11-point deficit to win their second straight. John Gentry ran for 104 yards, while Thomas Ansley added 66 yards and a touchdown. Kicker Cade Hechter hit field goals from 28 and 41 yards.

Western Illinois (1–6, 0–3) led 31–20 entering the fourth quarter after Markell Holman's second rushing touchdown. Bauer capped a 15-play, 75-yard drive with a 2-yard score to pull within five, then plunged in again from two yards with 1:57 remaining to give UT Martin its first lead since early in the second quarter. The Leathernecks marched to the UT Martin 30 in the final minute, but Antonio Chadha's 48-yard attempt was blocked by Chris Wilson with 35 seconds left to seal it. Cason Carswell completed 21 of 30 passes for 327 yards and two touchdowns for Western Illinois, including scores to Demari Davis and Alex Williams. Holman added 59 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Davis led all receivers with 109 yards on four catches.   Jase Bauer threw two touchdown passes, including a 75-yarder to Bryce Bailey on the first play from scrimmage, and added 107 yards rushing and two scores as UT Martin beat Southeast Missouri State 34-10 in an OVC-Big South opener on Saturday night. Bauer scored on a 7-yard run after LaMarion Pierce intercepted a Jax Leatherwood pass on Southeast Missouri State's second play for a 14-0 lead in the first 2:16. Bauer connected with Bailey for a 21-yard score and a 21-7 lead with 3:33 left in the second quarter and UT Martin (1-4, 1-0) took it into halftime.

Cade Hechter kicked two field goals in the second half for the Skyhawks and Bauer capped the scoring with a 2-yard run with 2:53 remaining. Bauer finished with 225 yards on 15-for-22 passing. He did his damage on the ground on 15 carries. Thomas Ansley rushed 16 times for 99 yards. Bailey had seven catches for 135 yards. Three quarterbacks combined to complete 22 of 41 for 209 yards with two interceptions for the Redhawks (1-4, 0-1). They managed just 30 yards on 27 rushes. - AP College Football
