  2019 PRESEASON SUN BELT FIRST TEAM (COACHES/MEDIA): RS - Tra Minter (South Alabama, Senior),...A native of Ellaville, Ga., Minter was chosen second-team all-league as both as a return specialist and all-purpose back in 2018, and thus far this summer has been named second-team preseason All-America by The Sporting News while earning preseason all-Sun Belt recognition as a return specialist or all-purpose back from Phil Steele Publications, Athlon Sports and Lindy's.

Last season, he stood third in the conference with an average of 24.48 yards per kick return and averaged 15.2 yards per punt return, earning SBC Special Teams Player-of-the-Week honors in October after returning a punt 75 yards for a score while recording 161 total return yards in a win over Alabama State. Minter paced the league and was among the top 10 nationally with 150.25 all-purpose yards per game a year ago. - South Alabama Football

  2019 PRESEASON DOAK WALKER AWARD CANDIDATE: Tra Minter (Sr.), South Alabama,...Minter led the Jaguars and was among the top 10 in the Sun Belt Conference last fall after rushing for 801 yards and six touchdowns on 183 attempts, and he also caught 23 passes for another 201 yards out of the backfield. He finished as the squad's top rusher in each of the last five outings of the year - accomplishing the feat on nine occasions overall - highlighted by a school-record 203 yards in a season-ending win over Coastal Carolina.

In addition to being named the league's Offensive Player of the Week for that effort, Minter was chosen the Sun Belt Special Teams Player of the Week in October after the Jags defeated Alabama State. He ended the year first in the conference and eighth in the country with an average of 150.25 all-purpose yards per game on the way to being selected second-team all-Sun Belt as both a return specialist and all-purpose back. - South Alabama Football

He ranks second in South Carolina history in completion percentage (62.8), is third in pass completions (610) and passing touchdowns (54), fourth in passing yards (7,385), pass attempts (972) and touchdowns responsible for (62) and fifth in total offense (7,533) entering his senior season.

Fifteen seniors, nine juniors and six sophomores comprise the list. Among conferences, the SEC leads the way for the third straight season with a half-dozen selections. Other leagues with at least three members on the watch list are the Pac-12 (5), Big 12 (4) and Big Ten (3).
