OCT 28 NEC CO-DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE WEEK: ANIELLO BUZZACCO, ROBERT MORRIS, LB, So., 6-1, 190 lbs., North Lima, OH/South Range,...WEEK 9 Stats: 18 total tackles (7 solo), QB hurry...Buzzacco recorded a NEC single-game season-high 18 tackles during Robert Morris' third consecutive conference victory. The sophomore linebacker, who was credited with seven solo stops, spearheaded a defensive effort that limited Bryant to 3.4 yards per play in a 24-20 victory. He made eight tackles during the fourth quarter, including two important hits on back-to-back plays in RMU territory. With the Colonials protecting a 24-20 fourth-quarter lead, Buzzacco made a third-down tackle that stopped the ball carrier two yards short of the sticks at the RMU 37. On the next snap, the linebacker snuffed out the quarterback keeper to force a turnover on downs. - NEC Football

Garrett Houser pulled in a 75-yard pass from George Martin for the winning touchdown in the fourth quarter as Robert Morris came from behind to defeat Bryant 24-20 Saturday to remain undefeated in the Northeast Conference. The Colonials (4-4, 3-0) fell behind 13-0 by halftime, their largest deficit since trailing Sacred Heart by 14 in 2010 -- also a comeback win. The Colonials outscored the Bulldogs (2-7, 1-3) 24-7 in the final two periods despite being outgained in rushing and passing yards.

Back-to-back Bryant turnovers turned into 10 points. Brady Ours intercepted Bryant's Kory Curtis, leading to a Nick Bisceglia 29-yard field goal as the Colonials cut the gap to 13-10. The Bulldogs' Gavin Rowley was pushed back for a 16-yard loss on the next possession and fumbled. Jacob Thomas snatched it up at the 3 and scored for a 17-13 Colonials lead. Bryant took a 20-17 lead early in the fourth on Harrison Easton's 5-yard TD run, but Robert Morris responded with a three-play, 74-yard drive and the winning TD pass. Jesse Nemerowicz, with six tackles, grabbed the career record for Bryant with 289. The previous record was 285. - AP College Football

Robert Morris linebacker Aniello Buzzacco, Thomas Neal, Garrett Fairman and Brady Ours combined to make 30 tackles, 12 solo.   2019 PRESEASON ALL-NORTHEAST CONFERENCE FOOTBALL TEAM (COACHES): TE/HB Matthew Gonzalez, Robert Morris, Jr.,...In addition to establishing an RMU single-season record for touchdown catches, Gonzalez paced the NEC in the category and ranked 10th in the Football Championship Subdivision (FCS). Among FCS tight ends, he finished third in the nation with an average of 16.1 yards per reception. For his efforts last year, Gonzalez was named to the 2018 Associated Press FCS All-America Second Team. Gonzalez is just the fourth student-athlete in program history to earn AP All-American accolades, joining an impressive list of who's who in program annals.

Gonzalez joined inaugural running back Tim Hall (1995) and a pair from RMU's 2010 team that was the first in NEC history to earn the automatic bid to the NCAA FCS Playoffs, offensive lineman Corey Konycki and tight end Shadrae King. Entering his final season in 2019, Gonzalez has compiled 62 career receptions for 910 yards and 13 touchdowns. He needs just nine catches to crack the top 10 all-time at Robert Morris, while he is just two scores away from the top five in the category. - Robert Morris Football
