  Reece Udinski threw two touchdown passes, Milan Howard ran for two more and Richmond beat Davidson 41-0 on Saturday in the first round of the Football Championship Series playoffs. Richmond (9-3), ranked 14th in the FCS coaches poll, will face second-ranked Sacramento State in the second round. Udinski was 28-of-31 passing for 246 yards. He threw a 25-yard touchdown pass to Jakob Herres early in the second quarter, and his 30-yarder to Jerry Garcia Jr. about seven minutes later stretched the Spiders' lead to 24-0.

Howard carried the ball 12 times for 73 yards. He broke one tackle, spun and then carried one defender into the end zone for a 5-yard touchdown in the fourth quarter. It was his second score on the day and his first multi-touchdown game. Trailing 24-0 late in the first half, Jayden Waddell drove Davidson (8-4) to the Richmond 8-yard line. But on third-and-goal, he scrambled back to the 25 trying to avoid a sack and then threw an ill-advised underhand toss that was picked off by redshirt freshman Matei Fitz. The Richmond linebacker earned first-team All-CAA accolades for the third time this season after recording a team-best 97 tackles, 9.0 TFL's and two interceptions. His 353 career tackles are the 4th-most of any active player in FCS football.   Jake Larson, Richmond's long placekicker, booted a 39-yard field goal with four seconds left and Richmond recovered a fumble for a touchdown on the ensuing kickoff for a 21-13 win over Delaware on Saturday in a battle of ranked FCS teams. The Spiders went 71 yards in 10 plays after the Blue Hens gave up the ball on downs at the Richmond 7. Reece Udinski was 5 of 6 on the drive, including a 45-yard completion on fourth-and-4 that put the ball at the Delaware 25. A spike, a 3-yard run and a spike set up Larson.

It was the third field goal for Larson, who connected on a 46-yarder in the first half and a 48-yarder earlier in the fourth quarter, and kept the Spiders (8-2, 6-1 Colonial Athletic Association) tied for the league lead with a showdown with William & Mary next week. Andrew Lopez, the short kicker, kicked a 33-yard field goal in the first half and a 29-yarder in the third quarter for the Spiders. Larson entered the game 5 of 10 on field goals, 3 of 8 from 40-49 yards. Lopez was 7 of 8, 1 of 2 from long range. Both were 2 of 2 from 30-39 yards.   Reece Udinski threw for two touchdowns and ran for two more to stake Richmond to a 28-7 lead and the Spiders held off a late rally to post a 31-21 win over Maine in a Colonial Athletic Association game on Saturday. The win keeps the Spiders one game behind conference leader New Hampshire heading into their head-to-head battle Saturday at Richmond. Udinski had two touchdown runs in the first quarter and fired a 63-yard scoring strike to Jakob Herres to stake Richmond (6-2, 4-1) to a 21-0 lead after one quarter. Udinski finished 26-of-33 passing for 368 yards and had six rushing yards on eight carries. Zavier Scott scored on a 41-yard run to pull Maine with a touchdown, 28-21 midway through the fourth quarter, but Richmond added a 22-yard field goal from Andrew Lopez.   Reece Udinski threw for 314 yards and three touchdowns and Richmond cruised to a 41-10 win over Hampton on Saturday. The Spiders (5-2, 3-1 Colonial Athletic Association) scored the first 17 points of the game and the the last 17 while piling up 498 yards and holding the Pirates (4-3, 1-3) to 255. Udinski opened the scoring less than two minutes into the game when he connected with Jakob Herres for 22 yards. Jer Garcia Jr. scored on a 14-yard run to cap an 80-yard drive. Hampton got on the board with a 74-yard catch and run, Malcolm Mays to Darran Butts. The Spiders got that back with Udinski's second TD pass before Hampton got a field goal on the last play of the half to trail 24-10. Richmond's last TD was an 87-yard run by Fonnae Webb. Udinski was 30-of-37 passing. Herres caught seven passes for 109 yards. Mays was 16 of 32 for 214 with an interception and three sacks. - Richmond/AP College Football

  Reece Udinski accounted for two touchdowns and the Richmond defense made them stand up as the Spiders defeated Villanova 20-10 on Saturday. Udinski scored on a 1-yard run and threw to Connor Deveney for a 6-yard score as Richmond took a 14-10 halftime lead. Andrew Lopez added two red zone field goals in the fourth quarter for the FCS No. 21 Spiders (4-2, 2-1 Colonial Athletic Association). Richmond ground out 227 rushing yards on 52 carries and Udinski passed for 104 yards, completing 16 of 23 attempts. Aaron Dykes had 89 yards rushing on 23 carries. FCS No. 17 Villanova (3-3, 1-2) had drives of 62 yards for a touchdown and 77 yards for a field goal in the first half but managed only 75 yards in the second half, 51 yards of that total coming on a run by TD Ayo-Durojaiye.   Reece Udinski threw a career-high five touchdown passes and Richmond opened its Colonial Athletic Association schedule with a 51-7 rout of Stony Brook on Saturday. Udinski was 35-of-42 passing for 357 yards with a pair of scoring throws to Leroy Henley and one each to Jasiah Williams, Savon Smith and Connor Deveney. Williams led Richmond (3-1, 1-0) with 10 catches for 112 yards. Udinski threw a screen pass to Smith, who then got a block from Joe More and ran along the right sideline for a 60-yard touchdown that stretched the Spiders' lead to 42-7 midway through the third quarter.
