CJ Bailey threw for 221 yards and two touchdowns, and scored another on the ground as NC State took down Memphis 31-7 in the Gasparilla Bowl on Friday. The Wolfpack concluded their season at 8-5 (4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) and won a bowl game for the first time since the 2017 Sun Bowl. Jayden "Duke" Scott racked up 108 rushing yards to pace the NC State offense. Wesley Grimes led with 48 receiving yards and a score on three catches and six targets. NC State struck first on their opening drive as Bailey scampered for a 14-yard rush. The Wolfpack scored on all but two of their first-half drives to take a 31-7 lead into halftime.

Grimes hauled in a 31-yard touchdown, Teddy Hoffman took his only catch for a 40-yard score, and Will Wilson tacked on a 1-yard rushing touchdown before time expired in the first half. The Tigers (8-5, 4-4 American Conference) got on the board with Jamari Hawkins’ 28-yard reception. Hawkins had four catches for 32 yards. NC State is 18-18-1 in bowl games and made its sixth straight appearance. Memphis is 9-9 in bowl games, winning four straight from 2020-2024. The Tigers are one of seven FBS programs with an active streak of 12 or more straight bowl invitations. - NC State/AP College Football

Short-yardage quarterback Will Wilson ran for four touchdowns while starter C.J. Bailey threw two scoring passes as N.C. State blew out rival North Carolina 42-19 on Saturday night, ending NFL icon Bill Belichick's first college season with the Tar Heels. Wilson ran for 54 yards and had a 15-yard dragging-the-pile score in the third quarter for the Wolfpack (7-5, 4-4 Atlantic Coast Conference), who scored touchdowns on all four first-half drives to firmly take control of this one.

Bailey threw TD passes to Wesley Grimes and Justin Joly in that dominant first half on the way to yet another rivalry win for coach Dave Doeren, who has now beaten UNC five straight years. Gio Lopez threw a touchdown pass for the Tar Heels (4-8, 2-6), though he was knocked from the game early in the third quarter when his left leg bent under him awkwardly on a sack. He was helped to the tunnel putting no weight on his left leg, leading to Max Johnson taking over the offense with UNC down 28-10. UNC finished with 265 total yards and 11 penalties for 129 yards. - NC State/AP College Football

Justin Joly had a clinching fourth-down touchdown catch with 1:47 left - coming after Florida State committed turnovers on back-to-back late punt returns - to help N.C. State hang for a 21-11 win Friday night and become bowl eligible. The Wolfpack (6-5, 3-4 Atlantic Coast Conference) grinded to this win behind a defense that allowed one TD and got a huge showing from cornerback Devon Marshall with two interceptions and five pass breakups. The offense did its best work on a 15-play drive lasting nearly 9 minutes, ending with Will Wilson plowing through the left side for a 1-yard keeper and a 14-3 third-quarter lead. But it was the special-teams miscues by the Seminoles (5-6, 2-6) that stood out most.

Trailing 14-11, they forced the Wolfpack to punt near midfield, only for Caden Noonkester's short kick to hit the helmet of FSU blocker K.J. Kirkland - then bounce about 25 yards back to Noonkester, who dove on the ball near the original line of scrimmage with 3:53 left. FSU again forced a punt, only to see Squirrel White muff the catch and have it bounce right to N.C. State's Tra Thomas with 2:21 left. C.J. Bailey followed with his second TD throw on the 12-yarder to Joly for the 21-11 lead. Duce Robinson had a 9-yard TD catch from Tommy Castellanos midway through the fourth for FSU's lone touchdown. - NC State/AP College Football

Duke Scott saw N.C. State's fans pouring over the walls of the stands, running in from all directions and join the Wolfpack for an on field victory party. "It was awesome," the redshirt freshman said, down to taking pictures with jubilant field-storming fans. And Wolfpack fans had every reason to savor Saturday night's 48-36 win over No. 8 Georgia Tech. It marked the Yellow Jackets' first loss, coming with them driving toward a berth in the Atlantic Coast Conference championship game and a possible trip to the College Football Playoff. And it came with the Wolfpack leaning on multiple players like Scott being pressed into leading roles due to injuries. "Resiliency is what this place is about," Wolfpack coach Dave Doeren said. "It's why I've always loved N.C. State. It's definitely a part of my DNA. "The harder it gets, sometimes I think the better we are." Scott was the star, running for a career-best 196 yards in place of injured league rushing leader Hollywood Smothers (101.3). CJ Bailey threw for 340 yards and two touchdowns while running for another for the Wolfpack (5-4, 2/3 ACC), which rode a crisp offensive showing from the opening possession to the program's first win against a top-10 opponent in more than four years.

Georgia Tech (8-1, 5-1) entered with its first 8-0 start since 1966 and joined No. 15 Virginia as the only teams unbeaten in ACC play. In an unusual twist, N.C. State has beaten both. The Wolfpack handed the Cavaliers their lone loss in September, though that was in a nonconference matchup added outside the league's scheduling model and doesn't count in the ACC standings. N.C. State posted 583 total yards and scored on eight of 10 drives, with six going for TDs. "They lined up and physically kicked our (butt) in a lot of ways," Georgia Tech coach Brent Key said. "It is what it is. That's on me. I take responsibility for it." Haynes King threw for 408 yards and two scores while running for 103 yards and two more touchdowns for Georgia Tech. The Yellow Jackets had 559 yards but settled for three field goals and also had a missed kick. The game's lone turnover came on the final play, when Caden Fordham intercepted King's desperation throw to the end zone to trigger the Wolfpack's on-field victory party. - NC State/AP College Football

With the Bulls trailing, 7-0, Snow caught a pass over the middle and dashed 75 yards for a touchdown. Down seven late in the third quarter, Snow caught a 19-yard touchdown pass to tie the game once again. He scored the go-ahead touchdown in overtime on a nine-yard run. - MAC Football

Keenan Phillips rushed for 104 yards for South Alabama (1-3) and Kentrel Bullock added a touchdown on the ground.   CJ Bailey connected with Keenan Jackson for the 12-yard go-ahead touchdown early in the fourth quarter to help N.C. State beat Wake Forest 34-24 on Thursday night. Bailey threw three TD passes for the Wolfpack (3-0, 1-0 Atlantic Coast Conference), two going to Justin Joly as N.C. State rallied from a quick 14-0 deficit. The Wolfpack also got a big-man touchdown with 6-foot-3, 280-pound defensive tackle Isaiah Shirley snatching an errant pass and rumbling 41 yards for a TD return late in the first quarter.

N.C. State added a key interception from Ronnie Royal III with 5:02 left. Chris Barnes returned the opening kickoff for a 98-yard touchdown and added a 70-yard catch-and-run on a deep ball for Wake Forest, the latter leading to Demond Claiborne's short TD run for the 14-0 lead. Robby Ashford also ran for a touchdown on a short keeper for the Demon Deacons (2-1, 0-1), who lost for the first time under new coach Jake Dickert. - NC State/AP College Football

Reserve quarterback Tad Hudson scored the game's only touchdown early in the fourth quarter and Coastal Carolina overcame three turnovers in beating FCS-level Charleston Southern 13-0 on Saturday night. The Chanticleers (1-1) outgained Charleston Southern 384-153 total yards, but MJ Morris - a Maryland transfer who also played two seasons at N.C. State - struggled completing 13 of 22 passes for 102 yards and three interceptions. A potential fourth pick was dropped by a defender and following the play Hudson was inserted. Kian Afrookhteh kicked field goals of 21 and 29 yards around Hudson's 4-yard touchdown run. Coastal Carolina entered as a 28.5-point favorite, according to BetMGM Sportsbook. The Buccaneers (0-2) lost their 12th straight game and fell to 0-28 all-time against FBS opponents. They were coming off a 45-3 loss at Vanderbilt last week. Charleston Southern hasn't recorded a winning season since 2017 when it went 6-5. - Coastal Carolina/AP College Football
