The UConn football program, which canceled its 2020 season due to the coronavirus, is losing two players. Jonathan Senecal, a quarterback prospect who was expected to compete for the starting job, has left UConn and will attend school in his native Canada, playing for the University of Montreal. In addition, defensive back Keyshawn Paul, who played in 23 games for UConn in 2018 and '19, entered the transfer portal earlier this week. He had 36 tackles, including 2 1/2 for loss of yardage, and one interception for the Huskies last season. - Hartford Courant

It was a pinch me kind of week for University of Montreal Carabin defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy as he signed as a priority undrafted free agent contract with the National Football League's Green Bay Packers and then was tapped as the Alouettes first pick in the Canadian Football League draft. "It took a while (to sink in)," Marc-Antoine Dequoy said. "I'm very excited about it, to get the opportunity with Green Bay and then to be picked by the Alouttes, it's my home town and a team I grew up watching." Dequoy is an Ile Bizard native who played his minor football with the Ile Bizard Vikings and at College Bourget in Rigaud before moving on to Laval's CEGEP Montmorency. Back in March the 6-foot-3, 190 ound defensive back attracted attention at the Carabins pro day at Lachine's Catalogna Soccerplex where he saw interest from the Chicago Bears and the Philadelphia Eagles, but it was the iconic Packers organization that snapped Dequoy up. "The Packers have 100 years of football," Dequoy said. - The Suburban

University of Montreal defensive back Marc-Antoine Dequoy put on a show at the Carabins pro day. Two NFL teams, the Chicago Bears and Philadelphia Eagles were on hand at the Soccerplexe Catalogna. As were a pair of CFL franchises, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Montreal Alouettes. It was just the second pro day in school history. Dequoy led the Carabins with 37.5 tackles in 2019 and registered one tackle for loss, one pass breakup and three interceptions during eight regular season games. The six-foot-three, 195-pounder had a game-sealing 85-yard interception return for a touchdown in the Dunsmore Cup upset at Laval. He earned USports first-team All-Canadian status. - 3DownDigital Inc.
